Dumba Getting Scratched
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Skyraider112</b></div><div>Dumba is a solid player and would certainly be a good add to our team. However, as others have stated, the best kind of partner for Power would be a stay-at-home guy. Dumba is not that kind of player, and I'm concerned about what kind of money he'd want on a long-term deal. The perfect player for us would be a guy like Mayfield or Borgen (sad). Neither are going to be available this season. Perhaps Mayfield could sign as a FA and Borgen could be had but likely at a high cost since he's been so good for the Kraken</div></div>
I think Power's skating and current level of defensive prowess will lead to him not needing a true stay-at-home dman. He's a better skater than Dahlin already and is more responsible defensively than Dahlin was in his rookie season. I think this allows for another "complete player" to compliment him well. I may be wrong, but that's my assessment. I think we're hung up on the fact that Dahlin and Samuelsson work so well together. Devon Toews isn't a true "stay-at-home" and he works with Makar. Same as Weegar and Ekblad in recent history. Just need someone who is willing to let Power be Power and work off of him/support him, most of the time.

Severson,Jensen,Clifton,Gudas,Van Riemsdyk,
Mayfield all potential ufa and lose nothing
If KA wants to spend assets Carlo and Cernak, Korczak all better choices
Chychrun totally unnecessary and ludicrously expensive
Maybe Murphy so he doesn’t score on us

He's more of a PP guy. That's why it would be better to retain as most teams don't have the space but also, no one wants to pay someone over 4 million dollars just to play PP time

He is subpar defensively and is not a play driver. But he does produce at 5v5.
That is all carry on</div></div>
That's a fair point as he has scored well at 5v5 this year, but I'd like to wait for a larger sample before I call him a legit scorer at 5v5. Personal preference there, but he still is a good player, but imo more of a compliment to your top 2 scoring lines than anything else

Adding without huge deals
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Skyraider112</b></div><div>I agree with you. I still see our 4th-6th D men as our biggest weakness organizationally. Obviously Dahlin, Power, Sam as you said locked in for the top 4. Lyubushkin I like as a mid-term option for the 3rd pair. Jokiharju I really wouldn't mind moving on from. Our only good defense prospect right now is Johnson and it appears he may not even sign with us. Nabbing a couple higher end D-prospects would just set us up for even greater future success. UFA would be the best way to acquire a great partner for Power imo. If we can trade for a bottom pairing defenseman that would be nice too. I like Murphy from Chicago also as a potential trade target</div></div>
I'm sure we will spent some premium picks on defensmen over the next 2 years. I also think we will trade out of our surplus of forward depth too

Our top 6 defense are all under contract for next year and 5 of them are 2017 or younger drafts.
The beauty of having dahlin, power and Samuelsson is not having to go bonkers around them. Go ahead and draft a few. Trade for 1, use ufa.

Cool, who do you want to lose because you overpaid for konecny, peterka or Quinn?
Both, along with dahlin and power will need new deals.
No room for kulich either in the top 9 due to him and crouse, who is massively overpaid

Sabre add toughness and another old GK
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bostonbruins</b></div><div>Thank you for your valuable input.
Let's look at the trade differently.
The Olofsson retention keeps the caps essential equal for this year and next.
Buffalo is getting a first and a second for "a multiple time 20-goal scorer" and a third line center.
Getting "a guy who hits more, a reclamation project, and a goalie" a year younger than Anderson is filling in pieces to the line up until the next wave of prospects are ready to take the ice.
The Sabres need to cut down on the goals against, this trade moves the two worse +/- forwards and replaces them with a defensive minded Puljujarvi and a hard hitting third line forward.
Maybe having a third and fourth line that can keep the puck out the net will not help the won loss record, but the two picks should help in the future.
Smith is probably "ten minutes from retiring" because the Oiler's did not want him to pass the physical. He actually played very well last year posting a 2.81 GAA 16 wins 9 losses 2 OTL and a 0.915 SV%. Better than Anderson last year.
Having two 40 yo GK only hurts when the team plays 3 games in 4 nights, then a GK only gets two days of rest, playing every other night they would get 3 days to recover.
Well that is my take, Olofsson and Mittelstadt <strong>WILL BE </strong>replaced by prospects next year or the year after.
Getting a first and a second in a deep draft would be good asset management.
While Casey's and Victor's replacements do not have the same offensive skills. they may be more helpful to the Sabres winning more games.
Regardless this is all for fun and none of this will ever happen</div></div>
Buffalo isn't getting a 1st and a 2nd for olofsson, what are you talking about. You included no picks
