One. Kudos for no stupid Neal, Jones and a 2nd to Seattle.
Why give a 6th?? Who don't you, Arm, want Seattle to take?? Lagesson?? Benson??
If Ullmark stays healthy. He's really good....

Neal is gonna score a bunch of goals for the Oilers in a top 6 role. It will be interesting, you never used to see players play for both AB teams but it has become more common place

IMHO Betterall would do the Caggiula trade. Five stars for that trade alone.
The Hall trade was rather bizarre, give the Eberle trade another year, and wait if Lucic can regain his form. Believe me he did a lot better than my GM disaster. Murray threw away a 2nd on Georges, two 2nd's and McNabb on two 4th line players, a 1st on Lehner, over paid to get Kane, infested the locker room with a cancer known as ROR, drafted poorly, and insulted the press & NHL. He took a last place team with a great future and turned it into a last place team with no future.

Larsson worth virtually nothing? Are you insane? Young top 4 RHD, signed on good contract with term. Doesnt score much but is great defensively and does all the heavy lifting with the tough matchups and pk time.

Could you explain why 3 years for nurse wouldn't be a bridge deal? I thought since he's only played 3 seasons (2 NHL games in 2014-2015 shouldn't count right?), and he'd only be 26 at the end of the deal. Why wouldn't he still be an RFA? Isn't it 7 season or 27 years of age? Thanks!

ED'S roster looks very good.
Doubt that Van would take Sekera&give Tanev.
Gallagher trade may work, though would hate to lose Benning, who's due to break out.
We'll done though..-~

If ED could score Stone, even if it cost Yammy as well, ED has 2 do it.
Even though a top right D is still much needed.

I actually love all these moves. The Oilers need: winger depth, a right handed d-man to move the puck. You can have a first line of RNH-MCD-RAT and a second line of PACH-GAL-YAM/POOL/ZAD. You are giving the young players a chance to succeed yet not forcing them up the lines. The only concern is the cap space issue. Maybe try to move Lucic or Russell out to free up a million or two. But otherwise I love the look of this team.

With Slavin, Hanifin, Fleury and Bean already there on the Left side, I see no need for Klefbom. If they’re trading Faulk, it’s probably for a Center or high pick, maybe more.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawks34</b></div><div>very interesting trade between arizona and the oilers. But i think this trade benefits the oilers at the end of the day. Oilers would improve their Defense substantially while at the same time dumping milan lucic's contract giving up the 10th pick, klefbomb, and a swap of prospects. Arizona has no incentive to trade bolland's contract to anybody because they are not a cap tightened team by any means and they just have to put him in LTIR at the start of the year. Arizona could easily afford the extra cap hit on this. Now if a trade between arizona and oilers were to be talked about involving OEL and i were arizona's GM, i wouldn't even consider talking unless Draisitl was in the conversation. maybe a Draisitl and lucic for OEL and a good prospect from arizona. That way Arizona gets their #1C and the Oilers get their #1 Defenseman hands down while also dumping lucic's contract and getting a good prospect to give the team more cap to improve the team.</div></div>
I could see a Draisaitl and Lucic for OEL and Max Domi swap oilers could add a top prospect like Benson or C.Jones, But OEL would have to have a contract extension in place.

Not bad. As mentioned, Montreal doesn’t do the Patches deal - perhaps the Oilers 2018 second rounder and retaining 1.5 M in salary gets it done. Maybe.

Not bad, but I wouldn’t do Klef for Gallagher, I’d rather have Hoffman then Gallagher, I like the Lucic deal for Krieder and definitely like getting John Carlson, that’s a big trade for Subban though, I think they can get a buck up for way cheaper in free agency then giving up all those assests

Grabner is going to make nearly $4M this summer because some asinine GM is going to pay a declining 30-year-old winger for two years of near-30 goal production. I'd much rather stay away from him this summer. Could probably save $500k on Nurse and Carlson, and an extra $250k between Rattie and Caggiula combined.
I'll echo the above poster and say I'd rather see Klefbom go for Hoffman than Gallagher. Unless Montreal adds a pair of 2nds, that trade should never happen. Even then, optics don't look good. If the Oilers are keeping RNH however, there isn't much in the way of room for Hoffman however. I'd wonder if Ottawa would entertain a Klefbom+ deal for Stone instead. If so, expect him to come in at around $7M. I don't think it'd ever happen though, so I'll assume it's going to be Gally G and a couple of 2nd Round picks.
Keep the 2nd Round pick in the Vegas trade and send Sekera instead of Russell. Ol' cowboy is cheaper to buyout than Sekera and it moves more cap. In return, Vegas gets a better defenceman, and the Oilers free up more space. Then proceed to buyout Russell. I wouldn't have Auvtiu as anything more than a #7 defenceman. His underlying numbers are good because he plays much more like a forward - he's actually braindead in his own zone. I'd look at Hamhuis and maybe CDH or Cole to fill the voids on LD, and forgo Wideman altogether.
Not sure it's enough going back to New York for them to absorb 5 more years of Lucic. Might need to add the 2nd Rounder from the Vegas trade and have like a 5th coming back. It's going to be very hard and very ugly to move Lucic's albatross of a contract. I reckon the only way he's dealt with is via compliance buyout during the next lockout.
I'd look at flipping Kassian to a team that needs to reach the cap floor for a 5th round pick as well. He's overpaid by at least $1M. Cap space is mighty important for this team.
Now considering the changes I'd make, I've freed up an additional $16.4M in cap space, but the team still needs 2 more LHD, 1G (Subban should probably start in the AHL, Edmonton really needs a better core than Talbot/Subban), and an extra LW and RW. I'd look at Hamhuis @ $2.3M/1y, Cole @ 4.25M/2y, Maroon @ $2.75M/3y, Mitchell @ $850k/1y and Raanta @ $4M/3y. If Subban is headed to the AHL, it'd be best to sell Montoya for whatever you could get for him. The team is left with ~$2.32M in cap space and is arguably a much, much better team on paper:
RNH / McDavid / Gallagher
Kreider / Draisaitl / Yamamoto
Maroon / Strome / Puljujarvi
Aberg / Khaira / Mitchell
Caggiula / Rattie
Nurse / Carlson
Cole / Larsson
Hamhuis / Benning
Auvitu
Talbot / Raanta
All and all, pretty decent stuff, just need more fudging in the numbers. Resigning Puljujarvi and Khaira next season is going to be super important.

And where does the 4th line comment come from, clearly not actually watching Maroon play. Its not like CMD bounced 27 pucks off Patties back side while he stood in front of the net. His stats are inflated by his icetime and playing with a great player.. but he is putlting in the work to be on that line. Maroon also put alot of work in last off season to be able to be the current player he is, dont discredit him.</div></div>
He can play with those guys, which is a credit to him because many guys can't play with talent. I mean David Perron was on Crosby's line and produced like he was on a 3rd line, but is way more productive on an actual 3rd line. Hockey is strange like that.

That's pretty much Toronto's whole team! McDavid is good, but not that good. Matthews is probably 80% the player McDavid is, but bigger, more physical and perhaps has a more complete game. Yzerman vs Gretzky, IMO.
Even the trade I proposed might be overpayment by Toronto. Matthews + Zaitsev is probably a good guess if Matthews is involved.</div></div>
McDavid isnt that good? Hes is in the Top 3 of Players right now and will be the best player in this league for the next decade. Come on man dont discredit McDavids ability
