Affording everyone

Quoting: TWOminutes4surging

I'm not one to pick apart other people's ideas, but I will give some thoughts. I don't think Reimer is the answer in goal especially during the Aho, Teravainen, Slavin, Pesce window, and the AAV is high. I would guess that Francis selects one of his original draft picks for Seattle. One of Fleury, Foegele, Geekie or Bean (although Bean is traded in this scenario.) I also don't see us re-signing Martinook with the other big contracts on the books. I agree with @ecupirate7 that Foegele's salary is light. I think we bridge him at something close to $2.5mill x 3yrs. I also think this line-up leaves something to be desired. Another proven top 6 winger is needed.

I see them taking Askarov but i dont know when he can start in the NHL

Quoting: TWOminutes4surging

That opens up a whole other can of worms as Necas is Expansion Draft exempt and has the ability to move to center. From this CAR fan the answer is still no. BS Eichel trade
people are acting like this isn't even close. they're delusional and i'm not even a detroit fan. Buffalo wouldn't accept this only because they are not going to trade Eichel. However, if they were to, this would be a very good deal. 4th overall, a top prospect, and a top 6 forward who's probably going to get even better in Mantha? Seems like a good deal to me. I don't know who'd top that offer around the league..
People don't realize that if you trade a Jack Eichel, Buffalo will not be able to win the trade no matter what. Because in any trade scenario, the other team will be acquiring Jack Eichel and he will simply be the best player in the trade. Buffalo wouldn't get the exact same value back from Jack Eichel. However, they will get something close in value. This deal is close enough, it's not "not even close"

Best - Good - And Worst Scenarios for the Canes at the Draft
The best case draft scenario is not Lafreniere. No, it's the Canes winning the Cup, the Canes giving up a (relatively) measly #31 pick to the Rangers, and the Leafs losing their play-in and losing the draft lottery. Dreaming about the 1st overall is for chumps who don't think that their team is that great. We're a contending-caliber roster, and we should approach these playoffs as Cup or bust.

Rank The top 10 Teams in the NHL

Quoting: jslongo

Make a list from 1 to 10 of the teams that you think are the top 10 in the league. Put them in order. After 48 hours, I will tally up everyone's choices and rank the teams based of everyone's opinions.

1. St. Louis Blues --- Easily one of the best teams, they show heart and pride in their play, and have a fantastic defensive system. Best team in the League IMO.
2. Colorado Avalanche --- Best team full of young Stars. Their Blueline headed by Bowen Byram and Cale Makar for years to come will be scary. IMO the best first line in the league, with Landeskog - MacKinnon - Rantanen. No doubt this team will be a powerhouse for years to come.
3. Boston Bruins --- Ask me two years ago, and as painful as it is, this team was the best. Not sure about right now, as their core is aging, and the prospect pool isn't as deep as others. Still a great team headed by Marchand - Bergeron - Pastrnak
4. Philadelphia Flyers --- A dark horse team in the league. This team plays an all around solid game. Not too many cracks in their team.
5. Tampa Bay Lightning --- Ah yes, the salary cap. A record setting team with a vezina Goalie. Not sure if they can keep the thunder (pun intended) going after undoubtedly a few key departures this offseason. Do they have the cap space to keep all the RFAs???? Who knows. Still a great team.
6. Pittsburgh Penguins --- Spearheaded by one of the best 1-2 punches in the league with Gino and Sid, this team's ability to overcome injury blows my mind every time. Great team. and especially great at finding value players. Not sure if they can keep it up with Sid and Gino aging.....
7. Washington Capitals --- One of the best pure goal scorers the game has ever seen. great up and coming goalkeeping in Samsonov and Copley. But alas, Washington is gracefully aging alongside Pittsburgh and Boston. Still think this team will be good for years to come, but what about after Ovi Leaves????
8. Toronto Maple Leafs --- Ah yes, the Leafs. Great forward core, best in the league. Undoubtedly, one of the best 3rd lines in the league. Great at finding diamonds from the KHL. Goaltending is solid with Campbell and Andersen. But, their Defensive weaknesses outshine all their great firepower. Will Liljegren and Sandin be up there with other young Defenses, who knows, hopefully. Give this team a couple years to grow and mature, and they could easily be top 5 in the league. The Sky is the limit!!!
9. Carolina Hurricanes --- People don't give this bunch of jerks enough credit! Great defence on great contracts. Easily a top ten team in the league. Great all around team. Weakness, goaltending, its hot or cold.
10. Edmonton Oilers --- BAM BAM!! Hit in the face with 2 great forwards in C-Money and Draisaitl. Overall this is an okay team, and their prospect pool is full of promise. however, this team still cant bridge themselves to the playoffs...hopefully they can win before McDavid wants out!
Just Missed:
Dallas Stars, Calgary Flames, Vegas Golden Knights, Columbus Blue Jackets.

Eichel isnt worth the whole roster

Quoting: TWOminutes4surging

I think this is a very fair proposal. I don't see many teams giving up 3 1sts for one player. That's a lot of risk involved. If Eichel got injured, the future would be bleak. Plus you need to draft 1st rounders to surround him with talent.. I understand why Buffalo fans ask for the moon, but the reality is he would bring back a 1st, a young roster player who is trending up (similar to Jones,) and a good prospect. I just don't see teams mortgaging their future on ONE player who is not Draisaitl/McDavid/McKinnon.

And that’s fine. Except most Sabres fans (and fans of lots of other teams) say fine, they’ll keep him. It’s really no skin off of Buffalos back and they should only move him IF there’s an overpayment. If not, he’s got 6 years left. If he wants 10M a year, he’ll play.

2 Trades in the Offseason
3 way deal with Detroit might work out including Edmonton.
Jones young left handed d that’s taken big strides last two years and without question ready for full time action can become top 4 for Detroit for many many years to come. Very smart and has continued to improve.
Neal I know most can’t look past that he gets paid. But Detroit needs more goals and EVERYTIME he’s put in a top six role he produces goals. 20+. Edmonton only looking to shed his salary because he’s not a bottom six winger and no room in top six.
Neal and jones for svechnikov.
1 young good left handed d to grow with the team and a useful top six winger without touching draft capital only youth taking is one that Detroit is most likely prepared to move on from.
Flip to Carolina for Reimer and a bag of pucks.

My One Single Exception to the Dont Spend for Goalies Rule

Quoting: SammyT_51

Thats also very true!

I think the most likely scenario is that Carolina stands pat with their goaltending, except that they'll make space for Nedeljkovic if he's ready. That may change, however, if Holtby's UFA period lags past Day 1 and stagnates to the point where he becomes a value add. Then the calculus begins to change.

If I were the Canes, I wouldn't spend money just because you have it. It's a young team that will need lots of raises, and idk if signing hall is the right move. Maybe a cheaper guy like hoffman so that you still have cap space going forward. That's just my thinking, but maybe it's a possibility

Ooooooh, because he sucks this year. You want to trade Nino (1.12 P/60) to Edmonton for Gagner (1.63 P/60) AND Puljujarvi (whom Holland thinks is worth a 1st) AND a 2nd in the deepest draft in 5 years... somehow I don't see Holland going for that.
