What are the biggest team needs that they will look to address in a trade for ROR in your opinion? Maybe D? Well this team needs everything from D to a decent mascot...... tired of that rat ******* Sabretooth.
I would rank the priorities as follows:
1. Young players or prospects;
2. Draft choices Round 1-3;
3. RD who can carry the puck up the ice and put shots on net;
4. A LW that can play in the offensive zone as well as play in the defensive zone with speed;
I personally could live with ROR on the team for another year as I do not want Mittelstadt being pushed to play that #2 Center. That would be the wrong thing to do for the future of the organization.
In order to maximize the return in a ROR deal I would be open to a bad contract if that contract expires 2018/2019 or 2019/2020. I would not want to go past that point as I expect that in 2020/2021 this team will be competitive.

Fair enough
Just curious as to what O’Reilly’s perceived value is around the league
I personally wanna keep him,
but some Sabres fans think he’ll be overpaid if Mittelstadt turns out to be as good as we think & becomes our 2C
If u guys don’t get Tavares (u likely won’t),
and u try to get O’Reilly from us...
I’m guessing it would take either your #4-7 pick or Galchenyuk (assuming our GM likes him)
Or maybe a couple high end prospects?
Something like that anyways
Supposedly (according to LeBrun & another expert- i forget which one), there is a lot of interest in O’Reilly IF we’d be interested in moving him
So u might have to outbid some other teams if u want him
We might not even move him though
Our GM says we are keeping him,
but i guess that’s what all GMs say...
so who knows?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Texus</b></div><div>I agree lol. I don't know who the Habs could offer maybe Galchenyuk, Juulsen? Doesn't make that much sense to trade ROR in the first place but everyone in Buffalo seems to think he's gone... He would be a great fit for the Habs but I don't think they have the pieces to make it work.</div></div>
Well ROR created this mess by stating in his year end presser (hard to believe that players now have a year end presser.... they never really say anything.... if they were more like John Mcenroe that would be interesting) when he stated that losing has become acceptable on this team and that he at numerous times during the season lost his love for the game of hockey.
That has created this environment from the fan base that he needs to go. I think they need to move him because he does not fit Housley & Botterill's overall idea of their team. Fast fast fast carry the puck into the zone. ROR is not fast enough and due to this limitation he will chip and chase the puck in the offensive zone.
All I know is that I am tired of paying for my season tickets and getting a ho hum effort on the ice.

This is actually Jake's First Season Center
He's a Natural RW Just Like Mccarron He Made the Change After His Draft.
he's only on RW until A.Shaw is back then i do want Jake at Center but not until Shaw is back on RW and Hudon on LW to help him with Faceoffs .
its why he's listed as a F not a Center or a RW because he plays all positions but this year was his first as a full time Center Job for Notre Dame
he hasnt seen any time on wing this year.
Shaw Returns i'd have it like :
Patches-Drouin-Gally
Chucky-Danault-Scherbak
Hudon-Evans-Shaw
Deslauriers-Byron-Lehkonen(this way if Third struggles 4th can step up as a shut down line.)
keeping in mind i know that next year the only ones likely to play Center still is Danault and Evans IMO

That's why I say we might be able to trade down, pick up a good center prospect that might have accelerated development and an extra prospect later, who will take more time. Final position and who's available are the deciding factors.

Don't bother tanking the extra year. Draft Veleno. He's projected outside the top 10 (varies by ranking) and should be available when we select.
His exceptional status was controversial for a number of reasons, but it has still allowed him a higher level of development at an earlier age. He has speed and skill, and is a hard worker, three of the most important factors in making the jump to the NHL.
No guarantees of course, but I think he's promising enough that he could be NHL ready before a number of his peers, or even anyone we might draft next season.
If we are selecting too high, we may even be able to trade down and still pick him up.

That trade has been speculated for a while... McDavid feeding Patch would be unreal.
On a side note: looks like you're taking Veleno pretty high. Can't see the Habs taking him unless they find themselves with a pick in the 12-17 range.

Which Pacioretty trade makes the most sense (Comment below)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mike_luchetta</b></div><div>How so?</div></div>
1 ELC center (1st round pick in his rookie year), 1 1st round pick, 1 LD (playing top-4 with Brodin hurt) for a LW (rental +1).
-Wild have: Granny, Nino, Parise, Foligno, Ennis, Zucker, and Winnik as LW already on the team.
-Wild have no cap space to take on salary
-Wild aren't great this year. Patches doesn't make them a contender, he doesn't even really even guarantee them the Playoffs this year.
-11 of the 12 Wild FWDs are already LHS.
-Wild would have Kunin as the only 1st round pick from the 2013-2018 drafts.
-RW and center are the team needs.

Not a bad return for Pacioretty, who would help Winnipeg a lot. Given how stocked the Jets' cupboard is, I'd probably want to ask for another player in the system.

Even if Montreal has to add to get a second piece of value.
Winnipeg has good pieces that make sense, but aren't necessarily going to offer the most value.
For the back end, the 3 most likely options are:
1. Alzner performs much better
2. Mete slides into a top 4 role
3. Jerabek slides into a top 4 role
One of those players has to prove a long term capable partner for Weber. Alzner is a long shot for that role.
If all of that fails, and Alzner doesn't show marked improvement, we'll have to bite the bullet and do what it takes to unload him. We could still add a puck moving LHD through free agency, but it's better to see if we have an in house solution first.

There is absolutely no chance that Vegas would trade Glass and Theodore who are young and future building block type players for Pacioretty who is older and has no idea of how to play a 200 foot game.</div></div>
I 100% agree with you that Vegas would never do this trade in a million years. But you really have no clue what kind of player Pacioretty is. His game exactly revolves around a 200 foot play style. He is a North / South player, he’s also the 3rd most used forward on the PK (behind Plekanec and Byron). Where he struggles is his east / west game, because he doesn’t dangle the puck very well.

Habs get lucky in the lottery
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jordant89</b></div><div>Now from a Leafs fan. Gotta ask you a question does getting lucky and winning the lottery and drafting Dahlin, then signing Tavares win the Habs a Stanley Cup? Does it turn the Habs into the next dynasty? I say No. You have to bite the bullet an suck like the Penguins did, the Blackhawks did , and the Leafs have done recently. Am i certain the Leafs will win a Cup or multiple... No. But I love or chances, we have a great stable of young talent and more to back them up in the system. The whole Habs system is broken as it was in the Kessel era of Toronto, talent was around just not the right mix at the right time. Gotta blow it up in Montreal.</div></div>
Listen, Im all for blowing it up but if a strike of luck the Habs landed both Tavares and Dahlin, then by all means we could be a contender. Price, Weber, Dahlin, Tavares, Pacioretty and Drouin would be as formidable as any starting 6 in the league.

Colorado: Sakic's patience paid off, way to go. Three good prospects, three draft picks for Duchene. Big win.
Nashville: got a great second centre and locked him In for six more years for a reasonable price of two prospects and a second. Good deal.
Ottawa: For a minor upgrade via swap of top line centres, ottawa has to give up a very good prospect, a 1st and a 3rd. They probably weren't going to be able to sign Turris, but will they really be able to sign Duchene when Karlsson is a UFA at the same time? Bad deal.

I like Galchenyuk but I don't think he can really be a quality center, I see him more of a top 6 winger</div></div>
I totally agree about Galchenyuk being a winger, but Darren Dreger specifically mentioned his name in connection with Pitt's search for a C so that's pretty much the only reason I did this roster. I was really surprised that was the info Dreger got but it is what it is.
And for Maatta I've seen a lot of Pens fans on here saying he's playing great, but is he really indispensable though? He's still their fifth ranked defenseman in total ice time so far this season, and more importantly 5th by a pretty big margin at 5 on 5... Seems to me like he can be sacrificed to add another potentially very dynamic offensive forward like Galchenyuk.</div></div>
Yeah i saw the article so i know exactly what you mean Dreger definitely mentioned PIT, and they've probably looked into it, just like they did previously with Sheahan and Duchene. I just don't know if I want to trade Maatta who's playing well for a center who probably is better suited for the wing and isn't playing so well. If both were playing well then I'd say Maatta for Galchenyuk straight up would be a fair hockey trade, just like Johansen and Jones
