Utah Goes Man City On the Roster
Guenther has 35 pts in 45 games this year. I doubt he would be AHL bound.
But this would all be fun. This team could be very dangerous next year!

Another Necas for RHD Trade
Not saying it isn't fair to NJD, it's more so not covering a need for NJD. They need shutdown D more than scoring forwards.

Unrealistic Cup-Contender Discounts for Guentzel and Necas
I don’t see Guentzel getting much more than what Svech currently has, if more at all. Jarvis can be bridged if the Canes need a bit more cap space, and potentially Necas as well if he isn’t moved in the offseason. Don’t mind the Ferraro trade, but if that were made I would run Orlov-Chatfield and Ferraro-Morrow. Would prefer someone a bit more effective than Kapanen, but I can’t hate on getting another Kappy.

Why? He's the long term 2C, with Kuzy up the coming summer, that would be incredibly shortsighted and dumb unless someone's drastically overpaying

Kotkaniemi Wants to Stay a Cane
It's almost like he's been very good all season long. KK's issue has never been his play, its been his production. He's been a dominant chance creator all year. Ironically, the acquisition that's going to see his totals explode is Guentzel, not Kuznetsov. Kuznetsov's been great, but I think the reshuffle to give him actually gifted offensive linemates has done him better. No disrespect to Jesper Fast but that's not exactly the dude you want next to you when you're in a mammoth slump

(WSH/CAR) - Kuznetsov for 2025 3rd (CAR)
If there is any team that can offer a situation for Kuzy to turn it around, it's Carolina. He's been horrible for the passed 2 seasons, so clearly the Canes are hoping for a massive resurgence, but at only 50% of his deal I guess its not too bad. Extremely risky, but hey, when has Carolina ever shied away from that?

The Sens Are Not Trading Tkachuk - But If They Did
Brady
Year 1 - 71 GP 45P
Year 2 - 71 GP 44P
Year 3 - 56 GP 36P
Jarvis
Year 1 - 68 GP 40P (Playoffs 14GP 8P)
Year 2 - 82 GP 39P (Playoffs 15GP 10P)
Year 3 - 59 GP* 47 P* (*and counting)
Yes, Brady took a jump between year 3 and 4 as he matured physically and while we can't forecast the future, there is no logical reason to assume that Jarvis won't continue to improve as he develops.
We could take a look at their playoff performances, well actually....
I'm not suggesting that Brady doesn't hold more value than Jarvis but it's not as outlandish as some of you make it. Contracts & roster construction also play a large role in determining 'value' hence the Canes refusal to part with Jarvis in a package for Timo Meier last year.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gumshoeismygod</b></div><div>I’m going to be dragged by Ottawa fans, but the Canes decline with ease. Jarvis is on pace for 65 points this year, is 2 years younger, and is a better 2-way player than Tkachuk. He fits the Canes system like a glove, and there is a 0% chance he gets traded for anything short of a bonafide superstar. And as much as Ottawa fans would want you to believe the opposite, Tkachuk is not that</div></div>
Nah youre gonna get dragged by Canes fans too. Tkachuk over Jarvis all day LMFAO

A Fully-Fleshed Out Lacrosse Brothers Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>evelutions2</b></div><div>I’m not going to deny that I really don’t like Zegras. But at the same time, at the very best in Rod’s system, if he is any better than 60-70 points I would be surprised. Don’t get me wrong, he has amazing talent. In the right system with the right linemates, he can probably be a 90-100 point guy. I wholeheartedly believe he would fail in Carolina.</div></div>
Carolina's top scorer last year had 71 points.
Zegras could fit into 2C or Teravainen's spot...give em two good scoring lines.
At under $5.8m for next three years...I actually think it would be good fit.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheReelChuckFletcher</b></div><div>The question isn't what he is now, but what he can be down the road after multiple years with Rod Brind'Amour. This is a 22 year old player with God-given playmaking skills that you can't teach. I don't disagree that it's a huge gamble based on what we know in his short career, but if said gamble pans out, Zegras can be yet another window-extender for a club who already has one in Jarvis and another potential one in Nikishin.</div></div>
I think Nadeau might be one of those window-extenders. The kid has an absolutely wicked shot and probably has the second-best shot in the draft outside of Bedard... I also think he'd fit the system better than Zegras

What An Overpay for Buchnevich Looks Like

Settling for 24 and 26 1sts is not a good idea for the Blues. Why are we settling at all? There's no incentive to trade him for an unsuitable offer.

Because even if one is a year or two down the road it gives flexibility to make a move for a player that fits what we'd need in a time frame when we have a better understanding of where we're at when we're trying to push into the contending category.
I understand the sentiment, and share it in some form. I know we wont get back anything close to the impact Buch has, and i know we dont need to trade him this season. But if we're doing it at the draft, unless we do something similar to the Schenn trade Doug made in which we're getting another 1st for taking back bad salary on top, I don't see how we can acquire 2 firsts for Buch past this deadline, this is also disregarding that Kakko while he may not ever reach satisfaction of his draft position is a young NHL player that helps bridge the gap of trying to be competitive while also retooling.
I also understand that defense should probably be the focus here if we're acquiring young talent/prospects. That being said though, there's probably only 4-5 teams that can acquire Buchnevich asset wise, and that's disregarding his 12 team NTC.
It's not a bad decision to wait, but if you're certain you aren't re-signing him, this package certainly checks alot of boxes in terms of helping with what we're probably trying to accomplish.
Don't love the swap of Hayes for Goodrow, would rather just nix that salary whenever Hayes' contract is up.

Bunting's been fine both ways this year. His scoring more than makes up for the defensive woes. I'd much rather have Bunting than Smith
