I know and it merits for his stock to be appealing but you can say he was an overager. By default he played in the USHL cause college hockey was cancelled. IMO you should consider having Tuch and Guhle slightly ahead of him. Farrell could be the real deal no doubt but I'm willing to risk it for this specific trade. SJ is stuck in no-man's land so if I give them a package that spearheads a true rebuilt then they'll take it...IMO.

Check out Sebastien Cossa. I think MTL can nab him in the end of the 1st rnd.

Why not keep KK, sign saad as your winger and keep all those prospects, i view that as a better team then selling to farm to add to foward that do nothing to push the needle. If you wanna sell the farm go after eichel or someone that will actually make a difference. I'm fully on board with pushing for another cup run but this team above struggle to makes the playoffs still so why bother selling off so many assets.</div></div>

I forgot to add. You can argue that Hertl was on pace for 70pts the last 2 yrs. And the reason why he didn't sniff that up until 3 yrs ago, is cause he was behind on the C depth chart for many yrs. Pavelski, Thornton, Couture and Marleau were c*** blocking him. Eichel IMO might be an 80-90 pt guy but I think that Hertl is more complete. He plays top PP and PK units. Also if I can have him at 7.5× 6 yrs, I'll sleep well at night. I can't have Eichel at 10 mill and Suzuki 8mill. It'll be crippling the process of building around them. Obviously I believe the team above is better than our previous edition, so naturally I have to also believe they'll make the playoffs.

Cause I need to give a reason for Ovechkin to sign here. And he won't sign if he sniffs "rebuild". And if Ovechkin signs and we go on a deep playoff run with him, then MTL will remain on top of the destination list of UFAs. Therefore if MTL remains appealing for UFAs, we won't have to solely rely on good drafting and developing like we've always done. I'm eyeing Patty Kane from now, i want him here in 2 yrs.

You're probably right about KK but that's how much I like Bertuzzi. I think he's better than KK right now but KK will eventually surpass him in a few yrs. Same thing for Hertl, thats how much I believe in him. I love those prospects but I'm too impatient to wait till they reach their potential.

The team is worse??? I can't disagree more. Clearly in my world the team above is WORST CASE as good as it was before the acquisitions and only cause Price isn't there. If for the next 3-6 yrs our C depth consists of Suzuki, Hertl, Krejci and Poehling... IMO we're solid. I didn't give up any picks so we have time to replenish the prospects cupboard and probably have developed a couple in time to replace Toffoli and the yr after Ovechkin. I got a taste of a cup run and I don't want to wait long to do it again.

8m is what I think they should go up to, after that they cut him loose.
What Saad does, he can do 80% of what Landy doe. and would cost probably 50% of what they sign for in the open market. So you just move on from Landy and find replacements in the top 9. You could probably get 2 wingers for the price of his cap hit</div></div>
Ya he's not worth more than 7.5. Not even DET would give 9. It would require the perfect storm to get 9m.

If that's your untouchable list, then I don't see how Montreal can give us what we need. That's especially true in light of the fact that your 2021 first is only three picks ahead of our 2021 second.</div></div>

We'll take our chances that Lukas Dostal = Cayden Primeau and Jacob Larsson or Josh Mahura = Mattias Norlinder. Jakob Perreault is clearly a better prospect than Jesse Ylonen and Brayden Tracey is clearly a better prospect than Jan Mysak. Byron and Lehkonen are surplus to us.
If Gibson were in the last year of his contract, we would consider this. Any more term, and it makes absolutely no sense to trade quality and quantity for quantity and no quality.</div></div>
Ok so what would you want from MTL for Gibson? Suzuki, Caufield, KK Romanov and Poehling are untouchable. You want picks??

Why would I need any of my current prospects not named Poehling, when most of my top 9 is signed long term. I have plenty of D prospects to give up my best LD prospect. And Primeau is 1 of the best goalie prospects not in the NHL. There's a reason why MTL's prospect pipeline ranked in the top 5 of most publications.

Landeskog would want 8M$+ if he's to sign somehwere else than AVS. Under that I think he'll stay in Colorado at a huge discount.
Would also be surprised to see Krejci sign in MTL.. You know.. the hate between the two teams.. LOL!

If you don't think the team I put together isn't better than what we had in the playoff run, then our assessments of talent and needs are very different. Every move I did is to improve our chances of winning a cup while Price can play at the current level. Ya perhaps on paper I over payed but most of those contracts are long enough to buy us time to replenish the prospect cupboard. Just to make it clear the Hertl deal is only going through if he immidiately agrees (behind closed doors) to resign with us.
