Trouba and Skinner
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>WALaxer19</b></div><div>From Chicago's point of view, it would probably have to be five years, because otherwise the compensation would go up. For example, if the same cap hit was for 7 years, it would mean the offer sheet cap hit would be $10.85 million, which would result in four first round picks. The Hawks could bump it to $8 million/year for 5 years and still be at the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round pick compensation level. Would Winnipeg pass on an $8 million cap hit?</div></div>
Def gets it closer to the pass territory. If not pass it'd make it hard for WPG to be able to keep Buff and Wheeler and likely need to move one or both if they did want to match (which I assume they'd do).
Only real issues are a) Offer sheets are rarely if ever signed and b) CHI likely wouldn't do that to WPG with the Bowman-Chevy history.

That offer sheet would hurt Winnipeg and though I think they'd match it would be hard to do that for only 5 years!

Meh Mason has 1 year left on his deal and he's in a contract year (arguably his last contract) so if he wants to keep playing even as a backup he'll have to have a good year. Also he couldn't possibly be as unlucky as last season

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BiscuitBakesandHotTaeks</b></div><div>Please WPG fans...
you are not getting the 10OA pick for Myers, even with spare parts included.
1. He has 1 year left. Even if there is “an extension” he’s not taking a pay cut from his 5.5M salary. EDM would be better off cutting cap elsewhere and going after Carlson and saving 10OA
2. You basically need to get rid of him... everyone knows that WPG is in a cap crunch. You aren’t getting “full price” because other GMs will call your bluff
3. Myers has been an inconsistent player and managed to shine as a 4/5th D on a good team. What team would move 10OA for that?
You might be able to get a lottery protected 2019 1st and a B prospect plus a late pick. 10OA in a deep draft? No way.
EDM is better off trading up for Bouchard.</div></div>
You guys should have likely fired Chiarelli if that's the kind of rational radical thinking you were after! Realistically I think this deal is something he'd bite on fast based on his comments in interviews

18-19 Jets v3.0
All and all pretty good. Only way the NYI trade happens is if Tavares leaves and if that's the case I don't know that they'd want Little as his replacement. Also NYI doesn't really need old D so likely not interested in Kulikov. EDM trade is very unlikely as well. They need more scoring wingers with top 6 potential not less. Puljujarvi isn't available in that trade and that deal is more likely for just the 10th OA. Still like the way the CAP is managed though and the team gets younger!

How would they fit Tavares?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rtapp326</b></div><div>Something like that could work, but consider this when evaluating Turris as a trade piece. In the Duchene trade, Turris was flipped from Ottawa through Colorado to Nashville. The predators gave up Sam Girard, Vladislav Kamenev, and a 2nd rounder for Turris. Girard is a year younger than Bean and is already in the NHL as a similar type of player, plus the Avs got two more pieces. I think it would take more than Bean to get Turris.</div></div>
Bean was the start point but won't be much more than that I'd imagine. Still Bean and a pick or other prospect for Turris is fine it just can't be any significant salary and has to be able to go down to the minors

Move Turris put a league min contract in the press box boom problem solved. MTL, CAR both looking for C's and have draft picks/prospects that can be sent down to continue development. Turris for Bean maybe?

Doesn't work within the realm of the CAP because Jets would almost certainly incur a bonus overage the next season when they'd need that CAP space the most. You need to add one more roster player and shed approx 3.3M in salary just to be at the CAP assuming all bonuses are paid and a 23 man roster.

Hypothetical trade with Jets....
Jets fan...take that all day every day! Enstroms replacement on the Left at a reasonable CAP hit with term. Right side is the strongest point right now and Poolman can step in on that bottom pairing. Run Morrisey-Trouba, Niku/Klefbom-Buff, Klefbom/Kulikov (if niku doesn't make the team)-Poolman and that D-Core is solid. Dano/Petan, Myers are costs the Jets can and should expend to solidify their LHD.

exactly. What's an extra 1.75M per when you'd get him an additional 4-5 years at that price!
Morrisey is a shutdown guy with an offensive side. To also suggest he only looks good next to Trouba is wrong as he played all last year next to Buff and looked just fine even making up for a lot of Buffs bad pinches etc.
Morriseys trajectory has gone nothing but up so to bridge him would be foolish because yeh, you'd save 1.75M per for 3 years, but if that path continues you'll be spending 2-4M per when you'll need that CAP space the most (Laine, Connor, Ros, Wheeler all due in the next year)

Tavares
Doubt CAR will retain on Darling AND spend more on Rinne. MTL makes that deal all day for Johannson and says thanks very much! The only thing left then is the CAP issue. Likely CAP goes up to 80ish M so you'll gain 5M there but the non-retention from CAR puts you at about 500K CAP space after bonuses which is cutting it really close! Have to Think Tavares would consider NSH as a prefered choice too so that's def feasible. NSH somehow looks scarier!

Bridging Morrisey would be a very big mistake. He's already a top pairing LHD the jets have needed for so long and he's still getting better. Bump him up to 5M fo 6-7 years. Trouba also likely takes a bit more 6.5ish more likely especially at that term.
I'd also prefer a bottom pairing of Kulikov Poolman with Carrick as the 7th D but that's semantics. I don't think you have 4.8M sitting in the PB. Also I really doubt you trade Little to a divisional rival. MTL might make that trade though too so that's a wash also.

Does This Fix The Team? Florida and Winnipeg Trade.
WPG says no. You'd need a better player in there along with that 1st (8OA). Look what 2 years of Duchene got COL and now think that a top pairing 23 year old RHD who's currently playing in the WCF has 2 years left as well....RHD are the most valuable asset in the league that have top pairing potential never mind are playing that role so that's really not enough

Still not there value wise. Nylander for Hamilton value can be argued as being fair, though young RHD are hard to come by and I think that cost would be Nylander and the 1st for Hamilton personally. Then you'd have Marleau for Tkachuk and Brouwer which I don't think CGY does despite the need for someone like Nylander. If they don't have to give up Tkachuk value might be closer

Oilers Winnipeg Blockbuster
It's an interesting idea from a WPG standpoint but don't think it's feasible due to the CAP hit accompanying Draisaitl where as Ehlers has a sweetheart deal at 6M per. Then to have to throw in the completely underrated Adam Lowry and that cost might be too high for the Jets. Though I agree on the premise they could use another top C.

2. The cap is projected to be 80-85m I set it at 80m and if it only rises to 80m then either Grabner can not be signed or Pominville can be traded. Its not that hard to find a solution to that so idk why you're acting so clueless.
3. See #2
4. Carter Hutton led the league in save % on a team that didnt even make the playoffs.
Do some research before you make yourself look like a complete idiot lol.</div></div>
I wrote a whole column debating you further and instead just deleted it to say that I like Carter Hutton but he's not a starter at 32 and isn't going to be one despite his excellent numbers. He played on much better defensive teams than BUF and the one issue this team didn't address is defense with the exception of adding another offensive D and a very good play driving C. Also I don't know what research you'd have liked me to do to "seem like less of an idiot" because it's clear you did none yourself with regards to how bonues, and the CAP works as well as roster management

SOOO many things wrong here.
1) If Tavares doesn't sign back in NYI he's DEF not signing in BUF. Teams been a tire fire forever and Rasmus Dahlin doesn't instantly change that
2) Your "23" man roster only has 840K in CAP space, and is at "20" players...you need 3 guys on that roster at league min. yet and you're under by about 1M.
3) To the above, you're already above the CAP and you're also not factoring in bonuses which, add about 2.5M for Dahlin and 2.5M for Midlestadt.
4) To call a team being led by Carter Hutton in net with Chad Johnson as the backup "Stanley Cup Contenders" is absolutely ridiculous.
I appreciate the effort that goes into making a mock GM team but more work to be done and signing Tavares isn't the answer!
