Since when was Ceci a dump? He's the most valuable player you traded - if he's a dump so are the others.
And then you signed a 3rd pair defenseman to play 1st pair! Talk about going backwards.

Edmonton has no interest in Edmundson, even if he was free. They already have Nurse, Ekholm, Kulak and Broberg under contract to play LHD.
You'll have to retain 50% on Edmundson to get anyone interested, and even then you probably have to throw in picks. Everyone knows about his ongoing herniated disc issues and his subsequent ineffective play.

(NSH/EDM) - Ekholm and 6th for Barrie, Schaefer, 1st and 4th
Update: since this trade Edmonton looks much, much better. Not only has Ekholm vastly outperformed Barrie, but Bouchard has been set free now with a bigger role.
Barrie: 6, 1-1-2, even
Ekholm: 6, 1-2-3, +7
Bouchard: 6, 1-5-6, +3
In a surprise twist, Cody Ceci has also been jumping into the play more, as shown by his 4 points in the past 6 games. More offense wasn't what I was expecting from this trade!

They aren't saving money here though, so that's a non-starter.
I mean, why not trade McDavid for Evan's? That will save Edmonton a LOT of money, so they'd have to add several picks, right? That's where you're going with this.

I agree, $3M is pretty steep for a 3rd pairing guy. It's not the end of the world, but it's certainly an inefficient use of cap space.

Edmonton has 4 LD - Nurse, Ekholm, Kulak and Broberg - under contract next year. I don't see why they would be interested in Edmundson, especially for a 2nd and especially with his back injuries.

IF YOURE GOING TO TRADE FOR WILSON READ THIS
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ClockReads2113</b></div><div>Nah not really. He'd easily hit those numbers in a full season and GMs know that. If Jeannot is getting a kings ransom for his speed, hitting, and skill (which isn't even close to Wilson's), Wilson would bring in an absolute insane return. It's only logical.</div></div>
No it isn't logical. Everyone knows that the Lightning will over pay for they player-type they want provided that player comes with a minimal cap hit. See Coleman ($1.8M), Goodrow ($925k), Savard ($1M), Hagel ($1.5M), Jeannot ($800k). If Wilson cost less than $2M you could argue this point, but he doesn't. Tampa overpaid for <em>VALUE</em> deals, Wilson isn't one.

Many believe it. Wish Caps would trade him just to prove the point but it isn't happening. Not going to find another Tom Wilson out there.</div></div>
Availability is a skill. One that Wilson doesn't possess... <em>which reduces his value.</em> To attribute 25 goals and 55-60 points to a 29 year old who has never hit those numbers even once in his career is not helping your case at all. You clearly have an inflated sense of his worth, and are blind to that fact.

If you thought Tanner Jeannot got a lot because he plays fast and physical, just imagine what Wilson, a player 5 times better would get.</div></div>
Hilarious. He's never once scored 25 goals or 55 points in a season, yet you're attributing those numbers to him as if they're career averages or something.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>busters99</b></div><div>Does Foegle play Center and PK? Goodrow has played the floater role with adeptness, fits in on any line and in any position when needed, and provides leadership in the B6. He is a GG favorite and Drury does not want to lose him (of course due to the Cap he might have to, but I tend to think this won't happen). If Foegle is thought of in the same light by the Oilers then they have a keeper. My impression was that his play hasn't been as effective since the Oilers acquired him.</div></div>
He's certainly been more effective than Goodrow, the link I posted earlier shows that quite clearly.
Foegele does NOT play center. But that's not a problem for a team that already has McDavid, Draisaitl, Nugent-Hopkins and McLeod at center. (I wouldn't be surprised if Bjugstad re-signs, either.) Edmonton needs wingers, not centers.
Because of that there may well be teams out there willing to acquire Goodrow to augment their center depth, but Edmonton isn't one of them.

Ceci isn't the odd man out at all - Broberg is a lefty. The obvious odd man out is Kulak, what with Nurse, Ekholm and Broberg under control for term.
And you don't have any depth anyhow, you've got a 20 man roster with no cap space.

Trading your 1st pairing RD for a mid-round pick seems counterproductive. Especially since you didn't replace him with a better player.
Also a 20-man that is tight to the cap is just begging for trouble. Injuries happen.

I think Matthews to Edmonton makes more sense, TBH. He and McDavid and fairly close (they train together in offseason) and the opportunity to put those two together would be attractive to both Edmonton and Matthews. (Don't forget, with a full NMC, Matthews has 100% control over where he goes at the deadline).

Wilson is waaaaaay better than Lucic, mainly because Wilson can skate like the wind. It's going to cost an arm and a leg to trade for him.</div></div>
I didn't say Kane was the same as Wilson, I said he's twice the player. And he is - every bit as physical and nasty to play against but far more skilled. And the best part of it is - he gets paid the same as Wilson. Huge win there.
Wilson would be sought after if offered to the market, but the prices wouldn't be anywhere near what you think. There's simply no business case to pay that much for a 20 goal, 40 point player who is paid north of $5M.

He is 100% better than ceci especially this season and analytics back that up and Konecny would absolutely kill it with draisaitl unlike yamo who struggles to finish</div></div>
Your "data" isn't adjusted to QoC, clearly. There's a reason why Gudas gets sheltered third pairing minutes while Ceci faces NHL's best every night.
Until you understand the difference your player valuation will be off.
