Blockbuster with BUF
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>V1NnY2</b></div><div>Mitts has virtually the same numbers as Caufield this year and would have been second on the team in points last year by a mile. Is he a true elite/all-star caliber player? No. But is he a young quality top 6 player with decent size? Yes.
I’d be curious to see what you expect as a return in a legitimate offer for Reinbacher.</div></div>
Don’t get me wrong, i like Mittlestadt but he isn’t a top tier forward. He would be a nice addition to Mtl roster that for sure but not at the cost of a futur top righthanded defenseman. Buffalo didn’t even received a prospect of that caliber in the Eichel trade.
A late first and Logan Mailloux or Justin Barron would be much more a return to expect. Historically if you look at similar profile player in a similar position then Mittlestadt this is the return. Fiala deal is probably a great start to what the return would look like.
At the time of the trade Faber was a good prospect but he wasn’t a high profile prospect with the 19th overall pick. I think that this is what to expect in a trade for Mittlestadt.
As for Reinbacher, 5th overall pick aren’t traded a year after being traded. Unless you are talking about the top tier players.

It's fair value... but I'm not sure the habs would pull the trigger on it so soon. IF you look at the pre-draft video, they see him as the prototypical top pairing RHD that help teams win a stanley cup.
Is he really (probably not)? it's too early to tell. but to pass on Michkov, they must have had a good reason.

I think what <a href="/users/V1NnY2" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@V1NnY2</a> did here makes a fair bit of sense
On his own, Reinbacher doesn’t fix our RD issues NOW,
but he gave us Savard as well, to presumably be a bridge to Reinbacher
It’s a deal that at least makes some sense from the Sabres pov
And that’s frankly rare coming from what Habs fans usually post

Ok, now THIS IS FINALLY a trade package that could actually be of interest to Buffalo
We’d likely have to send u Clifton as well though,
bc we’d have too many defensemen
But Reinbacher COULD “move the needle” to get us to think about moving Mitts
And Savard might be of interest if he comes along with an “heir apparent” like that
Idk that it would happen
But this is at least reasonable from the Sabres perspective
I’m curious to see what other Habs fans think though….
is Reinbacher untouchable?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TkachukNorris79</b></div><div>No way Ottawa bites on that</div></div>
I'd be happy to get Bourgeaut + 2nd for Tarasenko
Ceci is not a cap dump, since he can't come back to Ottawa, I'd flip him right away at 50% to get some more value
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bobrick</b></div><div>So... you want the Sens to basically trade Hamonic for Ceci (who makes 2 million plus more) and who isn't wanted back in Ottawa. And Janmark who doesn't help Ottawa in any way. A late 2nd round pick and Bourgault who also isn't needed. And you want Vlad at 50% retained? Ottawa can do better by just getting a 1st from another team.
Also there is no way SJ touches that deal. You're not unloading Campbell that easily.</div></div>
Flip Ceci at 50% right away and the deal looks good
Janmark is UFA and Hamonic has one more season, that would be beneficial too

Draft
-This trade is tough. Guenther has had NHL success but Hutson feels like a higher ceiling guy. I think Montreal would blink on this one and keep the higher upside play.
-I don't think Allen gets back a haul, but I think someone will bite this summer. Sharks feel unlikely because they will still be in rebuild mode, but there are teams out there looking for a solid 1B and Allen can pull that off reasonably well.
-I think Calgary would take a swing at one of your excess D over Ylonen - they have a ton of UFAs and a guy like Jayden Struble is probably more valuable than another bottom-6 forward. I don't think this is a bad trade, but it feels like one of those trades that fans of both teams are mildly annoyed by.
-The easiest no here. Both players are overpaid against their production, but Lee is actually still a somewhat useful NHL player. Add in the fact that Lee's overpaid deal only has 2 years left after this while Anderson's has 3. Oh, and Lee is the captain of the team and has a full NTC that turns into a 15-team over the summer.
-Florida would be selling low on Lundell if they moved him right now. He's still young enough that I wouldn't want to trade him right now. This package is nothing to sneeze at, but I still think the Panthers keep Lundell and hope he can look more like his rookie year self again.

Oh and Florida has $5,7M deadline capspace and $30M next season (see? Those are facts!), they can totally afford him.

And why would the Habs pay anything with 14 million in unused cap space on this roster? Even in keeping Gallagher they could still add an 8 million dollar player and be under the cap ... in this scenario anyway ...
