Ive seen a lot worse, Reinbacher doesn't help Buffalo now, but that's what they'd be looking for in return

Ok, now THIS IS FINALLY a trade package that could actually be of interest to Buffalo

We’d likely have to send u Clifton as well though,
bc we’d have too many defensemen
But Reinbacher COULD “move the needle” to get us to think about moving Mitts
And Savard might be of interest if he comes along with an “heir apparent” like that

Idk that it would happen
But this is at least reasonable from the Sabres perspective
I’m curious to see what other Habs fans think though….
is Reinbacher untouchable?

He COULD be in the lineup next year and help right now, but if not, you get a serviceable RHD in Savard to wait an extra year.

I think what @V1NnY2 did here makes a fair bit of sense
On his own, Reinbacher doesn’t fix our RD issues NOW,
but he gave us Savard as well, to presumably be a bridge to Reinbacher

It’s a deal that at least makes some sense from the Sabres pov
And that’s frankly rare coming from what Habs fans usually post

Pretty sure fellow Habs fans won’t like this (it’s got Drouin vs Sergachev vibes) but the way I see it is the Habs will be in a position to draft either Levshunov or Parekh.

So, with Barron, Mailloux, Konyushkov (plus Boqvist in the Laine trade), Reinbacher can become expendable for the right player(s).

Probably makes more sense on the BUF side than MTL, but thought it was fun to entertain the idea !

Reinbacher is untouchable unless they received a elite talent in return. That not the case here.

Well even if the Habs wouldn’t do it,
I do appreciate you looking at it from the Sabres pov

Bc there’s A TON of crap proposals on here for Mitts
And now a bunch for Tuch are happening- and he’s frankly untouchable

A surplus for a need. I think I could get behind this inter divisional trade.

Habs turned down better offers than this for Reinbacher, turned down Michkov, turned down 13th overall 22nd overall and Askarov AND turned down Cutter Gauthier for Reinbacher.

So this isn't particularly close to what they would be willing to accept

My only reason Id say no is trading both Mitts and Krebs in the division seems pretty bad.

It's fair value... but I'm not sure the habs would pull the trigger on it so soon. IF you look at the pre-draft video, they see him as the prototypical top pairing RHD that help teams win a stanley cup.

Is he really (probably not)? it's too early to tell. but to pass on Michkov, they must have had a good reason.

Jackets easily decline. Not much there of actual value after offsetting the cost to dump Anderson, which including him basically kills the deal anyway.

You know you did something wrong when Buffalo fans accept your offer....

8 years of Reinbacher are worth way more than 4 years of Krebs. Not even close.

Reinbacher shouldn't be available, but Montreal's 1st could be used to draft your own RHD.
I'd consider them interchangeable but would prefer to keep the one in hand already.
Mittelstadt would not be my target if I'm moving that 1st however, I'd be more interested in Cozens or I'd poke around the league to see who else could be shaken loose if that pick were involved.
Who would Buffalo prefer to keep?

Krebs doesn't interest me at all. I wouldn't expect him to be replaced in this proposal with something better, but he doesn't sway me towards accepting either.
Same with Clifton (but reversed). I'd take practically any forward contract instead but it wouldn't make me reject (would depend on how much money is coming back total though).
If we were to move both Savard and Reinbacher (we have the same succession plan), we'd have to be signing a RHD capable of 20+ minutes as a prerequisite for making such a deal.

I can see the appeal and how it might work for both sides, so it's not inherently terrible, but I personally don't think Montreal should be trading those assets for Mittelstadt.
It gives me Gomez/Drouin vibes where we give up what ends up being a 1st pairing D for a C that ends up faceplanting in Montreal, and we have a chance to acquire a (eventual) better forward with the pick.

Not a lot of value coming the other way either considering the cap hits TBH, Pascal Vincent has made sure of that…

Well, it's not another KJ trade, so credit for that. But we didn't want that contract for Andy when it was signed and we still don't now, and neither of the other guys are of any real interest (we have more than enough young wingers and blueliners). We're in no real rush to move Laine either. A conversation can be had around Boqvist, but this isn't a good basis for it (I mean, we'd take the 1st for him, but that's a bit of an overpayment to say the least).

enough that its going to cost more than a cap dump, a couple mid prospects, and a late 1st. If you want Boqvist you can trade for him with a pick pretty easily.

Very interesting, I don't know if it I would trade both those guys in that Deal. I would be willing to add different pieces without Krebs.

U make fair points
To answer your question, i think the Sabres would prefer to keep Cozens over Mitts. He’s younger & already signed, and more of a goal scorer where Mitts is more of a playmaker type.

I really don’t think we’ll trade either guy though
Mitts likely gets a long term extension this offseason

Agree with most the other CBJ fans here, and the Anderson inclusion is a nonstarter. Probably for Anderson too, who might just list Columbus 8 times for his current 8-team no-trade list.

This convo is so much more refreshing and actually worth talking about than the typical crappy offers tossed out there for Mitts
