Decent term - Great AAV.
Leafs haters in shambles.
Voting no is just outing yourselves
Just gonna edit this in so people can understand why this is a great deal.
4 years ago when we were working on the last AM contract, they were talking about 8 years at 13.8 avv (same % as McDavid). <a href="https://twitter.com/reporterchris/status/1092859349473640452?s=20" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">Evidence</a>
Instead we went with the 511.634 that turned into 11.640,250, and now another 4 at 13.25.
That averages out to 9 years at 12.35aav instead of the 8 years at 13.8aav.
THIS IS A HUGE WIN</div></div>
not a huge win. such a stretch lmao. Good luck addressing the gaping issues in the lineup such as defence and goaltending!

Ranking NHL GMs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafsfan98</b></div><div>The Newhook trade is the easiest example... It supposedly a great trade for the Habs despite Colorado then using that 2nd to get Ross Colton, who's better than Newhook... Not a very good move
Dvorak trade
Jake Allen extension
as examples</div></div>
another day another leaf fan missing the mark completely.
First off Newhook needs a lesser role on a team with substantially less expectations to cater to his development, which we all learned last season with the departure of Kadri along with injuries slotting him in a top 6 situation - which like Dach, he clearly was not ready for (at least on a team that good). So trading a 2nd for a player with no solidified ceiling (like Dach) is really not anything. To your point about Colton - you need to think for a second and understand what trading an asset to a division rival can result in. Why accept a second round pick from a team you'll meet a lot during the season in exchange for a player who would 1. step into habs lineup and log minutes 2. could fit perfectly in that team and bite Tampa in the ass. Thats bad business; so the "not a very good move" claim is blatantly wrong.
Second, use your head; nobody on earth wants Dvorak. That was a Bergevin move that the Habs are stuck with. I am sure Hughes has tested the interest and asked other GMs if they'd be interested and probably none were. Not really Hughes' fault Bergevin signed a mediocre player and signed him on a horrible contract.
If the Habs dont resign Jake Allen, they concede double the amount of goals they allowed. Not that Allen is elite by any means, but he carried the load that Primeau clearly cannot. You need NHL goaltending to log games. That signing was necessary, but you likely didn't know any of the context behind any of these decisions which isn't your fault.
Keep watching Hockey, you'll get it.

If there’s someone really clawing his way to a spot on the team it’s Brisebois. He seemed to have really played a good role when he had the time up. Another thing to throw in there is Aman>Dries. I think there’s some solid potential for this lineup. Especially with some depth guys like Di Giuseppe and Dries.</div></div>
You're right about Brisebois; hard worker and I like his skill set. A guy I feel could step up gigantic this season or next. You are not alone on Aman>Dries, lots of nucks fans I've spoken to have said the same thing. You're probably right too, it'll be exciting to see how it turns out this year.
This is a season where the previous bottom feeding/bubble playoff teams might suck the attention away from the great teams in the league!

please, show me where Habs fans think Hughes can do no wrong. Also what trades are questionable? Hughes has flipped Bergevin's horrible post cup run signings and in two years has Montreal possessing a top-10 prospect pool in the league. I think you're alone in that take, and rightfully so.

Draisaitl isn't exactly a great defensive forward so having those two on the same line might not be the best idea. Leon Draisaitl and William Nylander are both very good goal scorers. Plus if you add aho you get a solid two way player than can plot thirty five goals a year</div></div>
well, now you're stepping into delusion land assuming bringing Aho into a team immediately has a defensive improvement like you added Bergeron to the team. Aho is solid defensively but he's not Phil Danault. He isn't shutting down every top line, and that was evident this past playoffs.
Also, every forward who is 22 and under is a defensive liability statistically, especially when the team you're on is bottom-feeding. Not really meaningful to acknowledge his defensive capabilities having known the circumstances and stage of his career he is in.

Also, I can read good enough to know KH doesn't want to start the season with Price on the LTIR list because all the ELC bonuses would be postponed to next year. Now that's accurate.
So whoever you are trading (but not really) back between Hoffman or Armia would make you bust the cap. Maths again, eh!</div></div>
"One of these fellas will be dealt this offseason. Not sure where." What about that is inaccurate writing? I put them in a trade because I believe one of those two will be dealt?... Also I'm sure KH has an answer for both those dilemmas. My assumption is they do. Sue me.

Hey man: it's an interactive hockey website. You could be having an argument with Steve Yzerman for all you know. This chronically online ego of "Ive been makin ACGM's for 75 years; I know who knows the game of hockey and who does not!" is craaaaaaaaazy. He is only no use based on the direction this team is going. Armia was a very useful playoff asset and good defensive bottom six to have on a team that needs some size and muscle. He's not a tough guy but he has an upside. He could slot into the bottom six on any contender and uplift their PK if needed and be hard to play against. He's proven it since he left WPG. You gotta watch everybody regardless of their scoreline.

Farrell would benefit playing in Laval judging by how he looked last year and I don’t think anyone will trade for Armia or Hoffman even with retention unless Habs add draft picks which is unlikely imo</div></div>
I don't think its a long year at all!
The expectations are on the floor and as long as most of the team stays healthy, it'll be fun to see the bright spots of each developing asset on the team. Let them develop some chem, see what it takes to be a dominant NHLer, and take time building a real contender. Most Habs fans who've been paying close attention for the last 20 years, should be sick of the lack of urgency to improve the team - and riding a hot goalie or stars, without a true identity in the league. This coming era for Habs hockey will be scary - enjoy the lack of pressure for now!
