Fire Deboer
We should fire DeBoer for playing 4th liner Barclay Goodrow on the 2nd line. I'm ok with trying Patty out on the top line. He and Cooch played together a lot so maybe they can rekindle some of that chemistry. I'd give Yurt or Berg a chance on that 2nd line for a few games and see if they can build some chemistry

His skating isn't very good, and his shot isn't dangerous like it once was (hand injuries), but he's still got skill, and he's still a smart player. He had a lot of success on the 3rd line last year, playing against weaker competition. In the right situation I think he can hit 50 points again.
This all hinges on him staying healthy of course.</div></div>
Thanks for the reply, good to know!

Bobby Ryan can provide some needed scoring depth and is only signed through 21-22

SJ - OTT Trade
Thanks for the responses all! As a Sharks fan, this is just about getting Jones off the books and getting a fresh face in the net. Since Anderson is only signed through this season, this gives the Sharks to bring in a new tendy in free agency next summer. I think Jones could potentially turn it around if he got a fresh start somewhere, but I just don't see it happening with the Sharks.
OTT fans, can Bobby Ryan still play top 6 minutes? Or is he really washed up?

Point to SJ - for fun
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aspina25</b></div><div>That's not remotely close to an even trade</div></div>
Sharks could add picks and prospects if needed. The idea would be for TB to save some salary cap if they feel like negotiations stall, or if they feel the asking price from Point is too high. At this point, it looks like TB will have to ship out some significant salary to get Point and Erne signed.

Understood, I'm sure we can dump Braun elsewhere. Dell we may have to buyout

Not big on Goodrow. Brings very little offensively, not overly big or physical, good penalty killer but it's not like we can't replace him. I think Gambrell brings much more offensively.

I would happily sign EK65 to 10 million

Gotta think Labanc and Pavelski will earn more after the seasons they had, Timo probably gets more too. Surprised you have Dell, Braun, Melker, and Goodrow still on the roster...I'm hoping we clear out at least two of those guys so we can give more money to Labanc/Pavelski/Timo and maybe even bring in a quality FA 3rd/4th liner.

some hard decisions
First thing that jumps out to me is the 3rd line center spot. I really hope we're not in a situation where 23 is our 3C or we're in trouble. I'd rather put the money we spent on DSP towards a real 3rd line center. If Thornton doesn't retire, he's our answer i think.
Also, I'm hopeful we can re-sign Labanc for closer to $5 mil per and thus, not have to make a trade like that. Although if push came to shove I think it's a fair swap.
Not sure Meier will make that much either, given Hertl's contract.
I definitely agree with shedding Dell, M. Karlsson, and Braun.

Fresh Start SJ Sharks
Picks/prospects could be added by BUF to even out the value, but if we could shed his contract and pick up a young-er top 4 D and some picks I would strongly consider it. Burns is 34 and carries an $8 mil/yer hit through his 40 year old season, so I'm not sure how much more teams would be willing to part with for a contract like that. Not to mention his below average D-play.

Fresh Start SJ Sharks
Thanks for the reply,
I realize it's unlikely Burns would waive for BUF, but I thought it was an interesting basis for a trade. I didn't realize Risto had fallen off that much. From the Sharks point of view, the purpose of this retool would be to get younger and shed Burns' long term contract, even if it means taking a step back. Pavelski had a great season this year, but most Sharks fans believe he will get worse from here on out. Instead of giving him a 3 yr deal at $7-8 per, going with a cheaper option with more potential in Dzingel/Ferland seemed like a fresh idea.
I realize this is all unlikely, but this years' playoffs have been concerning to say the least. I believe there's more to it than just goaltending (coaching, team defense, special teams).
Anyways, I appreciate your reply.

Sharks 19-20
Thanks for your input. Whether we add picks or prospects on our end to make it more enticing for MTL, or remove the 1st from MTL and make it multiple 2nd and 3rd round picks coming back to SJ, my thinking was Vlasic could be convinced to waive for MTL since that's where he's from originally. For the sake of this Sharks roster, the point is to clear Vlasic's contract off the books. I'm betting we could find a team that's willing to take on his contract.
