I am not totally convinced that you aren't Armstrong. Somehow we are supposed to look at this and think, wow it could be worst if we replaced him.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ToneCapone420</b></div><div>Curious, what do you think Toronto's biggest problems are right now?</div></div>
1.) I don't see the need for the Leafs to go out and get a 3rd line center when you have Matthews and Tavares, its just not a need unless ROR, Horvat, or Tavares can comfortably play the wing. But at that point I would rather get a dedicated winger.
2.) They have to much cap in three players. Ideally trade Tavares.
3.) If you wanted to trade with St. Louis, I would be looking at Faulk or Krug

This adds star power but doesn't really tackle Toronto's real problems. And I don't see why you would want Horvat and ROR not to mention resigning either of them would be almost impossible.

I think this could be tweaked but realistically I don't see 'the future' having really shown anything super special to regret selling for this kind of a shot. Maybe to it with the intention of resigning either Tarasanko orROR

Everybody? How about a few folks and the point still stands. No one gives up multiple picks to drop a 3 mill player to save a year.

A 1st and a 3rd.
2nd of all Taylor hall had won the hart a year prior while tarasenko was having 3 major surgeries. When hall was traded that was the low point in his value while tarasenko is at the high point. There’s a much lower chance that tarasenko improves more than there was for hall. Hall was also much more extension friendly as he was ~3 years younger then than tarasenko is now. Taylor Hall was much more valuable then than VT is now and the fact that the package that hall got is only slightly more than this proves my point.</div></div>
The mental gymnastics on this... What we established was that your first point was talking out your ass. Teams trade for rentals and pay 1st's for talent to win the cup. Even if your more recent argument held water, which it doesn't, you still have a rental player going for multiple firsts.

2019 Taylor Hall. New Jersey acquired a 1st, 3rd, and a prospect that was drafted in the first round, second round, and third round. For Taylor Hall and a 3rd round prospect.
So..... two 1st's, and a 2nd for a guy that put up 6 goals, 19 assists in 30 games at that point in the year which is almost identical to what Tarasenko is doing.

Because Detroit was basement swelling until they picked off a lot of the Blues players that weren't getting the minutes. Detroit can use players like that

All of this considered we'd have to be sub bubble team for Army to move anyone.
That being said, I'd expect Tarasanko to fetch more, why would we ever trade Parayko, I agree with trading Schenn, and the ROR deal would get better offers

Do you have some historical evidence for a 3 million dollar player representing a 4% cap hit with a year and half left being dumped for multiple picks.

Edmonton is missing 2 more lines to be contenders. They don't have actual trade pieces and what they would need to trade will never happen so the average offer ends up being: you give up seasoned talent for our spare parts.

I mean if you pull that move off, Im going to vegas to put money on the Bruins winning it all. That being said, why would the blues want a former 3rd and the last pick in the 1st round for 1/2 retention on Tarasanko. That costs more, no ones giving you a cup that easily.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>Guess we shouldn't offer Huberdeau either since that will get the same response. Bloated contract, best years are behind him, probably only puts up 30 points right?
Or maybe you should ask yourself why the goal scorer who's scored on around 16-20% of their shots over the previous 3 seasons is only shooting at 9% so far after these 17 games.</div></div>
The guy would have more goals if he had more goals? He'd have more points if he'd have more points? Do you understand your argument? He'd score more if he shot more? The point is he doesn't score more because he doesn't shoot. And somehow that percentage is suppose to magically hold up when it scales? He's a 26 year old 6th round draft pick, with a 5.8 cap hit who is on pace to once again put up 30 points. We aren't trading Tarasanko for a guy who will "potential" shoot. And Mag's best years aren't behind him, hes never produced at a level to be a cornerstone piece for someone like Tarasanko.

Guys best year was last year and looks like an outlier. You want someone on a bloated contract close to 6 mill that's about to kick in a M-NTC who puts up 30 points as the main piece for Tarasanko. Expect to hear crickets when you phone the offer over to DA

HAWKS TDL
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>Considering everyone thought he was "washed up", his two way game has come back, he is on pace for 50+ points, and he dominates at the dot, "insane" is still probably an overstatement, but "insanely better than most people thought he would be this season" is a valid statement. Not to mention, he is a veteran leader and 3 time stanley cup winner... I don't think a late 1st round pick this year is out of the question, and a 2024 or 2025 1st round pick, or something comparable in value, is definitely not out of the question.</div></div>
That's not how any of it works. People dont trade for players based on how they performed versus expectations. If toews was projected to put up 5 goals and scores 10, literally no one cares. What they actually care about is how is a 5 million dollar player going to perform who will change the team chemistry for better or worst. His productivity has been declining and all the conjecture about a 3 time cup champ is removed when he's gone to the playoffs once in the past five years. If he's hovering around 25 goals during the trade deadline I could see him getting a similar package to Giroux. All that being said, it is highly unlikely Chicago trades him, I'd expect a deal to take him into retirement. And the Avs aren't really hurting for centers
