That's because he isn't an upgrade from Maatta and I'd happily take Maatta over Savard. Detroit adding Berggren and a pick is just silly.

just wondering what Some of these players would go for if dealt
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wingsfannn</b></div><div>just curious what happened to him cause I remember him being pretty good in the juniors. Oh well</div></div>
A combination of things. As a player he's never taken that next step that you want to see, but it hasn't been all on him either. The Gulls have been a train wreck for three years running now with super poor coaching and a lack of development across the board. It didn't help that Anaheim was so bad that they pulled all the best talent like McTavish straight into the NHL making the talent level in San Diego lower than it should be. Throw in the chaos of the pandemic for a few of Tracey's key development years and here we are.
He might be one of those guys that plugs away in the minors and finally puts it together at age 25 or 26, but that's fighting the odds for sure. For his sake I hope so as I have always wanted him and Perreault to succeed. They were Bob Murray picks though so I don't think Verbeek has any attachment to either one. When their contracts expire I expect GMPV to cut bait so he can use those contract slots on "his guys". The only thing that might change that is if one has a great season. Perreault is doing OK so far. Tracey isn't (IMO).

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wingsfannn</b></div><div>Thanks for the reply .mYa I just remember Rees being real good at the world juniors thought for sure he’d make at least the bottom 6. Maybe he’ll get a look elsewhere . As for gunler I remember hearing he took nights off which might explain why he’ll be turning 23 into next season and nowhere in sight and back in Europe. Sadly despite his talent I think he’ll end up staying in Europe at this point</div></div>
It also doesn’t help that the Chicago Wolves decided to screw the Canes by attempting to go independent. It has definitely stunted several of the Canes prospects growth. In particular, Drury, Kochetkov, and a few others. Rees and Gunler would be included on that list as well.

Tracey is a bust IMO. It's extremely unlikely that the Ducks give him a qualifying offer after the season, so if you want him just wait and offer him a contract as a free agent.

Rees is a good C, hardworking and physical. The problem he has in the Canes system is that he doesn’t have a clear pathway to the NHL, at least with Carolina. I mean, for this season, it was a dogfight between Drury, Suzuki, and Ponomarev for the 4C slot, and Drury won it mostly due to Suzuki and Ponomarev getting injured during the preseason, but also due to him already having NHL experience. Rees also would have to deal with the added competition with Pashin and Robidas playing pretty well, and that isn’t counting all the wing prospects he might have to beat out for playing time on the wing. It would be a shame to see him go, but he could probably be had for a 2nd or 3rd. Value is kind of hard to gauge with Rees.
As for Gunler, he seems like he might be a late bloomer, but it seems as time continues on, he becomes more of a boom or bust prospect. Value is hard to gauge with him as well, with a 2nd or 3rd probably being enough, but he should at least be a good bottom 6 option, maybe someone like Noesen is who he develops into. Gunler also has some stiff competition on the wings he would have to beat out for NHL playing time, and with guys like FUS, Blake, Emerson, Lucius, Mukhanov, Nadeau, Perron, Trikozov, and Perevalov all being younger and developing really well so far, he has a tough route to the NHL.

Turcotte is still waiver exempt so no rush for LA to move him. However, Tobias Bjornfot will be on the move first, and I fully expect Turcotte to be a healthy scratch next year until he proves he deserves a spot. From what I can tell, he isn't far off. Lafreniere and Turcotte were the last two players to be sent down before Arvidsson got injured.

They would miss 3 games but since the Griffins aren't playing well. So I don't know if that would be a reason to not let them go or let them go. If they let them go maybe they come back and their play improves.

Moves by deadline and next season roster
I can see Tampa definitely interested in someone like Sprong. There are ways to make the cap work as well(retention, involving a 3rd team if needed, sending a player down/making another move). It wouldn't be that difficult to fit him in. I'm not sure how much interest they'd have in Fischer though.

So, after a stellar pre-season (which everyone knows is the highest quality of hockey), the league went from a 1st to dump him, to him not being a major capdump?

We’d been better off giving more $ and signing duchene and klingberg for a season and giving them tons of ice time to boost trade value for the deadline. Right now our bait is perron Sprong kubalik . We’ll be lucky to fetch a 2nd
Ya nevermind winning a cup were no where near a playoff spot and I predict copp will be bought our before his contract ends OR he’ll be a 5.6 4th line player</div></div>
Man i was agreeing with you. I was saying this signings are the kind of thing that makes the team good not great. I don't think Copp Compher and Kasper second line wins you a stanley cup especially when larkin is a mid level first line center and Raymond is still unproven whether he's an elite player or just a good player.
I think they have lot's of good prospects and a good backend. But they have no high end lethal scoring threats. No matter who they go up against in their division the opposition will have a better high end scorer than Detroit.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gdhvbhfbngf</b></div><div>I originally targeted Mayfield, Killorn, Oreilly, Fischer and Korpisalo/Varlamov. I was even considering Engvall, but look at those deals.
Killorn (34) 6,25Mx4
Oreilly (32) 4,5Mx4
Mayfield (31) 3,5Mx7
Korpisalo (29) 4Mx5
Varlamov (35) 2,75Mx4
Engvall (27) 3Mx7
I would’ve gone Killorn 2y, Oreilly 2y, Mayfield 4y, korpisalo/Varlamov 2y and Engvall 2y.
Compfer deal is okay because he is 28 and right handed who can play either W or C.</div></div>
That Engvall deal is a sad joke. Idk WTF the Islanders are doing.

They should do the full 50% for a better return. If MG retains 1-2.5mil he's failed.

The biggest question would be when Yzerman asks Copp and Chiarot what Wheeler is like in the locker room. If he’s a part of the problem it’s no deal. Otherwise would be happy to add the player at this price

Yeah I'd do that for wheeler, one-year and you could even retain and flip him at the deadline for atleast the same thing. Good passer play him with Larkin and hope for the best.
