That's your opinion and I disagree especially if Raymond continues to play like he did last season. Need to win in the next four years while Larkin and DeBrincat are in their prime.

Because this trade sucks for Wings and is great for Islanders from a player and a cap situation.

Let me say your trades are horrible and You know nothing about hockey or finances

If isles were selling Nelson, Red Wings have enough ammo to obtain him without using Raymond.

We’re not winning jack **** in the next 4 years . Trading a top 5 pick who’s a decade younger than the guy you want to bring in with where this team is at is beyond moronic

Disagree because this lineup can win now and Lucas Raymond isn't that good

Thats your opinion and I disagree with it. Raymond will only get better, and is a part of the young core. Odd to say a team that struggles to score goals needs to rid themselves of a 22 year old with 100 career points already lol

You are very short sighted in assuming the Wings need to win in the next 4 years. Then again you’d probably be happy with one cup and another decade of cellar dwelling.
Most Wing fans see the vision SY has set up, and want to have a run like Tampa, not a one and done like MTL.

Curious what exactly Raymond needs to do for you to realize he isn’t a weak link on this team (since everyone knows he isn’t getting moved this year)?

Both teams decline. NYI isn't trading Nelson. Detroit isn't even a play of team yet and there is a 10yr age gap between Nelson and Raymond. That alone is more than more than enough reason for Detroit to decline. When you compare Nelson's and Raymond's first 2 seasons you will see that Raymond on a higher trajectory than Nelson.

Nelson is 10 YEARS older than Raymond.

After Nelson's first 2 seasons he had played in 152 games and put up 68 points.

After Raymond's first 2 seasons he had played in 154 games and put up 102 points.

If they can't win in the next four years then you shouldn't have signed Larkin to eight years

One, I didn’t sign him. The guy with proven success did.
Two, without Larkin, this team falls further into the basement.
Three, you need to learn how prospect development works.
Four, take a look at all these players you trade Raymond for and compare their careers when they were 20-21, or when they hit milestones, or their GP in comparison.

Is Yzerman going live off his success in Tampa forever? How many years does he get of missing the playoffs? You develop your prospects in the AHL. Don't be surprised if you see Raymond there this year.

You don’t like answering questions. Maybe try doing that and you will learn. Even with you refusing I’ll still answer yours.

No he isn’t. You have to actually look at what he has done here and have a basic comprehension of how building a team works. In four years he has hit on his picks (as opposed to the “top prospects” selected under Holland). He has made the team more competitive while bringing in a top end prospect pipeline (not my information). You are wrong yet again.

I think I speak for most fans when I say I’d rather miss the playoffs for 10 years if it means a chance for multiple cups and elongated playoff runs. Under SY Detroit is currently at 4 years. Include Holland and its 7.
