(SJS/VGK) - Hertl, 2025 3rd (SJS), 2027 3rd (SJS) for Edstrom, 2025 1st (VGK)
2 high 3rd going out, 2 low 1st coming in.
Basically upgrading only one full round, twice. This is not valuable at all. Clearly not worth a 1C and/or $8M of retained salary

Treliving Trades for an RD

How does adding a 3rd Round Pick + Waivers Exempt RFA RD and RFA replacement Player not help a Rebuilding MTL Team!?</div></div>
I mean, he can. But I don't know why any team would want him to, he's not all that effective there.
Montreal doesn't really need more mid-round picks, they've picked more than 7 guys in 5 straight drafts (usually around 10) and have at least 10 picks in 2024 and 2025 right now. Pezz plays an important role for a rebuilding team that Gregor can't play. And with injuries and young D, Montreal needs D to play in the NHL and don't really need D in the AHL right now (or next season when other D prospects turn pro).
There's no reason for Montreal to move Pezz or Kovacevic right now, and a late 3rd, a RD that would be on the 3rd pair in Laval and Gregor isn't going to convince them.

Hawks don't need more bottom 6 players. They're overloaded with those already. They need to fill out their forward group with a couple of offensive style players.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sensonfire</b></div><div>What are you expecting to get for Allen and Monahan ?</div></div>
Monahan is a 1st + 3rd ish (somewhere around Lehkonen, Toffoli and Chiarot got us. Allen I think with retention and given the right (desperate) team maybe tops out at a 2nd + prospect (B or C level)

Deadline
-There's almost zero point to the first trade for Montreal. Two years retention using the last retention spot, and lose a veteran leader RD to move up 30 spots? Pass.
-Montreal has two centers done for the year, they need someone they can stick at C. I don't think the Rangers do that trade either
-Montreal probably isn't eating Campbell's contract and they likely aren't a team that would value Broberg that highly. Edmonton probably considers just buying Campbell out at that cost too.

Taylor Hall for instance.</div></div>
you don't think COL, WPG, STL, NSH, VGK, EDM, SEA couldn't all use a 3c? Odd... and that's just out west

24 Deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JeffW</b></div><div>How many teams are looking for a 2C that will be in it at the deadline, we know that Boston, Vancouver and Colorado are definitely looking...
There is lindholm, henrique, Jenner, monahan, johansen, and frost on the market for sure.. then you have guys like hertl, zegras, giroux, roslovic, konecney, and others who are less talked about but possible trade candidates.
Doesn't sound like at this point that there will be a frenzy for monahan... that could change but he's a terrible fit for this colorado team</div></div>
How many of those have a cap hit less than $1M?
Monahan is an option for every team. The rest are only options for maybe a couple of teams.
Teams can make additional moves to fit more cap, but there will be extra costs attached.
Monahan doesn't require a lot of hoops. Send a pick, get the player, swap him in.
