Shoring up the D-Core
Guhle is probably at the top of MTL's untouchable list on defence. It would take a significant offer and this isn't it.

Matheson can be traded to 23 teams, he only has an 8 team no trade list.

New Kings Lines

I picked Montreal as a placeholder, but it really could be any team.</div></div>
What are you talking about. Struble is already a better defender then Englund. He also have a physical edge with already 35 hit in 21 games despite having very little ice time in the first 7 games. Englund have 15 takeways in 116 games, he is a defensive liability. Kings tend to start him in offensive zone more often because they can’t trust him. Struble get tougher opposition and still managed to generate more offense. He is faster and process the game a lot quicker. And he is 22 you clearly haven’t watch him played. Englund already hits is ceiling. Struble will only get better and better. Struble is exactly what the King need on defense. They have Spence and Clarke, adding a strong physical defender is just logic.

A radioman saying he wouldn't be surprised if a player was traded is not even close to be a rumour, nor a prediction or even an opinion. It's merely a feeling.
Toronto fans will cling to anything to manifest their love for Xhekaj and Anderson's grit.

1st and 3rd to take campbell, 2nd for veg, broberg for 50% for couple of years. only way AZ does is if they given up on veg (I dont think they have) and feel campbell can be decent enough backup.

i think hes a top 32 goalie in the league right now. therefore shouldnt he be ''a starter'' more than a back up?

The team doesn't produce at all at 5v5 the last 16 games... and has been paired with a mix of Pearson and Gallagher, and most recently with Josh <em>"the offensive blackhole"</em> Anderson.
Any time he is paired with capable players... he performs well.

Detroit Red Wings signed Patrick Kane (1 Year / $2,750,000 AAV)
Absolutely brilliant signing. Basically no risk, medium to high reward. If he plays well it'll be a steal for that cap hit. If he plays poorly they can keep him healthy scratch if need be. Most likely, given how they've built the lines recently, the lines will look something like:
Veleno/Fabbri - Larkin - Raymond
Kane - Compher - DeBrincat
Fabbri/Veleno - Copp - Perron
Fischer - Rasmussen - Sprong
Compher is better suited to play a more defensive role than Larkin (I could see an argument made for Copp centering the line well for this reason) but he has also proven to be able to produce quite well when given opportunities thus far. If they do this, any negative fallout would not harm the 1st line that has been working great thus far. Besides, as stated above, you can bench players if they do not perform. You didn't need to move players or picks to make this happen, the deal cannot linger for longer than the season so I think this is an absolute win for Red Wings. Sure, Yzerman can look a bit silly if Kane cannot perform but other than that? Not many real downsides.

I'm surprised how many 'no' votes there are. I know he's had injuries, but it's a 1 year deal, and Detroit still has quite a bit of cap space to potentially add another big name rental at the deadline. And even though he didn't have a very good year by his standards last year, he was coming off of 4 consecutive seasons where he had over a point per game, and he was still on pace for 60+ points last year. If he's healthy he's easily a top-6 forward, probably a top-line forward.
And hey, if it doesn't work out, it's only 1 year.

If he torpedo's that entire line don't play him there.....seems easy enough. They could literally healthy scratch him for the rest of season if he plays THAT bad.

I voted Yes because it's practically a free signing . . . even if it doesn't pan out, the risk is minimal and that doesn't make it a BAD signing.

What is the risk? They have the cap space why not throw it at something... it's a one year deal, if it doesn't work out they can just move on in the off season. They could probably even get an asset for him at the TDL if things really go south.

You are the delusional one, Campbell is the very definition of a cap dump, he was waived and no one claimed him means no one wanted to trade for him. The cost to swap Allen with Campbell is a 1st and Bourgault. If you think the Habs are trading Monahan and Pearson (retained) for a 3rd and McLeod, you need serious help.
