NHL Trade Rumors made another dumb trade again

Created by: Shylo_Moxii
Team: 2023-24 St. Louis Blues
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 6, 2024
Published: Jan. 6, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I am going to be the first Blues fan to say from the Canadiens point of view this is Laughable. Doesnt even get Canadiens into a Stanley Cup contender spot why would you trade a Generational Defenseman for THAT. If I’m Blues I’m taking it in a heartbeat but that goes to show it’s never going to happen.

I’m not sure I’d call Lane Hutson generational.

Don’t think I’d go as far as calling Hutson a generational talent, he has the potential to be elite but that is yet to be seen. Regardless if Montreal were trading this package they’d need to be getting a true gamebreaker in return and Buchnevich ain’t it. I do like Neighbours though but not enough to justify this…

Technically breaking a 35 year old scoring record is beyond a generational achievement.
The way generational is used for NHL prospects however, no.
You have to be a hyped up 1st overall lock that only comes around once every several drafts.
McDavid was the last before Bedard, an 8 year gap.

Lane is doing Caufield things in the NCAA, not generational level things yet but still when you are outscoring guys like Makar, Hughes, Hughes and Leach at the same level, that's gonna turn heads

Do the blues even take this? I mean Hutson is awesome but Anderson is an anchor and Mesar is nice but not needle moving

Wasn’t meant to discredit him. But in terms of generational you’re talking McDavid and Crosby.

Generational in the realm of Defenseman. He’s going to be another Makar Fox McAvoy Pietrangelo whatever you want to name him off he’s doing better than Makar did in the NCAA. So for that reason that’s why I call Hutson generational.

He’s breaking. 35 year old record bud for a Defenseman that’s generational in that realm of hockey players. Forwards sure not but if you think he’s just another scrub you gotta stop looking at only Blues players man and only from the Blues point of view. You do it wayyyyyy to often.

The problem I have with that statement is I’d call Makar generational and he’s within that realm of possibilities. I’m not calling him McDavid he’s a defenseman. So he’s a generational defenseman. That’s not exactly the same thing as being Crosby or McDavid generational.

You did see what Perunovich did in the NCAA right?

I’m just not sure I’d give a guy a generational tag at this stage of development. He is on a really good track though.

What are you talking about? Where did I so much as imply he's a scrub? That's a polar opposite straw man, dude. And we all know he ain't a generational Dman because college hockey whatever. Good grief. Don't try imaginary personal insults against me for stating the glaringly obvious, just like several other people here did, including Hans fans.

This whole thing where people invent a make believe image of me to deflect because they made a silly comment is tired.

Only one of those Dmen is generational, dude. Being an all star doesn't equal generational. Gretzky was generational. Lemieux. Orr. McDavid. A once in a generation player.

He has better numbers than Makar and Fox did. He outproduced Brian Leetch. Dominated at every level. Hes gonna be a top 5 d man in the league in 5 years

Perunovich has injury history. That’s the big difference. He was also not NHL ready at 20 like Hutson is there is a huge difference. I’m not sure how you can compare Perunovich to Hutson and say that’s accurate assessment.

They are Franchise Cornerstone pieces. You might have a different definition of Generational where you can only compare it to Forwards but with this yes. I will say he’s very much in that realm of players. But agree to disagree. You’ve always been the stubborn type so I’m not gonna make an entire argument out of it.

Perunovich didn’t have an injury history until he was in pro hockey. He won the Hobey Baker in college as an amateur. That’s what I’m comparing.

See, there's another wild misrepresentation of what I said. It's not even remotely implied, either. It doesn't mean no generational player can ever come out of college. It means doing a bunch of great stuff in college does not necessarily translate to the NHL level. History is littered with evidence of this. Him scoring a bunch of points in college does not mean he will replicate it in the pros. At his size, it's a damn good bet he won't. He didn't even replicate that rate at the WJC, and that has the big rink.

Even if you want to say generational means franchise, that seems like a huge stretch. He ain't THAT good.

Also, accusing me of being stubborn while you're also being stubborn is just funny. Stick to the debate instead of trying to psychoanalyze me.
