Probably a little light on the MTL trade, but I wouldn’t want to pay much more than that

Too much to give up for MacEwen

Damn I just checked. When were habs fans planning on telling everyone how dog**** monahan has been the last month?

sub 40% xGoals rate 5v5, just 2 even strength points in his last 16 games. Yikes

The team doesn't produce at all at 5v5 the last 16 games... and has been paired with a mix of Pearson and Gallagher, and most recently with Josh "the offensive blackhole" Anderson.

Any time he is paired with capable players... he performs well.

Great that doesn't explain why out of the 270 forwards with at least 200 minutes 5v5, just 8 of them have worse xGoals%

5 members of the sharks, anderson, perron, and cooley.

He's been horrific.

Real puck knowers weren't moved by him getting 5 minutes a night standing in front of the opponents net on the power play

Meh, I guess we will see at TD- right now it's hard to get a good eval on these players the way they are playing...

Perhaps Haula doesn’t deserve that even if New Jersey lost their 2 first C

Monahan isn't even a good PP guy, but kudos for being the netfront guy on a 18% powerplay

And New Jersey prefered to put a W at C and the 4c at 2c before letting him play in the top 6. That says a lot

The devils PP is clicking at 38%
The canadiens at 18%.

Monahan existing on a bad PP doesn't give him more value than Haula not being on the best PP

New Jersey losted their 2 best players and he still can’t produce on the pp. That is a good sign

Haula has 3 power play points in 21 power play minutes with PP 2 (meaning they get on midplay, generally needing to break in)
Monahan has 6 power play points in 85 minutes with PP1 (his shifts start in the offensive zone)

I'll take haula on my power play.

Haula more productive with a man up, 5v5, in the dot, and on the PK.

11 primary points for haula too. Just 9 for monahan.
