I guess it really depends on where the 2024 pick is. Those picks don't come with any guarantees, not even in terms of location in the round. There has to be something of higher, more certain quality thrown in rather than more picks, hence Reinbacher, Slaf, etc.
This is all assuming the Canucks trade Petey, which seems more and more unlikely. If their success continues, he will very likely resign. If they do trade him, this team is built to win now and the Canucks probably try to pull off a Tkachuk-type trade where they get legit, win-now pieces back.

If Monahan is “healty” by TDL time, he’s probably be a better fit on another team. Nashville has enough middle-6 centers.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TMLBRIAN</b></div><div>Ylonen has very little trade value. Struble doesn't have a ton either.
Rangers easily pass.
A few days ago I proposed. 2025 1st (top 10 protected) worse of the 2 picks, 2nd round in 2024, Ylonen and Jake Evans for Laffy.
it got mixed reviews. Helps with the Rangers forward depth and gives them 2 picks.
The package I listed was quite a bit more than you offered here.
Another package I saw was Barron, Ylonen, 1st (2025) and 3rd.
All to say your package is light.</div></div>
The whole Laf thing, let's be honest, is tricky.
He's such in a pivotal year.
He has the exact same trajectory - freakishly similar - as Yakupov.
He could also start to breakout this season, exactly like Kakko did last season.
So it looks like we will see, this season, WHO Laf is exactly.
Hence, his value is very much in flux at this precise time.
My opinion.
NOTE: shout out to TMLBRIAN. Leafs fan, who also comments on Habs threads, but always respectfully, no bitterness, and fairness. I always strive to do the same. And I appreciate when dialogue is courteous.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>amigos71</b></div><div>thanks for your feedback, i just added a first. i does seem like a lot to me though... do other fanbase agree that two okay pieces + a first + a second is good value?</div></div>
Laffy has a lot of mixed reviews. He was a 1st overall pick, has performed well for a 20 year old. But has not performed well for a 1st overall pick.
My assumption is that his value starts at what Newhook got (late first and early 2nd but that was on the draft floor) and add from there. hence why I think my proposal is fair. Evans and Ylonen don't have a ton of value but do have some. That 2024 2nd will more than likely be later. That 2025 1st will probably be a bit earlier.

Terry is fine, Strome can't seem to remember how to play wing, we're not sure what to do with him.
Lundestrom has also shown he has the talent to play 2C, his stats were horrible because he was the only guy getting the puck out of our zone this season. And we also still have McTavish who is a top 6C as well, and Gaucher in the pipeline. As I said, we already have too many Centers, we don't need another one.

Change Norlinder to emgstrom and kidney to mesar. Jets don't need lhd but a young one who could be a 5/6 guy in engstrom being 19 is okay. Jets also need some right shot guys and since mesar and kidney are about on the same level should be fine.
Florida 1st, mesar, emgstrom and either Hoffman or Dvorak is my best guess

This is realistic. I doubt youd need to retain on Hoffman and tbh it would be best for MTL to just bury him imo. Also Gurianov is more likely to get a 1 year deal imo.

Based on how I project them: Dach (on a bridge deal) Slaf (on his current trajectory), Fantilli, Hutson, Guhle, Reinbacker, at least one of Roy/Beck.

Coach Houle couldnt win with those lines.
Richard-Abbadonato = Pacioretty- Desharnais 2.0 (in comparison to their AHL use and NHL use together not combined productions .)
Condotta - Teasdale = Matt Martin and Cal Clutterbuck 2.0 with higher Goal Scoring upside.(Condotta unlike his Cousin Martin is a pest who can finish fights not a Goon /Grit guy who starts them)
Davidson is ready to play AHL Center but Mysak needs to pack on muscle and adjust to the speed of small NHL style ice .
Davidson needs to also pack on Muscle but plays a gritty 200ft game required for a top Center in the WHL to succeed in todays game.
His biggest issue is skating so having him Center Condotta and Teasdale two mature team leaders who he can relate to .(plus both are excellent skaters)
Pitlick i dont think will start in the AHL and your Centers will all move up a position with Davidson moving to Center.
Most likely with Dube, Stephens or Mysak supporting him from wing.
Houle's ECF run it was 1st and 4th line leading the way at both ends like MTL in the SCF run its structured that way.
Middle 6 is checking and shutdown units who mostly break in the new guys trying to crack bottom or top 6.
Which makes sense as there's really only a 2 shift reward to playing 1st over the other 3 lines as Coach Houle employs a 4 like system that relies on all 6 D.
He's doing good as our Coach too and given his father is the most hated man in MTL Canadiens history the fans were looking for an excuse to call for his head.
I mean if this was a ranking of our depth then sure , its pretty accurate.
But Houle would never skate those line

Last word on Hockey had him at 16th
Mackenzie had him at 9th
So yeah, depends what list you look at. Either way I highly doubt Michkov falls past 4. Players with that much talent just dont drop. Worst case a rebuilding team drafts him then brings him over in a few years when all of the political stuff blows over. Not like having him join the team early helps that rebuilding teams tank

I just think goalies are inconsistent pieces of the puzzle that can be brought in cheaper and by other means. Rather take a chance on drafting one or signing one as a FA. Giving up this much in assets hasn't been done in years for a good reason

I understand the intrigue and benefits to Josh Anderson when he’s Healthy and on Top of His Game, but he reminds me of Lucic 2.0. Lucic’s play fell off dramatically at 28, likely as a result of their Physical Play Style. I mean Anderson already has trouble staying healthy as it is and a 0.40PPG guy just isn’t worth Top Assets or deserve Top-6 Pay

Guhle or Xhekaj with Barron, depending on whether Barron seems ready for 2nd or 3rd pair. Xhekaj makes more sense as he's already being sheltered and Guhle seems ready for top 4 at least.
Kovacevic has been playing well enough for a spot as well, which means one of Xhekaj or Harris being the 7th D on any given night.</div></div>
