He's a decent prospect that needed to adjust to the American ice last year. Had a decent showing at the WJC and is likely a mid-6 guy at best.

Colorado fans overvalue Kaut like most Ranger fans overvalue Kreider.
Similar to the hayes deal, the rangers will get a 1st plus a decent prospect/young player.
Kaut has more potential than Lemieux, so it'll probably be more like this.
Kreider for Kaut+2nd that turns into a 1st if kreider resigns.
Kaut isn't in the upper echelon of prospects, he is good don't get me wrong, but to put it in perspective, he's been outperformed by Lias Andersson at every level (I'm comparing their stats from equivalent years as Lias is a year older, i'm going a year back on Lias) who many NYR fans are labeling as a bust.

rangers cap dump for cap dump
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ashaw9377</b></div><div>I think this deal and Parnarin are not related at all. You could still make this deal, sign your RFA's and sign Parnarin if you wanted to. Maybe the amount retained for Smith changes and/or draft compensation changes but this trade doesn't have to happen after the buyout period is over.
What would you retain on Smith and/or what compensation would you want to make this trade work?</div></div>
Honestly if the Rangers felt they were out on Panarin, i would trade Smith for Marleau straight up no retention, and buy him out same day.

rangers cap dump for cap dump
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ashaw9377</b></div><div>This move still gives the Rangers enough flexibility to get all their RFA's signed. That would put them to the cap but they could also move guys like Namestnikov, Vesey, Kreider, Shattenkirk with retention (if Pionk and Braun were traded there has to be someone willing to take Shatty at 3.3M) to create more cap room if needed.</div></div>
Yea, Rangers taking on any unnecessary cap this depends on what the direction the team. is taking this year. If it a year where they don't go all in on UFAs like Panarin, then it might be deal. But if the Rangers are in sell mode...maybe TDL deals for their UFAs , then the Rangers are flush with cap in summer of 2020.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>shmoeman</b></div><div>Kreider isnt as good as either (at the time they were traded)
Turris was coming off of a solid season and was big reason why OTT made a great run in the playoffs (and had a very good start to the season after with 9 points in 11 games)
At the time Girard was a solid prospect but was a 2nd round pick with a couple NHL games so his value wasnt too high at the time, if we're comparing values to the times they were traded Yamamoto>Girard
Kamanev is another B level prospect
Girard+Kamanev+2nd is basically 3 2nd rounders
Paccioretty is just a better version of Kredier, 5 time 30+ goal scorer
Tatar was coming off of an AWFUL season, he played just 8 games in the playoffs and had 34 points all season, he held minimal value at the time, especially locked up for a few seasons at 5.3+
Suzuki is very good
2nd is a 2nd</div></div>
I dont know why Im in this with you because you think Kreider is worth JT Miller, Sergachev and a 2nd so obviously you have no clue how to fairly judge a players value

I dont think Andersson or Howden would should be moved to the wing and I'd rather trade one than have them get 10 minutes a night. Trouba would solve the issue of a top pair RHD and hes young enough that trading a young asset is a problem to me. That's just my opinion but I would also be fine if they kept Lias</div></div>
I feel the same way you do, but I was speaking in terms of reality, which is that Andersson won’t be traded.

Ya 100%. If an extension was in place this is the kind of trade the oil need to make. Their D is fine when healthy the real problem is they’re so thin at the forward position.
