Absolutely no to the trade. The pens can get at least a 2nd for Maatta. Just cause he is a pens fans whipping boy doesn’t mean he lost his value. He is still a solid top 4 dman

Phil and Horny are hurting not helping
none of these trades are any good for either team.
FIrst of all NJ isn't trading Hall for that, but even if they did.
What would the penguins do with Hall other than watch him walk when they can't pay him?
Meanwhile you gave up Hållander who will be a roster player for years to come (most likely middle six), a 1st round pick and Horny who's been playing with a broken bone in his hand for a one year rental.
You trade out Gudbranson who has been lights out and can help clean up the goonery for nothing.
Then you trade kessel for an inferior winger, a 5'9 midget defense man, and a guy who hasn't shown much at the NHL level.
Even if said players had to go, which there really isn't over whelming evidence that it is even true, surely this is not how it's done.

WE DONT WANT LUCIC but maybe we can help
Edmonton would propose the first trade and say "suuuuuuuuuuuuure, we'll take back Lucic at half retained if you take him from us." They'd file the paperwork to make Lucic a Senator, then Keith Gretzky would block Dorion's phone number. "Hehehe, sucker."

This looks like cap circumvention to me, I think the league would step in and stop this.

If you want to see a bunch of over rated players... I invite you to scan the Flyers roster. Flyers fans have a tendency to consider Giroux one of the best, if not the best, players in the world. He'd be 3rd line in Pittsburgh, 3rd line in Washington... just as an example. However, as a Flyers fan, you saying that someone is overrating their players... you would be an expert in spotting that (as a Flyers fan, not necessarily YOU specifically).

Malkin and Kessel for Konecny, Voracek and a 1st?
Rutherford counters with Malkin, Kessel and Johnson for Giroux at 50%, Voracek at 50%, Konecny, Provorov, Sanheim and 3 unprotected 1sts.

potential offseason with moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>zdiamond1919</b></div><div>27 tucks last year is close enough especially at 25 yrs old, Stone has never hit 30 either but yet Ottawa got a A+ prospect defender and a 2nd round pick while Vegas paid him 9.5 mil per season... So trading an aging Kessel (7 mil cap hit) a low level prospect and a late 1st rounder seems more than fair on the Pittsburgh end for a guy that makes less than 6 mil per for the next 4 years, but I get it keep over valuing Kessel that works...</div></div>
Kessel maybe an aging player but a 31 year old kessel is still a better player than a 25 year old Huberdeau. Giving up a prospect and a pick on top of it is losing the trade.
If I'm going to ship Kessel out somewhere it's to a team on the cusp of making a push or one that is already making one. That way I get a better return and don't have to pretend I have to add to a trade while giving up the best player in the trade.

Pens will need to trade kessel at the right moment, when they know he has peaked... JJ is not that hard to trade out. Can we just stop with that myth.

not one of these trades are good for the penguins.
The only one that even looks reasonable is the Blues trade. But Kyrou looks like a bust at this point in his career.

Could Mark Stones contract be used to keep Marners contract low
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>How is that possible? The difference is top tax paid on personal tax is 16%. You somehow make it 20 to 30 %. Of course in the US tax is calculated WHERE you earned you money, not so in Canada.
Plus players (entertainers) do not pay personal tax rate on their total income in Canada It's really false narrative these personal tax rates.</div></div>
Using 10 mil:
Vegas: 6.335 mil
Toronto: 4.685 mil
That is ~1.65 mil difference. To equal Stone Marner would have to get 11.1 mil.
Using cap friendly tax calculator.

Geno x Bread
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>EGM</b></div><div>How is Gallagher not better than Kessel? Gallagher same goal scoring, same 5v5 points, Gallagher is a top 5 defensive RW in league, Gallagher is half the cost, Gallagher 5 years younger, all while being on a average team with average linemates, Gallagher x Crosby or Malkin is unquestionably better than Kessel x Crosby or Malkin. You really arguing over the 6th/7th/8th dman on the team? keep Gudbranson then, have the cap space to do so. JJ has not being amazing, hes just being slightly better than his previously trash self, still horrendous. If Pittsburgh had the cap space instead of having none, I bet panarin would consider any offer of $12m.</div></div>
Because Gallagher’s career high is 54 points. Kessel is a point per game player this year and that’s with you claiming he is on the decline and been trash. Do you have a crystal ball to know that would be true? I’ll stick with what is certain and that is Kessel is at worst a PPG player with Crosby and Malkin. Especially if it means I’m gonna get a trash return on Kessel. You are the one arguing over a 6th/7th/8th dman trying to claim he is better than Gudbranson. Yes JJ has been pretty amazing with Schultz. Clearly you don’t watch the games ?♂️. Panarin already said there is only a few teams that he is willing to go to, period. You can’t change facts lol. Pittsburgh isn’t one of those teams.

No, no they aren’t. Kessel >> Gallagher, Hornqvist >> Bjugstad, Bjugstad = Cirelli, Gudbranson >>>> Ruhwedel. Callahan’s contract is literally cancer. It’s worse than JJ and if it takes that much to get rid of JJ, it’s gonna take multiple 1sts to get rid of that Callahan contract.
