Tavares signed, Monahan traded
Personally if it's fantasy world we let backlund walk, no need to trade monahan, if we have JT and moneyhands as 1/2 C who cares who plays wing...
Although I want Anderson on this team, rather see us move other assets if we can to get him. Him and ferland together would be a nightmare

Depth and experience for the playoffs
The NYR and Vegas deals I would get behind especially if Perron would sign here long term, but we have to move Brouwer some how... the dream of no Brouwer....
As for the MTL deal no way in heck do we even think about that fox and Dube are borderline bluechip prospects, we shouldn't move those guys for a 3rd liner on another Brouwer like deal.....
Good work on your trades :)

Nylander
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Zeerak</b></div><div>**** no. This is horrible value. We give up a top end defensive prospect and one of our top 4 defensemen. The market is Taylor Hall, a point per game player, for Adam Larsson, a fringe 2nd pair dman. Brodie for Nylander is more than fair by that assessment, but adding Phillips and Fox is a huge no.</div></div>
Hey thank you man for agreeing, I don't want to get ridiculed by TOR fans, who think nylander will get them a top end D...
but hall for Larson, drouin for sergachev (unknown at the time) put me down for brodie for nylander as a deal to work around....
I still think due to age you'd have to add to brodie a bit to offset the age. I think brodie+Phillips/mang for nylander would be fair.... 22 v 28 is still a gap that needs to be bridged a bit in my opinion. The other 2 deals that have been referenced were almost the same age....
Once again happy to see someone who sees value of D vs a winger... I agree fox and brodie is too rich..... fox looks like the real deal, I DO NOT want to move him, unless he doesn't want to sign.....

Nylander
I would do this as a flames fan, I don't see TOR fans supporting this, but the value isn't far off at all. And I might get ridiculed for saying this but Fox and brodie might be fair.... brodie eats top pairing minutes, but makes his mistakes. Fox looks like he could be the real deal too, which would give tor an entire pairing.... No matter how you cut it Defence is more valuable than forwards
Nylander is highly talented and worth giving up assets to get. Brodie is controllable and on a team friendly deal. I could see this working, but again I'm going to get it from the TOR side.
Nylander for Hamilton is not fair value... as the other poster said RFAs with lots of skill don't fall from the sky, but there is more of them then 6'5 RH controllable top pairing D. I can think of Seth Jones and that's about it..... just my 2 cents

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rbcf</b></div><div>Yeah I overpaid for Nash as I think he would be great 4th line center but might be better to wait for Dube. Hornquist makes me nervous too and probably won't happen as your right he might not have alot in the tank. I would rather somehow get Brady Tkachuk but that seems like a pipe dream.</div></div>
Brady would be wicked but he is an unknown quantity at this point in time, yes all signs point he should be a NHL player, but for the cost it's too risky. Having said that IF Matthew Tkachuk is the future captain of this team, I wouldn't rule out Brady coming here at some point or another.... still I think I'm dreaming there.....
I like Nash, but let's wait for Dube or give someone like Hrivik the chance to run with it a bit. I would like to see us pursue someone whose on an expiring RFA deal that's controllable and shoots right, for example Ryan Hartman.

Sharp/Sceviour
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JQuick32</b></div><div>If the Flames make the playoffs they will most likely play the Sharks or my Kings. Both teams have a ton of playoff experience. I think the Flames need to add some playoff experience and it was well known Sharp almost signed on July 1 with the Flames, I wonder if the interest still exists.
Given the choice between Sharp or Sceviour I take the latter as he is younger and produces more than Stajan. While Stajan is a good PK guy, a little more 4th line production will go a long way.
Regarding depth on the left side, the Flames still have Kylington who may not be as well developed as Wotherspoon, but has a higher upside. Also by playoff time Tri-City should be eliminated and Valimaki could in theory be called up.</div></div>
Totally agree with your point in the playoff experience, would be good to add that piece, but with our current roster we have seen the playoffs a bit, smith is a great guy addition with his role with Az going to conf finals, browuwer, frolik, versteeg all will be in come playoff time. I think Sceviour would be a good fit as we have discussed....
In regards to Valimaki, love the idea, but I don't think he is ready for that personally and might not be best for his development curve...Bennett/baertschi.... f Kylington has to play that's not a problem, but if we move on Tspoon, I just feel we could use a physical 7 guy in the event we lose stone/harmonic as well. Andersson and Kylington aren't bringing that element and as you said we have to deal with California, they all are big and heavy teams thus the need for an addition physical presence to break up the cycle... we all the know the playoffs is a big boy game...
Ideally you'd like to have a glut of solid D going into the playoffs for a big run cause you'll probably need them all.... Gio, Hamilton, brodie, harmonic, stone, Kulak, bartkowski, Andersson, Kylington,Prout... decent depth, but R shot heavy.... (assuming we part with wotherspoon).... Bart is scary in his own end I would avoid playing him as much as possible lol, he is a rim specialist

Sharp/Sceviour
I'd probably only do one or the other, I like the thought of adding to R shots, but I think Lazar is finally getting some footing in the league and looks like he may turn that corner. Ultimately with his motor constantly going and the fact he is starting to make plays, rather than just making the simple play, so he doesn't get sat.
Personally rather see us spend that asset to upgrade bartkowski with a more consistent d that can play in place for Kulak, as if we have an injury to our L side we could be in trouble especially if Tspoon is moved on. I still would like to add Jake McCabe as I think he makes stone expendable and adds a physical element we could use on that L side.

Why would the flames take on dions contract, I don't think Colin White would make it worth it. Calgary says no. Could see brodie being moved but it will be a for a scoring forward... I think something like Vatenan/Henrique deal is more likely.... At the draft though you never know...

Deadline deals
The stone/Nelson swap is perfect and i think that a great call. Nelson would fit well with benny/Janks. He is a shooter and that line needs that.
As for Nyqusit, that's rich to include Jankowski, who is just wetting his feet and is already a solid 3rd line C. Nyquist isn't an upgrade in our top 6, I pass on that deal hard and we would regret that deal right away. Just say no to trading a skilled 6'4 C 23 year old center. Also Bennett is not a C at this level his game is suited to the wing playing that bull dog game. By adding Nyquist your creating a hole at 3C, which is a hard one to fill.
Good thoughts though.... if we could add a top 9 winger or 6/7 depth d at the deadline would be wise. The other guy I would like to see if we can pluck is Ryan Hartman.

Like the idea of moving Brodie for a winger, got to wonder what the price tag would be to snag Tyler Toffoli out of LA... Man he would look good on the Flames!
Just stay away from Ceci, Id rather go rescue Jake McCabe out of Buffalo to replace brodie and/or give Wotherspoon/Kylington a good look.

I just don't see why we would pay Riley Nash 3 million dollars to be our 4th line centre? Also I think Hornqvist would be great if he didn't have so many miles on his odometer, that would have every chance to be another Troy Brouwer contract, don't think it would be wise to bring in an older winger for 5 million bucks....
I think this team is set up pretty good right now and we need that 8 million for Bennett, Tkachuk, Ferland as the per the other poster ^, if we could add a guy like Ryan Hartman, Sam Reinhart, or Josh Anderson that compliment the roster thats an addition I'm on board with.
Cheers good thoughts though.

Kane Deals LAK/PIT/STL/SJS/ANA/CGY
There is no chance the Flames consider moving Ferland (Not to mention at 1.75 for another year) in a deal for Kane. Ferland has more goals than Kane currently and has done so over the last year, fits like a glove in Calgary with John and Sean..... let alone adding a 1st no chance...
Could see Dube+1st+Something but to ask for Ferland+a 1st+Dube is really insane......
Edit: Could also see Calgary making a deal for Reinhart before they pursue Kane, as I dont think we have the Cap to hold onto him long term, Tkachuk, Ferland, Jankowski, Bennett are going to cost us some coin.
Adding a guy like Kane who has such a larger personality would be a huge risk to the chemistry within our locker room.

Bjugstad could be really good on that line and he's in the right age range, and he has some term left</div></div>
Trochek would be the absolute best possible fit this team could get with contract, age and so on other than Mark Stone, but there is no way we have the assets, but if he was available then I would be okay with moving on from Bennett in that deal.
I would really like Calgary to look at: Hartman, Ho-Sang, Armia, Fischer, Reinhart, Tuch, Virtanen type player that we can afford to add as a piece to this top 9 that is young and would fit the make up going forward.
From a rental stand point if Vegas and thats a big IF were to trade Perron, I wouldn't be opposed to making that deal as he would be a pretty good fit......

FLA has expressed their disappointment about losing Smith and Marchessault to Vegas. However it was their own doing as they wanted to protect 4 D. Anyways it makes me wonder if they will be a little reluctant to trade another winger.
I'd love to add Bjugstad though</div></div>
Bjugstad would be one of my main targets if FLA is looking to shed some money or perhaps part ways with that longer term contract, I believe from what I have seen and heard he is a bit of Joe Colborne softness in him, but maybe just maybe if he's being dragged into it by Bennett/Janko could be a real steal of a player that can play up and down this lineup, could even allow the team to potentially absorb a Backlund loss.

It would be hard to do that deal with Bennett involved, we would lose any trade with Bennett involved unless its for a superstar in my opinion..... I wonder if they would be a deal to be made involving Dube over Bennett?
Maybe FLA would take a package of futures?
Edit: I would see if maybe Mangiapane would peak there interest a bit as a replacement piece? Bjugstad has a heck of a shot would fit will with this team. IF brad can add a RH one timer for the PP that would go a long way to this team taking that next step.

As a Flames fan I watch stone daily, he is elite at pinning guys to the boards, he's got a cannon of a shot, can make a decent first pass, is a good shot blocker. Where he has some flaws is his decision making can be off from time to time as well as his skating is not the greatest asset. He is pretty stable and steady, but will make the odd mistake or get beaten wide with speed. Overall a good 5/6 guy, that can play up in the top 4 for a bit of time.

The 2nd is a good addition, no doubt about it. I see what your kind thinking there of just parting ways with stone is almost viable with Andersson pushing hard.
