Yeah there's zero chance NSH trades their 2021 first round prospect center for rental Ben Chiarot

Fair trade Preds go for cup amp Oilers massive retool
Crazy as it seems given the amount of stuff going out, NSH probably accepts. Johansen's value likely won't ever be higher than his current ~70 point pace and McDavid is only $4.5M more in salary for a huge jump in production. Tomasino is a big loss but not such a sure thing that he's untouchable. Askarov has massive potential but NSH could re-up on Saros and be just fine with him and Skinner or Ingram. Picks can be re-gained through other trades over time.

Chiarot to Nashville
NSH just traded Ellis in part to get Myers. Highly doubt they'd flip him for a vet rental.
MTL is more than welcome to Harpur, hell he can be had for nothing. Davies, who is an NHL ready puck mover, and a 2nd for a rental? No thanks from NSH's perspective.

Detroit was really picked at random. ;) I was just finding a landing spot for Bonino/Jarnkrok to finish out the rest of the roster.

Calle Jarnkrok from Nashville. Can play center or wing. Kills penalties. Has some offensive pop. Cheap contract with term left.

That's tough for the Preds because that's a whole lot to give up but... I think I'd do that if there was an understanding on Hall's extension.

NSH PHI NYR looks real
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Nik_SH</b></div><div>1) If NSH want to sign Duchene, their best choice/option - trade PK. Right now, not many teams can have additional 9m contract. Plus NSH need free cap space for over moves(that's why i do not rly like PK-Vorachek trade).
Upgrade 24 to 10 pick - very good. Do not forget about Seattle. I would prefer trade him right now, than lose for nothing after 1 season.
And yes, ofc Hagg can't fully replace PK, but he shouldn't. He isn't bad defender, but most important thing-he is so cheap and more than 100% he will not be taken by Seattle.
2) NYR already have Trouba, do not think they want to add another RHD. Trade like here-trade, that upgrade 3rd line player to 2nd, no more. Jarnkrok good and i like him, but i would prefer have 50 ppg forward for 5,5m, than 25-30 ppg for 2m. Only because NSH have so many young talante, but they are have no chance to play in our bottom 6. So, save money at bottom lines and upgrade your TOP 6.</div></div>
I have no issue with the Kreider trade you proposed.
I just don't see NSH giving up PK plus two high picks to get a prospect and one higher pick back.

Why would NSH give up a first and a second along with PK for a worse defenseman and a slightly better 1st? That doesn't help them at all win a Cup while they're in the prime of the rest of their core players.
In this scenario they'd be better off just trading PK for Kreider, which would still be an overpay but at least gets the player they need without giving up more pieces.

Leddy and Turris threeway
That is a terrible trade for Nashville. Shaw is at best a 3rd liner and Ho-Sang (while I really like his offensive skill) hasn't been able to crack the Islanders with any consistency.
For that, you're saying the Preds should give up a 2nd line center (who will be better than an injured, down season) and their top forward prospect plus a pick? That is a gigantic overpay.

Honestly not much. The Preds have minimal players to re-sign and for not much money. Since its only one year there isn't significant upside to retained salary.

So the Preds reaching heights they've never seen before and PK was a Norris finalist means he didn't deliver? Come on man...
And personally I don't think the Preds trade PK and certainly not in any "spare parts/cap dump" trade that other fans love proposing.

DrouinJosi Swap
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>villenash</b></div><div>A number 1 defenseman and one of the top 10-15 defenseman in the NHL is more than "probably" better than Jonathan Drouin - who two teams now want to get rid of. He's a good player, but nowhere near as valuable to any team as Josi would be. I'd rather have Huberdeau (similar cap hit) or someone else if that's what you're looking at.</div></div>
Huberdeau isn't a bad alternative given the similarity in cap hit.
I went with Drouin cause he's younger, and the assumptive ability to get Fleury (23 pts in the AHL at age 20) and a 2nd back in the deal.

A better player today? Probably. But part of the angle is retaining enough cap space to both sign Duchene and keep Turris. Trading Josi for a better player likely carries a higher cap hit and Duchene goes bye bye.

Its one of those that looks lopsided up front, I agree. Preds are banking on Drouin reaching his potential, but at minimum being no worse than the 50+ point player he has been. Plus, that Josi $4M gets at least doubled with his next contract.

Having 4 elite defenseman hasn't got the job done for the Preds either so... time to try something different. Getting Drouin and clearing room for Duchene is a significant upgrade to the forward corps.

Not sure I'd call Josi "aging" just yet. He's still a full year from 30 and his production certainly has stayed at a high level.

No chance NSH makes that trade. DeMelo is decent player but not really a need nor does he move the needle.
Preds have no need for goalies. Peks is still good and Saros is already in place as the heir apparent.
