Offseason Eichel trade- made by leafs fan
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NYR1983</b></div><div>The thing is, NYR don’t need Eichel at this point. BUF seems desperate to move him and recoup more than his value. These 2 teams are a bad partners for this deal. We look to be the best because we can even fulfill crazy demand of 6 1st round prospects and 4 1st round picks but the “cost” is just unrealistic. Another team will have to come along and say they just want to sell jerseys with Eichel on the back and then suck for 5-10 years</div></div>
Eichel for Buch, Laf, Kakko, Chytil, Miller, Lundqvist, three firsts, your car keys, vacation home, life insurance, your cousins gold chain, a two month stay in the presidential suite at the Plaza, $725.47 in cash, and a year's worth of free bus tickets from buffalo to NY; OR NO DEAL.

I dunno man... both have been not so great. Kulikov to a lesser extent but 4 Mill plus on Murray, so far you're paying him a million a point. I think if you resign either its Kulikov, but there are going to be way better options for you guys this summer.

Why Not
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bhavikp27</b></div><div>Highly doubt. The Bruins don't want any long-term contracts.</div></div>
No arguments there, but two years is easily manageable. Playing in the Bruins system would inevitably raise his defensive game, and if he contributes the same as what he did in Philly or more you have a nice piece to move next deadline. Point is it couldn't realllllly hurt, you'd be adding a player that could desperately use a change of scenery to an already stacked roster but you are right; the money is concerning if it doesn't work out. Just thought it would be low risk high reward for the B's

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shakabakes</b></div><div>Strome enters a Contract year next Season. If your thought process is to "sell high", then you're basically stating to trade Strome by that Deadline and not resign him.
Which I guess makes you a Buch guy.</div></div>
You are correct!
But thats also because it took Strome playing with Panarin to find his game. Buchie was coached and progressed & been through the motions here; he has easily shown he's more consistent. At the end of the day.. Buch AND Strome could both be moved, depending on how Chytil/Krav/Kakko pan out.
At the moment though I'm picking Buch, every season his point production/corsi/TOI all go up steadily; Strome has peaks and troths. (which is also why I said sell high because I'm nervous for his next troth; especially if it comes after singing a 6mill x 5 year contract)

Also... why not just ride it out and sell high? Specifically on Strome? He's absolutely reached his potential and its probably not getting any higher. Rangers are in a great position to have a bidding war over a guy that was spare parts

Also Barkov is not happening (especially the way Florida is playing). Also Mika is probably getting Barkov's deal. Also Rangers will not be picking in the top five (prob where Hughes is going... even if he doesn't they probably won't pick higher than 10) (even though I would love to seeing a hudson river rivalry featuring brothers).

One for one
If I might.... Let me just paint a picture...
This kid, and I chose that word wisely 'kid', was drafted second overall. By the marquee franchise in the US (there is no debate. Holds highest team value. Generates most revenue. In the most populous city in the US, and biggest market in the US. Not to mention by a franchise that is foaming at the mouth for another shot at the post season, and also has a not so great reputation for asking the question "what have you done for me lately?"
The kid is just a kid. Imagine having that amount of pressure on your shoulders as a damn teenager. AND NOT ONLY THAT... another shiny new toy gets drafted 1st overall the year afterwards. I think while he's had a decent (at best) sample size in the NHL, there needs to be some extreme patience with him. With that being said if he continues this trajectory he's a prime candidate for a bridge deal or move.. but I think as the pressure is taken off of him (and alexis for that matter), you'll see a much different player. Lets not forget people are calling Laf a bust already lol
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Drw4209</b></div><div>Why would Florida do this, they're more than happy with Lundell and Kakko has been rushed and ruined by the rangers</div></div>

Agreed, on all. I was more so just looking for a compelling argument as to why he wouldn't be, which I argued in another thread lol
<strong>"I've said it time... and time again... Sabres want too much + Rangers giving up scraps = no deal.
It's going to take a tough to swallow pill for both Rangers and Sabres because NYR doesn't want to give up too much, and Buff doesn't want to whiff on a major trade. Its going to look something like Eichel and a b level prospect or low pick for 1) good roster player with salary 2) another good roster player with salary 3) the latter need to make up for Eichel point production 4) AT LEAST one bluechip prospect (say goodbye to Krav / Lundkivst / Jones / Henriksson / Schneider / Cuylle) 5) a first round pick (or two depending on quality of prospect)
At the end of the day I think both teams walk. Rangers believe they have too much potential talent going one way, Buff has a generational player & I don't think either team wants FOMO from what could have been.. nor do I think Buff wants to look any worse than they do now.. And to be honest I'd rather have the potential. Eichel and coach sexy can continue their relationship via text/facetime."</strong>
Rangers and Kings are gonna be the two that can pull it off if it happens; but I think Rangers are in the best position to make it happen. I don't think the Rangers do it because of what we've agreed on above, and i'd say for the same reason the Kings don't do it. Buf overvauling Eichel and teams placing higher value on prospects are the only reasons it wouldn't get done.

NYR Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OrganizedConfusion55</b></div><div>Don't worry. You're not getting eichel.</div></div>
Buffalo fans "Eichel is worth three first round picks, two players picked in the top five, two blue chip prospects, and a top six forward and a top four defensmen"
You guys are trying to trade him off potential that the team hasn't even tapped into yet. However, you have:
1)failed to put a team around him for five years
2)finished in the basement almost every year since drafting him
3)with that being said not had a winning record since drafting him
4)no idea what asset management is
He absolutely could be a perennial 100pt or more player, not with the Sabres. The funny thing with that though... you have to trade him somewhere to see, 'cause it ain't happening in Buffalo; and no one is giving that lot up on the "chance" that he's that good on their team. If anyone gets him, its Los Angeles or NYR. To be honest, NYR is better off with their future potential than they are trading it away for a high priced player. To take it a step further... Buffalo isn't in the drivers seat here. They're absolutely atrocious right now. Teams know Jack is frustrated, and again.. hasn't publicly said it but probably wants out. That combined with an unbelievably terrible season is only going to make his value drop; especially if other teams know that.
So.. Yes, someone is gonna get Eichel, and whether you want to believe it or not; NYR is in the best position. Just ask DQ ;)

You and the rest of Buff nation are delusional if you think that:
1) NYR is stupid enough to give up that lot
2) that one generational player holds the same value as 2 potential generational players and an elite prospect (NOT TO MENTION TWO PICKS THAT YOU WANT THAT COULD ALSO BE THE LATTER)
3) Buff is going to price their own way out of the game, continue asking for too much; and end up trading him for pennies on the dollar.
If anything... EVERY TEAM THAT CAN AFFORD HIM.. is at an advantage because Eichel wants out (although he hasn't publicly said it), Buff doesn't know how to handle the situation, on top of the fact that their front office is even worse of a mess than the New York Jets. (they've had five years to put a roster in front of one of the best players in the league and they've finished in the basement... almost every year since he's been drafted.. to take it a step further... they haven't had a winning record since then either). You'll end up getting two great prospects, a really good roster player and two firsts: and you'll have to take that one home to cry about. Whatever "dream scenario" you have in your head about getting two top three picks, two first round draft picks, a blue chip prospects and elite roster player isn't going to happen for...... one.... player... just be logical.
Yeah NYR will have to part with something tough to swallow but please lets stop this nonsense lol Ranger fans coming up with these "zib howden jones and a first" are just as bad as the buff fans coming up with these "laf kakko chytil zib 3 firsts and your mothers 5th unborn child" scenarios. End of the day, if Buff continues to ask for the moon; they're not going to be able to move him, jack will ask for a trade eventually and then you're getting pretty much nothing close to what NYR is offering OR what the organization wants.

Rakell is 100% better than strome. However.. I do applaud your confidence here, no joke.. I've been toying with a trade involving both of these players coming to NY for some time and just can't figure out the logistics, so cudos. It makes sense on paper but what we would need to give up to bring them to NY wouldn't make sense in the long run, especially with all those expiring ELC's coming up. If it happened.. it would probably have to be something along the lines of smith/buch/roster player (to make money work) two prospects (or one depending on quality) and a pick (or two depending on the latter). Overall I would love to see it happen I just don't think its as beneficial for us as it would be for Anaheim.
