When CHI traded him he was quoted saying "that's business baby". Panarin isn't giving any discounts to anyone. True, but if Nylander is unreasonable and you can get Panarin at 8.5 or 9, this means you knock down the Marner number. Mitch can argue that he is better than Willy, he is not better than Pararin. If Panarin is 8.5 or 9 immediately Marner is at 7. ThisCaps your wingers just like Tavares caps Matthew's I think financially it is quite smart. Mitch is better than Willy, not better than a top 10 player in the League.

Yes exactly, you keep the quality and send away the quantity. If one of those Rfas want more they can play in there American League this is the Pit Model. Pay your big boys and send away the replacement level players. If any of those winger want more they can play elsewhere, Moorr, Bracco, Marchemnt could ll fill a bottom 6 role for 700k. It's the way it works. The cap is easy when you have an entire AHL team of NHL ready players taht make no money!
That's why the Leafs are icing 2 different NHL teams for preseason. If Bracco can do a job, if Moore is Connor Brown trade 2.1m and replace it with 750k yiu create 1.4 in cap space and run the system again.
It works fellas, other GMs dont know how the Leafs can sign these guys. They have Pridum and Dubas for a reason, this is how you do it.

Yeah the leafs have 7 years of control. They could just not have him play hockey for the year and then do it again after the draft. That's why Trouba signed when he did, if he had the power to be UFA foster I think he would have already left the Peg.

Oh it's not that I dont think Washington is good, they are too 7 or 8 team for sure, I'm just talking about center depth I think the Caps overwhelmed Pit last year, this year with Crosby Malkin and dounce back Brassard, I just think they are better. All these years Wshington was great, least year Eller finally gave them that third center. I think the pens finally had an off season and they will come back with a vengeance. No disrespect to the Caps, but tie goes to the centers, in my opinion.

To all lol.
I agree St. Louis probably say no, but this is 2 1sts and a 2nd. Just so we are clear, an elite penalty killing top 6 winger and a future top 4 D man and also a 3nd round pick.
I actually think in 3 years the Leafs would regret this trade and for that reason this is your best offer. Nylander never marner never .
I think Parayko would be a great addition, but he is not worth more than that to this team which is loaded elsewhere.
I would call and make the case for this, if they wanted the 2nd yo br another first it would only be in you won the cup this or next year.
The Leafs are already an elite team with CP he would just elevate them further.
This is why I like the Leafs even in the Nylander negotiation, we are great, you make us better. They dont have to overpay like Edmonton for Adam Larsson, but if you made a good case, St. Louis may be willing to move their 2nd pairing Dman for a package of 3 good prospects.

Well they cant afford an 8 year deal. Maybe it is just one and they try and win the cup. I think they go for it this year and maybe next year trade him at the deadline. One year of control at 5.5 and then a trade for a similar asset make sense. I still think Tampa is a good destination, but when you sign a 31 year old to a 5 year deal I think you have to try and win for the next 2 years for sure. Or as long as they have control of Trouba.
Years of control is something I think we will hear more in hockey so that teams can have their window with players they dont have to overpay as UFA.
I really like the Wheeler deal they just have to be creative 5o still have good D.

Whoever the Matthews is in the 2020 draft that's who you go for.
Instead of being 9th again. I want to be as awful as possible next year. So you flip all the good players at the 2018 deadline, win as much until then.
If Avalanche dont get jack Hughes it's a good year
19-20 just be bad but sell it like the leafs with all the young prospects playing all over
Ala Vancouver (please Ottawa dont sign next years jay beagle. 1 year deals friends 1 years flipped deals)
Hopefully you get lucky and draft Alexis Lafreniere.
Ottawa and Montreal will be shining in 2020 with this pick so it will actually be battle tank nation. Which is why if Bobby Ryan and Mikal Boedkar keep you about the cap floor. Those are suddenly valuable in a way that they were lot before.
Spezza is miserable in Dallas I remember him lighting up the leafs in the mid 2000s, he would come back if you stack

PK Becomes (more of) A Star

Well my first point would be your arent trading for nothing. Jake would be a star in Nashville because he makes electric plays. As Steve Dangle says he does things no other guy can do. Then he turns the puck over and gets scored on, we in toronto watxh that 40 times and get mad instead of the slick passes he makes for plays (watch nylanders OT winner against Chicago)
But if you dont like Jake I think Ottawa can Help. Send EK to Nash for PK and a prospect
EK has 518 points in 627 games.
PK 377 in 582. Ek ials younger
We all love PK but just like Duchene is better than Turris as sad as that all turned out, Karlsson is better than Subban.
If you disagree I would like to know when Subban was a top 5 player in the world like EK was in 17 playoffs when Ottawa could have won the cup.

In your scenario that brown goes you have an extra 2m to explain away. You also gave away our draft steal liljegren.
Trade makes no sense for Nashville. After all that the last thing the leafs need is another offensive Dman. This trade fails on every level. I’ll keep liljegren and keep building the team into the future. This whole Brian Burke sell the future for the right now doesn’t work.</div></div>
Kap is on the sens ?
Gardnier and Kap for Subban, then they can flip Jake to a team who needs a lefty.
Watxh out of might happen. The Duchene trade but with 1 more team!
No need to switch Timmy if you give up Jake because he is worth a pick and prospect from another team
Nash gets EK and gets batter
Leafs get PK and get better
Someone gets Jake at the deadline a d makes a run
Look at Jake's stats compared to shattenkirk. He is a better player. Ottawa helps 3 teams and looks to get tolvanen, Kapanen and maybe a first.
Then you trade Jake for a first and a pick.
Suddenly you have a line of prospects and 2 firsts.
Is that a fair trade for a top 5 player in the league.
Imagine San Anotonio switch DeMar for picks and prospects.
J think when stars get traded you need more than 1 team
Colorado got Girard from Nashville and the picks from Ottawa. More teams more returns.
I cant predict who every trade will be with. But we know the pieces Ottawa needs to move.

Throwing this back up...
I thoroughly enjoy your criticism on my teams where I can put a subban on leafs hardly subtracting. However your solution is an injury prone old player who is the younger version of Polak 390 games 68 points.
Only 164 games played in last 3 years.
Brown is younger cheaper on a longer deal who loves Toronto and took less.
Last 2 years 164 gp 64 points in those 2 years 4 less than injured Tanevs career.
Oh and in 7 games the year before he had 6 points. Si 70 career. I think I would rather have brown as a hybrid winger than Tanev.
You are also giving a first and Carrick. That seems like 3 roster spots for a guy who will be hurt.
The next time you leave a comment please leave sufficient evidence of your position because for you to think the team you created is better than mine you are incorrect and if you are saying yours is more realistic than you may have forgotten the Leafs signed John Tavares.
Tanev is the Lee Stephniak of trades why do something taht doenst significantly improve our team.
If it doenst move the needle no need.
Tanev does not ensure a cup and you are giving away Carrick a 20 goal scorer in brown and a first round pick. Not even close.

Only is sens retain, let's make taht clear. You have a player in that spot who can bridge for Tim. And its only a 4 year deal if Sens make it a 5. In 4 year when Timmy wants 3.5 PK might take 8 while Morgan takes 8 5.
Pk can work with Nikita and Liljegren where suddenly a weakness is now a strength.

? I just hope something exciting happens.
It's not every year a top 3 player in the world is just dangled from team to team.
Look how nuts the NBA, a league where players move all the time, a top 5 player was moved.
That literally never happens.
If you are the Preds you have got to the final and never had a top 5 player in the world. Pit had 2 you had 0. Cavs had Lebron the Raps weren't close.
If Nashvilles almost immaculate team of stars everywhere could add peak EK, if they played the pens again they would win.
Remember when it took the pens 6 games against 1C Calle Jarnkrok.
Remember when 2 years ago Ottawa was in game 7 because ok EK. They are out in round without EK.
Karlsson Turris get to play with Johanson Josi Arvidsson Forsberg Ellis, that team would be nuts.
They lose PK but replace him with a younger more dominant version.
Then PK I make my brand.
Send me home to my brother and best friend JT
Imagine a team with Kadri Tavares PK, all Toronto buddies, they would destroy.
Or PK goes to Vegas and does the same.
I just try to make logical connections man. These connections are both very logical. He got backstabbed once. He is picking his destination this time Ottawa says you pick where you want to compete for a cup. Last years cup finalists Vegas or this years Toronto. They are both the right choice. Ottawa makes 2 teams better and gets rewarded twice.

I wonder what it would take to get Duchene to Montreal. They need a center. He could be a good soldier this year. Hopefully sign a reasonable extension, we forget he was still the ers pick behind Tavares and Hedman. 4 years ago as a leafs fan playing NHL 14 getting Duchene was a dream. I wonder if long term Jesperi Kotkaniemi 1
Duchene 2. Both 3rd overal picks. Could split the pressure similar to Matthews and Tavares. If they also got Ceci. He could play behind Weber. Be bad this year Mintreal pick top 5 again, let Shea recover (dont Josh Donaldson the team MVP)
Literally tank with Duchene again. Mayne you get jack Hughes and literally
Hughes - Matthews
Kotkaniemi-Tavares
Duchene-Kadri
There's a best of 7 I would enjoy as a hockey fan.
What could Montreal give to Ottawa to have value to the sens but not hurt montreal's long term roster.
I don't know Montreals system enough but wow that could really work for both teams Montreal and Ottawa.
