Can you list off all the under 24 year olds with a 90+ point season and a season where he was on pace for 90 points? Totally not elite at all. Don't be a hopeless Homer fool. Yes you have the current Norris winner but disrespecting Marner just makes you look foolish.

Also because young, quality, club-controlled starting goalies that have had arbitration delayed for 2 years because of a couple entry level slides will cost you multiple first round picks.
Did you even look to see how much cap space Philly has with how many roster spots they need to re-sign/sign? If you did, you'd never even consider this trade.

Sign Brodie or DeMelo in free agency to shore up your 2nd spot RD.

Pietrangelo
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>leafsfaninvancity</b></div><div>I don't see too much of a bright future for the Leafs from the backend; if they don't sign a Tanev or Hamonic this offseason, and Pietrangelo is a really really long shot, they're going to have another first round exit next year. In 2021, the big name is Dougie Hamilton, but Carolina is in a great cap situation so I wouldn't be surprised to see him resigned. There's not a whole lot of RHD after that; there's Petry and Niskanen, but they're not that good defensively. If the Leafs draft Schneider, lets hope him, Liljegren, and Sandin turn into studs because even if the Leafs offer one of the big 4, teams are reluctant to trade top RHD.</div></div>
Perfectly worded. I for one have been super against Pietrangelo, as I’m a more for less kind of person. Pietrangelo just murders the future for the leafs

There’s a list of defenseman that are basically not moving for any offer, heiskanen, makar, Hughes, and the kid in buffalo. In no real order, you could ship everything but the kitchen sink at the other gm and they are not shipping them to town. In a salary cap era no chance

Shopping spree
Lets get one thing straight from the get go that the Leafs will not trade Dermott, Holl or Liljegren as well as Sandin as they are all part of the Leafs elite young defence core. It can take a defenceman sometimes 3 to 5 years to fully develope so the Leafs just need to stay patient and comitted to these young defenceman and let them learn and gain more NHL experience. I really think these 4 great young defenceman on the team combined with Rielly who is already a top five defenceman in the entire NHL and Muzzen who is maybe one of the best defensive defenceman in the entire NHL will give the Leafs one of the best defensive cores in the entire NHL for years to come .

Typical response some give concerning the future H.O.F'er and Norris Trophy winning Pesce.

TOR overpaid for all 3 of their other top forwards:
Nylander at 7 million, he should’ve gotten 6.
Tavares at 11 million should’ve gotten 10.
Matthews at 12 million should’ve gotten 10.5
Marner at 9 million is going to get 10.
That’s the way it works, you look at comparable from your team.

In Dubas I Trust
Hopefully I can stop defending Dubas for a bit now. He has been great for the leafs. But one last time... for old time sakes...
The leafs have two very viable backups in sparks and Hutch. There may be an upgrade made from any point from now till TDL, or maybe one takes the role and runs with it this year. Either way this is such a non problem. Backups are an easy fix.

I understand you're thinking here. Likely replacing Johnson by signing Dzingel, correct?
Here's why that's dumb IMO: Add something else to that Kadri trade, like brown, or just a pick, or a prospect. Keep Johnson and dont sign Dzingel. I'd say Johnson is better than Dzingel and would cost less and is younger. I think you could use Kadri and a different piece to bring in Trouba.

Just for fun wishful thinking
I don't think TOR will get AJ and KK for $3M AAV, but maybe.
Everything above Pesce makes sense and would be good moves.
TOR would have to overpay for Pesce and KK+ isn't going to do it.
Maybe do KK + picks for C Miller, and Nylander + [whatever else they ask for] for Pesce?

Sure, I can agree with that, and Kadri will likely get dinged for what he did. But for some of the media to now shift to pontificating on if he's played his last game as a leaf just makes me want to go all kad.. no debrus... no.. Marcha.. no.. Wilso.. no.. Karlsson it is possible
My gut tells me Karlsson would purposefully not sign with the Leafs out of his respect for Ottawa and their fans. He doesn't owe them anything but he seems like the guy that wouldn't do it. He'll get his money anywhere he wants and with just as good teams as the Leafs so choosing literally the team Ottawa fans probably would hate the most would be added bad joojoo for nothing IMO. (Unless he secretly always wants to play in Toronto specifically which then forget everything I've said)

The Barkov trade is just plain preposterous!!!
Not only would you be crushing a young man's life long dream by trading him from his childhood team. You would also force him to purchase different pajamas as he would not need his Leafs ones anymore.

He would definitely get a first. Goldobin is trash and doesn't help the Flames at all. A 2nd doesn't move the needle. Now if you did Stecher and a 2nd and maybe something small then maybe.

Having the punishment for cap circumvention be any value of money for the richest team in the league, would be asking the leafs to circumvent.
