Based on what DUBAS said today in his press conference
in my opinion, reading through the line of what he said today, we need graves to go back to last years form because we are kind of stuck with him with his contract which will be tough to trade. I do believe he will trade smith, last year of his contract and easy to trade for a late pick to a rebuilding team that will flip him retained at the deadline. honestly he wasn't awful but at the same time we needed more from him in particular down the stretch. Blomqvist I agree will be the backup (I do believe dubas might try to trade jarry if Ned can resign for less, very difficult tho we'll see).
personally, I would stay away from debrusk. he is good don't get me wrong but I think we need more consistency and not having a similar player to smith, even if a bit better.
if you trade smith and not sign debrusk you have 12mil left on the cap which I would give to puusty and guentzel. I know not easy but I do believe bringing back Jake is a huge boost not only for the present trying to make the playoffs but also for the future rebuild in a couple of years.
imo 7x10m is a tough offer to decline.
have like:
Jake sid rust
bunting geno raks
o'connor eller puusty/yager
and your fourth line.
what about Koivunen : is he actually close to make the team or not really?

not giving up the third, just have smith with a 6th/7th round pick coming back. even FC. not paying to get rid of him.

nahh you'll see. many teams will be interested to give up a 6th round pick and make it a 3rd or 2nd at the tdl

as for the trade, trust me, you are getting a much better deal than your counter offer.

trust me we won't. he is a great fit for teams looking to get more assets, losing a 6th to get a good player and then sell him retained at the deadline to get a 3rd maybe even a 2nd depending on the season he had. teams like ana, ari, Chicago etc should all be interested
but yea it is to move cap for the pens to make room, rakell would be harder to trade.

Build the muscle around the kids
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LuckyMoneyPuck</b></div><div>you have 2 2LD on the penguins. What penguins fans want is a 1LD and they aren't getting that without spending 7 mil on cap which they aren't doing.
When you fix the issues in the 3rd pairing which Bahl can do on the cheap, you fix a lot of issues on the defense.
We aren't going to get anything great for Jarry, while you may look at a 2nd as being worth more, they don't have time to wait for them to develop. This team will be in rebuild mode in 2 years. Some mid round 2nd round pick ain't going to matter then.</div></div>
you don't have to get picks to pick players, you can just flip them. we need tradable assets to get a good Dman not bahl. we have a great 1LD in Pete that can complement perfectly EK65, then we need a solid stay at home guy to play with tanger and our defense is done (have a third pairing of graves-st.ivany which is more than fine, even better if you can trade out graves contract)

Rather than get a second Bahl coming back is a guy they can at least use in their 3rd pairing.
The 2nd round pick, that won't see the ice till Crosby is retired. At that point, who cares.</div></div>
clearly your reasoning works but... bahl is not as valuable as a 1st/2nd round pick imo, he is not that good. we need a top 4 LD from a jarry trade or at least gain the assets to go trade for him.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Robinho3799</b></div><div>Jarry's contract is too big for the Kings, if there is no retention. But because his contract is still 4 years, I don't see why the Penguins would be open for a retetion, hence this deal is not happening.
The Kings better sign Nedeljkovic for the $2,500,000 you offered, so they save not only $2,875,000 but also their 2025 2nd round pick and 2026 6th round pick.</div></div>
ok, doesn't have to be the kings, many team would need a goalie next year anyway and this price seems fair to me. I believe Ned could still extend his contract at the end of the season before free agency.

He's getting paid. He's not taking a discount. Someone is giving him 7-8 years on a big money deal.
It most likely won't be PIT.</div></div>
pens fans ( and I am one of them) always knew what his value was. in car he is doing well but pit is where his game was at his best and is home for him.
I gave him 8.59 mil to do a similar thing Crosby did with their jersey numbers when signing te contract... it was just funny. plus there is 1.2 mil spare so you can add that and make it 7x9.7 already which is more than enough for him to sign in pit.
for Carolina however it will take at least 10.5 or even 11.

yeah the trade was a 1st + Turcotte . as for the hawks you are increasing the draft capital because you give up a 5th round pick in the summer to get a 2nd or at least a 3rd at the tdl. that was my thought process at least.
