I think it's good value for Brock. hes a good player. It's just that the caps are likely not a contender let alone playoff team for maybe the next 5-10 years so I don't think it's worth it for them.

thought we wouldnt get reinbacher cause he's around 10th OA but now that we are dropping in the draft I think our chances of Allvin selecting him or sandin pellika are much greater. the only problem is that either of those guys likely won't play for a year or two, maybe three or more, whereas the top 5 picks will likely play first or second year if healthy

JT Miller would have been a great fit. Brings toughness and many hits. Puts up a lot of points. He was bad defensively to start the season but he's improved it a lot, and somehow he's had selke votes in previous years. Plus nucks are actively shopping him. Not sure why the deal didn't happen, but maybe something will happen in the summer.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>reelnb</b></div><div>Hard no from the Habs. Matheson is:
A) Our best defenceman (on pace for 60 points if he'd not been hurt)
B) A recent acquisition
C) On an excellent deal
If we absolutely had to move him we'd not be looking to take a defenceman back as we already have too many</div></div>
you have a lot of left handed D (Guhle, Xhekaj, Harris, Matheson, Edmunson). Habs RHD consists of Savard, Barron, Kovacevic, maybe Mailloux in future. Moving Matheson for Roy would be good. Moving Matheson for Durzi would be even better cause he's younger. Montreals still years away from competing if Matheson is still there when competing id be surprised. Guhle Durzi pairing would be sick.

what? This is a massive upgrade on defense and we get out of Myers contract. Appleton is a right shot centre too we could use as 3/4 C. our 2024 first won't be top 10 unless we trade Miller and Boeser so its not any extreme value

If VAN really want Morrow
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dereliicte_campaign</b></div><div>Good lord there are some brutal takes here. Not sure Caniac watches hockey unless the canes play.
Aho and Pettersson are actually very comparable players, similar skill sets, frames and career statistics - both 200ft centremen who control play and make their line-mates better.</div></div>
Yes they are very similar that's what im saying. Caniac is saying Aho is much better than Pettersson... There was recently a post on reddit asking if Petey or Aho was better and 90% said Petey, and it was on r/hockey, even canes fans said Petey was better. Just shows how much of a homer this guy is. I think they are both good players but Petey is clearly the better player this year. It all started with the trash offer for Pettersson, he is worth more than a handful of bums. If you trade Pettersson you need to get back some serious pieces, either Necas or Jarvis + Morrow + 2 firsts... even that isnt a lot for a 24 yr old top 5 centre RFA.

I know. He goes 5-6+ games with zero points then scores a hatrick. One of the most inconsistent scorers in the league this year. Pettersson has more 2+ point games than zero point games.

Necas is also leeching off the power play too. He has more ppp than Pettersson. Petey is an even strength monster which is where the majority of the game is played. That's where the real value is. You could put Justin Holl on the canes power play and he'd have as many points as Necas.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>Interesting conversation going on here. Looks like 1 side is using this year's stats as a base case for a career and the other is using team stats because the Canes are just a much better team. I'm no fan of EP, but that's mostly because EVERYONE keeps saying he's SOOO good. I feel like last night's game against the Hawks is his career so far. A lot of hype...he got two goals last night and was terrible. He was invisible! I don't know if I've seen a game like that before. 2 goals in a 4-2 win...looked invisible and was a minus 1. You can't get that stat line even if you try. VAN should trade him away in the off season. They're not getting better before they get worse. They've got a terrible farm system and too many albatross contracts.</div></div>
Talking about invisible? I have Aho in fantasy this year and 3-4 times he's gone like 5 games in a row with no points. Being invisible and putting up points is a good combo. Being invisible and not putting up points is bad unless you're Chris Tanev.

If VAN really want Morrow
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>Let's use your logic that 1 season makes EP a 90+ point player. Necas is now a 60+ point player and he hit the highest top speed of any skater in hockey last year, meaning he's also faster. Necas' game breaking speed has value, and you can't say he's a winger because he can play both positions. Jarvis put up 40 points last year, so between them that's 100 points and they're producing more than EP for half the cap hit. Jarvis can also play both positions. Both are signed through next year where EP is on an expiring deal. If you think that kind of return is in line for a player like EP, you don't have a brain as opposed to having a potato. That's an AWFUL take.
Oh and trying yo use selke votes to justify EP being more compelete? Aho's been a top 10 selke candidate for years now. Get real. He's got a better xGA, he's got a better CA, and he's got better underlyings across the board. He won't win anything because Carolina is a Southern market and it is notoriously difficult for players in southern markets to win trophies. If it wasn't, Barkov would win the Selke annually.</div></div>
2021-14th in selke
2020-25th
2019-No votes
2018-12th
2017-No votes
2016-No votes
Not top 10 for years. Came close but not close to top 5. And the underlying stats are marginally better for Aho in the offensive zone but worse in his own end.
Jarvis is putting up 30-50 points in 82 games, middle 6 forward. Necas is putting up near ppg, top 6 forward. Pettersson putting up 1.31 ppg top 5 centre in the league top 5 selke candidate. If you think he's worth less than Necas and Jarvis then all I can say is that im shocked.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>Let's not act like we're talking about Aho here. Something Aho has which EP doesn't is Aho may be the most complete centerman in the NHL. Analytically, it's him and Hischier. So, let's focus on EP here. He's currently having his only PPG season of his career. Aho's had 5 at this point. Let's not act like EP and Aho are the same here.
EP is arbitration eligible. He's got a fairly expensive QO. He's never proven he can sustain this level of scoring. EP is having his first-ever season scoring at this rate. So, let's not try and argue like he's been a 90 point player his entire career. Good years raise his value, they add homes in Vancouver to his price (get it, because... bad joke)</div></div>
Ya were not talking about Aho here. We're talking about a 24 yr old 1st line centre that has 90+ points who plays in all situations and has been a top 5 selke candidate since November and carries his line and his team on his back. Pettersson is worth more than Necas and Jarvis. He's as complete as Aho, just add 30 points on top. Aho would have had similar value at 24 years old and an RFA. If you trade Aho/Pettersson for anything less than Necas and Jarvis you probably have a potato as a brain.

Getting Pettersson starts with Necas and Jarvis and ends with both GMs being fired. Trading Morrow for a young winger such as Hoglander/Podkolzin/Klimovich/Raty + draft pick is reasonable for both sides. Since canes like to be conservative, swapping young D for young forwards is low risk high reward.

same thing for Cozens it would take a lot to get him from BUF. Moving Connor wouldnt be good but if they want to go in a rebuild/retool direction getting Rosen Krebs and a top 20 pick this year is decent. Something like Savoie, Rosen, 2023 first is better in a Connor deal and if they were rebuilding I would take that instantly.

Severson deal is good. Why wouldnt he want to sign with a team that will make the playoffs for the next 5+ years? he's not signing in NJ they don't have the cap to sign him. 7 mill is the max he'll get anywhere he could sign for less long term.
