<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Camper27</b></div><div>Congrats, on getting what you received from the Jets.
Hopefully, Monahan brings what we are hopeful for a "productive 2C" going forward. The cost that was paid was a hefty one, probably driven upward by the price paid in the Lindholm deal the other day. I still have concerns about his injury history over the last couple years. As a final comment, still believe that a current year mid second round pick (45 - 52) would have been a fair return for this trade.
Many of the Mtl supporters called it as it played out. Congrats!!!!</div></div>
Yeah, I think most fans on both sides knew how this was going to play out. It’s unfortunate the extremes on both sides masked the reality,
Habs fans thinking a 1st and a top prospect with Jets fans a 3rd. Realistically speaking, an inconsequential late 1st has always been the going rate at the deadline, always has been.
Hope it works out for both teams.

I’d be ok with that Barron trade in the off season once we know what’s going on with Dylan and Dillon.

Rest is pretty much the same you said</div></div>
Yours predates the one I’m using my friend. March 21/22 vs July 13/22.
If there are JFresh cards for each player this current year, I would love to see them.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GuyGuyGuy</b></div><div>I’m looking at both player side by side and I see than Monahan has a higher pts pace despite playing with bottom six players, that he has better 5v5 defensive stats by quite a lot, even if Copp’s stats are inflated. Also, Copp never hitted 40 pts before.
Copp is a pk specialist that is awful defensively at 5v5. A Copp return is right what Monahan should get</div></div>
Monahan, WAR 13%(Copp63%) , ev DEF 55%(Copp52%) ev OFF 36%(Copp77%), PP 63%(Copp77%), PK 43%(Copp100%), G/60 16%(Copp47%)
Directly from JFresh
Keep beating this dead horse

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GuyGuyGuy</b></div><div>40% more defense is huge. Yes, monahan has bad stats, but Copp ain’t really that much better. We also can’t ignore that the card was made after the season, and his offence stats are inflated by a lot cuz of his 18 pts in 16 games with New York</div></div>
Cherry picking stats doesn’t increase Monahan’s trade value and valuing Monahan’s trade value that of Copps is just a bad take. 2 completely different players with Copp having better overall adavanced stats as well as better defensive and overall play. I’m looking at the player cards side by side and Copp is well and above better than Monahan, both by metrics and the eye test.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GuyGuyGuy</b></div><div>According to JFresh hockey, Monahan’s defence was way better than Copp’s. Copp was actually quite awful analytically. Monahan also has more pts on 5v5 than on pp. He hasn’t scored a pp goal in a long time. On top of that, he plays with ****ty linemates</div></div>
Way better? Come on! Seriously? Plus, if using JFresh, let’s use all the metrics then and not ignore all the other negative metrics then eh? There’s a lot of ****ty red all over Monahan’s card while Copps card looks quite respectable actually, lots of nice blue.
Monahan is a nice complimentary player, but he would have a very limited role on a contender. Would a GM overpay for him? Sure, it’s TDL mania and GMs get stupid. Hell, Montreal got a haul for a terrible D in Chiarot. Anything’s possible, but those deals are the rarity rather than the norm.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GuyGuyGuy</b></div><div>I think the most realistic trade comp out there is Andrew Copp. Almost identical offence (Monahan has a better pace), Monahan has better defensive analytics and he has a better history of putting more than 40 pts</div></div>
What? Lol. Copps defence is miles ahead of Monahan’s and Copp has a much better and overall rounded game. Monahan is good at faceoffs and is a essentially a power play specialist. He’s a poor skater and is not good 5v5 or defensively.
I think you guys will get a valuable piece for Monahan as GMs kind of go blind come TDL, but I think that you should temper your expectations thinking Montreal would get a Copp type return.

I hate Toronto with a passion but there is zero chance that they do this. I could see Knies moving for a T4RD with term, but Toronto is a bit cash strapped without one of the big guys moving.
