Feasible Ques Mark
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MNBassman</b></div><div>Is Couturier THIS good???</div></div>
Couturier is an elite defensive 1C philly isn't looking to move him so you would need to pay a price like this to get them to think about it. They have solid youth in the line up currently and need a dman and maybe another middle six forward and if they perform like expected they'll be a solid playoff team losing the 1C even for a nice package like this hurts the team since they aren't looking to rebuild

I don't know which reality you're living in where Nosek at 2C somehow means we're set at center. Are you thinking of someone else? What a horrendous contract.

Nosek will be 29 and hasn't even gotten 20p in a season. He was also on a team with less center depth than MN had last year and was the 4C there. How is he worth $5m x 4 contract?

We know. But he had his best seasons playing next to Kane, and Kaprizov is a similar player.
Moreover, he's a far better talent and option to play there than Viktor f*cking Rask. He would also be serving as a stop-gap until either Rossi is ready to take over as 1C or if Patrick can hit on his potential.
That center depth blows what we had this season outta the water.

In my mind I was thinking 61 in 82games not in 66, so 19-20 was much more productive than I was thinking.
But it sounds likely that I need to watch more because I am probably undervaluing him.</div></div>
The two seasons where he didn't reach 50 points was because he was stuck on power play two. That unit was so inept, that they would practically keep the first unit out the whole time. Almost all his points came at 5v5. Once he got moved up to pp1 in 19-20, it wasn't surprising he nearly became a ppg player and led the team in scoring. This year everyone on the team sucked so it wasn't just Konecny. I think Konecny will be a reliable 70-80 point guy in his prime.

Near PPG player 2 years ago and he's still young with potential. I'd love him personally. He plays a really fast, hard game that I think would fit in well for us.

It was in a TSN segment with Draeger and LeBrun, coincidentally they also solidify that Laine is on the block. I think it was Friday.
I don’t think it’s so much as lower the price as it is bring it to where it to where the price always was unless somebody did something dumb.

And yes he is painfully slow ( Him I have watched). I like the idea of a RH center... but my focus hasn’t been on the 3C spot because of our obvious 1C problem.
I am so-so on Monahan. Definitely an upgrade, but I am hoping that BG can bring in something better... maybe I am unrealistic in my hope, but I am hopeful nonetheless.</div></div>
I'd be happy with Monahan. He has multiple 30 goal seasons, he's big, skates well, great in the face off circle, and can make plays as well. His defense leaves a bit to be desired but we have Ek to take care of that side of the puck. Wish he were a right shot but that's not a huge deal. He's more of a fringe 1C but with wingers like Fiala, Kaprizov, and Zucc (who I think could revive his career with Monahan) he'd have enough playmakers to produce

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MNBassman</b></div><div>True. Stupid, but true! I am adamantly opposed to signing Zucc! Not because he is not a good player, but signing a tiny left-shot 32 year old to a long-term contract is suicide...and I fear Leipold and Fenton are too stupid to realize this!
Ottawa is a place I think might actually take Rask. He would be a good option to plug in at a fairly big cap hit so they can continue to suck and add high draft picks while they rebuild.</div></div>
I'd like Zucc a lot more than Simmonds (although you probably disagree). Simmonds reminds me a ton of Lucic when he signed his deal with Edmonton, and I do NOT want a $6M 4th line winger. Zucc has the skill to be on the 3rd line, even towards the end of his career. Worst case scenario we just LTIRetirement him for the final year or two of his contract. I don't want Simmonds or Zucc, but if we have to sign one I'd rather have Zucc...
I agree that Ottawa might take Rask, but they aren't swapping a likely late 6th for a higher 6th to do that. It'd take a high pick to get rid of him, and honestly I'd rather just have him be a pylon for a year then either buy him out or maybe trade him with a good player to get rid of him.

I wouldn't hate Appleton, but I'd rather try for Roslovic (not sure if Winnipeg does it though). That could be a decent swap if Appleton turns into a good middle 6 forward. I'd rather keep Foligno, he is the only guy that owned up to the team playing poorly and he did it in a classy way. Wood doesn't do much for me, he has a ton of speed but not much else. If we trade Zucker it pretty much has to be for a top 6 right shot forward.

That's a tough question... I'm not very sure. I haven't even liked most of the Zucker trades I've made! I think the trades I've liked aren't possible anymore, since I wanted to move Zucker for a top 15 pick at the draft. Now that those ships have sailed, we're probably best off keeping him.

I love him too and I agree, I think trading him is the smart move. We probably aren't serious contenders for a few years and if we re-sign him we'll waste the better years he has left in him. I'd love to swing for the fences and try to land Marner even if we'd have to overpay him, but I don't think Spurgeon is the D Toronto would ask for. Same goes for Point I'd think.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>kallenpj</b></div><div>And I am happy to keep Zucker around, but we need to at least make a few adjustments...</div></div>
I am as well, I've always liked Zucker, but having 1 right shot forward in our top 9 was a major issue. Fortunately Dumba started playing the left circle spot on the PP which helped a lot until he was injured, but ideally we trade for another top 6 right shot guy to help scoring off of rushes and on the PP. We will see I guess...

Not sure, I think the trade is fine value-wise, but the cap is the big issue. We'd probably have to take Reimer and Pysyk or something.

The stats say he's not a #1. & he's definitely not a good pairing with Rielly. Spurgeon needs a defensive guy to get him the puck and then Spurgeon breaks the puck out. He might be a good fit for Muzzin but that's Toronto's second pair. On Toronto, Sprugeon would have the 4th best analytics behind Rielly, Muzzin, and Dermott (assuming Gardiner leaves).. not exactly a #1</div></div>
My career is in statistics. You're out of your mind if you think 20% of the season is a sufficient sample size and I can tell you've never watched the guy since he's saved our ass countless times on the ice. If you can give me a sample size that covers nearly a full season (>90%), then we'll talk, but until then I'll trust The Athletic writer that also has a career in statistics over somebody on the internet trying to say an 18 game sample size is enough for meaningful data.

Thanks! Sharks are in a pretty bad spot with their cap even after trading Braun, they have to re-sign Meier and Labanc which will cost them a lot.
