Every fan base does, it is the natural bias of a fan to look at their own team/prospects/picks subjectively. Even if you try to, someone on this website will shut you down on your proposal lol.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>newballcoach</b></div><div>The salary cap increase is not enough to resign Nylander and Matthews. Keeping Brodie (and his expiring contract) is important in that sense. He's also still really good (I'd rather have him that Soucy).
Please explain why Max Domi is a perfect fit for this team. He scores a ton of points but grades out as a negative expected goals player because of his awful defence. He isn't particularly great at forechecking or zone entries. There's a reason he's been on so many teams, why should the Leafs give him all that money?</div></div>
I honestly have no issues with keeping Brodie, however I think that Soucy fits what Treliving wants in his defenseman - big, mobile 2 way defensemen. And he doesnt have too much mileage on him.
In terms of Domi, he is a good scoring forward who has chemistry with Marner, has always been linked to the Leafs and can play both C and wing. He is known to come up in clutch moments and raises his game the bigger the stakes. He also has some nastiness in his game that fans love. I have ALWAYS wanted him on the Leafs since he has been drafted. Think of him as a Bunting replacement. Saying the Leafs shouldn't get him because of his expected goals and awful defensive game is just ludicrous. I think he would fit well here.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>newballcoach</b></div><div>I can not understand why so many people want to trade TJ Brodie when he's our best defenceman. Those UFA contracts to Domi and ORielly are going to be trouble and they're going to prevent you from having cap flexibility to resign Matthews and Nylander.</div></div>
Domi is a perfect fit for this team. With the cap going up these deals should be a little more palatable.
Brodie was injured this past season, and struggled in the playoffs. Also Treliving tried to trade him once (to the Leafs), and didn't opt to resign him when he turned to become a Free Agent.
Add in Pittsburgh's need for a D and they have cap space, with Dubas in charge this move makes a ton of sense.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>brady_t12</b></div><div>Young elite goalies don’t get traded. That’s why there’s no comparable. Saros would be the best goalie to be traded since Ryan Miller and even then he was 33, 34 years old at the time. Saros is in his prime and a top 5 goalie in the league. Just because Askarov is in the system doesn’t mean they ship him out for one year of a star winger and an average starting goalie. That’s awful asset management. Nashville’s window is not open yet. If they’re moving him, they’re getting pieces that line up with a window a couple years down the line.</div></div>
Tbh the only reason I thought about it is I heard a similar proposal on the radio, so thought maybe it would stick, but I guess not in your opinion.

Eh I disagree. A Samsonov Askarov tandem is quite intriguing and cost effective. And when has a goalie gone for a crazy return in the past 10 years?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Huge_Caniac_Abe_Lincoln</b></div><div>I think Debrincat is a better player than Necas. Breakout year aside, Cat has shown that he can score when Necas has been shaky. That being said, we haven't seen him in a defensive system, as Senators fans are happy to point out they DJ Smith doesn't have one. I don't think he would score nearly as much as in Chicago or Ottawa (which is less than what Necas produced last year), and I don't think that the extra (projected) 5.5 Million cap hit is worth his production even if he rebounds.
FWIW I could see Necas being a ppg player in Carolina, or regressing slightly to 60 points on the year, but I don't think Cat would make more than a ppg either and again, the difference in cap hit allows Carolina to pay a bit extra for a good 3LD or even just sign a second line winger rather than trade for Cat.</div></div>
Carolina and Debrincat are a perfect match. I think he is EXACTLY what they need.
I think Necas is a good 70 point scoring winger who I could see mesh well in their top 6. Also Debrincat will be signing long term in Carolina in this scenario.
In terms of 1 for 1 swaps, I think this is fair.

We should just keep 14th overall, but if we do move it it can be done much better.</div></div>
Dubas loves Matt Murray lol. I think Guentzel and a 1st for Marner is fair-ish value. Take out everything else.

I actually think its pretty fair. Unless you switch for Byram, not sure if that would be more fair, as a one for one.
