Cirelli to the Jets v2
I just cant see an organization trading someone on the first year of their 8 year deal, to be honest I don't even remember that last time that happend. The jets would most likely have to wait a few years for cirelli to become available

I like it for the jets, but I think he costs more than that. You'd probably have to replace Stanley with Heinola</div></div>
See, this is the type of constructive comment that I'm looking for, lol. I think that with the retention, the Jets would seriously consider doing Lucius, Heinola, a 1st and the other two. Stanley doesnt actually have value to us, we just need him off our books to make the money work this year. From the Jets' perspective, Cirelli becomes a 2C this year, and probably next year, then in year 3 is our 3C behind Scheifele and Lambert, with Lowry as 4C and it all sort of works at cirelli for 5.25m but becomes hard to fit at a higher number. If Tampa would consider retaining if the Jets make the offer worth it, I think there's a chance for this to work for both sides. Tampa would clear 5.25m in cap space and return three cost-controlled assets (heinola, lucius and the 1st), then a couple of reclamation projects who might be cheap depth as early as next year.

Should've been a comfortably 80-point team this year. This year feels worse than last, somehow.

There are multiple articles naming Winnipeg as one of the teams interested in Monahan. Also multiple articles stating the asking price is a 1st or a prospect and a 2nd. It’s really not that much of a stretch to think he may end up in Winnipeg. Not that the Jets would have any interest in dealing Rutger, that I agree is pure fantasy.</div></div>
Lol…maybe articles on no credibility sites like fourth period, but on actual sites/networks every report I’ve seen states the Jets are looking for better than Monahan, Lindholm is usually named as the target, and that Monahans value is a 2nd OR a B-prospect at best

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>masterjuddi</b></div><div>I disagree about Monahan and Grandlund not being an upgrade. Either one could supplant Nameskiov as the 2C (at times), but either could be really good 4th liners with PP time.
The more I think about it, the more i want Chevvy to go big game hunting on a 2C. Not sure who, Lindholm perhaps, but preferably someone with term if they have to give up such so much</div></div>
Yeah, Lindholm is an obvious choice, but with the competition for him, I think he'll get priced out of Chevy's market.
Monahan is just a bad fit. I don't know what you're seeing, but Monahan isn't an upgrade over anyone in Winnipeg's top 9. Vlad is better 5 on 5 and better at everything else, save FO's and not a liability defensively. Due to being a defensive liability, Monahan isn't a good 4th liner. He's just not worth wasting assets on as he doesn't move the needle even slightly.
Granlund, while better than Monahan, isn't an upgrade over anything in Winnipeg's top 9 and once again Vlad is a better and cheaper. You also have to take into account Granlund has another year on his awful contract, so the Jets would have that anchor hanging around next year. Which would negate any benefits of moving or buying out Schmidt. I don't think the Jets want to add a bad contract.
For me, neither of these two make any difference, so why bother to throw away good assets and risk messing with the chemistry of a team that is playing well to add players, just to add players.

Lindholm - obviously the one to pursue here. Probably too much to acquire though due to competition for his services.
Monahan - not an improvement over anything the Jets already have. Bad fit for the Jets. Not good enough offensively for the top 6, not good enough defensively for the bottom 6. The Jets are playing well and shouldn't go out of their way to mess with their lineup to add an inconsequential player.
Granlund - not an improvement over anything the Jets already have.
Schmaltz - Won't be available imo.
Henrique - why bother.
Hopefully of Chevy is thinking of adding, he's looking at guys none of us think are available.

You didn’t read anything I wrote did you! I’m not doing any of these trades, just showing how sharks would
Look with a legit starting 6 and slotting everyone else down makes this team competitive.

Button says they need another C but also a big winger
With how the Jets are playing, they have no incentive to consider overpaying for bad players to be their healthy scratch.
Monahan flat out isn't anywhere close to replacing anyone in Winnipeg's top 9 and would be in for the fight of his life to replace someone on the 4th line. He just isn't needed and flat out worthless to Winnipeg.

He's been driving with flat tires most of the season.
The majority of his points were 5v5 last year. It's 50/50 this year.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jay27</b></div><div>I don’t think he’s a 2c. I believe he can fill that spot short term if need be but he’s more a complimentary winger piece on the 2nd line or a reliable 3c who wins a lot faceoffs and can play special teams. If you look at past TDLs a couple of seconds is a pretty reasonable asks for that type of player and Winnipeg is one of the reported teams to be interested so I put 2 and 2 together.</div></div>
People don't put much value in having insurance for the playoffs, but it's a factor. Even if you see him as a 3/4 liner, you have a guy ready to step up if say, Scheifele gets suspended or Tavares gets injured.

Monahan also isn't worth anywhere close to that haul to most teams and definitely not Winnipeg.
