Jets wouldnt do this
Lousy return for McGroarty
Only piece with value for WPG is Barron, and adding a couple pics and 2 bottom 6 players doesn’t equal McGroarty

Seriously… why is it so hard to grasp that Monahan isn’t what WPG needs or wants and he’s not worth more than a 2nd at most

Nice one. Montreal does that without hesitation.

Why wouldn't McGroarty sign? Has there been rumors he doesn't want to play in Winnipeg or something?

BTW IMO, it would take at least Barron + the Habs 2024 1st (top 3 protected) to be considered

There are multiple articles naming Winnipeg as one of the teams interested in Monahan. Also multiple articles stating the asking price is a 1st or a prospect and a 2nd. It’s really not that much of a stretch to think he may end up in Winnipeg. Not that the Jets would have any interest in dealing Rutger, that I agree is pure fantasy.

Lol…maybe articles on no credibility sites like fourth period, but on actual sites/networks every report I’ve seen states the Jets are looking for better than Monahan, Lindholm is usually named as the target, and that Monahans value is a 2nd OR a B-prospect at best

This Habs fan thinks KH does this trade in a heartbeat as long as there’s a guarantee that he signs.

Why does everyone value Monahan so low? I personally hope they re-sign him.

Well let’s remember this little conversation and come back to it when he is dealt and see who was closer.

I think its important to distinguish between bad trade and bad value. Its a bad trade (assuming Rutger hasn't asked for a trade) because he's a highly touted prospect that they just drafted but the value believe it or not isn't bad. Its main fault is quantity over quality but if you were to trade each one of those pieces individually and then consolidate as much as possible, you'd probably end up with a value that would be respectful for Rutger if it were done that way.

Regardless though, its the equivalent of trading 100 pennies for a 1 dollar coin/bill. Yeah they equal the same but intrinsically they don't. If someone wanted to pay me a dollar in pennies for something I had, I'd rather not make deal at all than accept the pennies.

Why would montréal give up assets for him when they could just sign him for free in two years?

Would be shocked if McGroarty did not sign. Very high character guy. Dad was wearing Jets hat at WJC.

Future Winnipeg captain.

No rumours about McGroarty not signing. I think people are looking at Gauthier and then looking at other US college based prospects. Recent interview (last week) McGroarty said how he liked how the Jets reached out to him after his injury and during injury rehab. Spoke well of the development coaches Jimmy Roy and Mike Keane (which are his main points of contact as a prospect)

No worries. I suspect we will see more Gauthier-inspired threads. Haha

We shouldn’t give Barron + Monahan for McGoroaty. In fact, Barron shouldn’t be in any trade. Apart from Hutson and Reinbacher, he is the D I would never trade

Barron isn't part of the future IMO, he is the odd man out by 2026/27. Reinbacher, Konyushkov and Mailloux should all be ahead of him by then. If we could snake McGroarty for this package I would drive both Monahan and Barron to Winnipeg myself

Barron is so overhated by habs fan. IMO he is ahead of Reinbacher in 5 years. Very solid 60 pts D

He will definitely be ahead of Mailloux and Bogdan

Please, Barron hasn't hit 30 ever and isn't on pace to get that even this year. If he scores 40 in his career year I will be very surprised!

Reinbacher hasn’t even score 1 pt yet…

We can’t judge young D when they haven’t played for a while. Barron is 22 and look really solid offensively and he is getting better defensively. I’m sure he will hit 50 one day, probably more. He is part of our future way more than Mailloux is
