This offer above is ridiculous and absolutely disgusting. But it is also weird to link Petry to DET considering the fact they are rebuilding. Petry will fetch a first and a solid prospect from a team that is not Detroit.</div></div>
This trade is in response to some of the crazy Petry trades out there. I agree Detroit doesn't make sense at all for Petry. I have a hard time seeing Petry netting a 1rst and a good prospect because of his age, contract amount and term. Especially considering we are still dealing with a flat cap. I could easily be wrong, some team could see him as a missing piece.

But it’s easy to make any player look bad when you cherry pick stats lol. The whole Habs team has struggled this year and while only one point a head of Engvall…..he has played 7 less games.
He has only had more than 30 points in a season. That’s correct and also a cherry picked stat. Last season he played 52 games and had 24 points….17 goals. The season before 47 points in 82games…..27 goals. This season he’s played 27 games 14 points….8 goals. Over 82 that’s average 24 goals ….42 points
By far not the best player in the league but not the slug you want to make him out to be. Oh and he played 22 games in the playoffs last season……more than Mathews, Marner and Tavares combined (see how cherry picking stats look?) lol

I can understand no team wanting $10.5M Price. I can understand you not wanting to trade Wallstedt.
Price just dragged a team to the Cup. At $5-6M, find a better goalie for a playoff run. If Price is available, GMs are calling, its a joke to think he is "negative value". If he was retiring, he wouldnt have gone through rehab only to return to bust his ass to get back into game shape...

moves i believe are necessary
Don't waive pezzetta, guys like him he'll be good to keep for morale on a bad team.
It will be interesting to see what Gorton does. I think Chiarot has to be traded no matter what - Guhle is coming and it doesn't make sense to pay Chiarot vs Guhle on an ELC especially when Chiarot should get a good return.
I think Kulak also has to go, makes sense to get a pick for him as he is easily replaceable. Same goes for Wideman who has been somewhat productive.
Then I think you sell Paquette (if there are any takers) and then at least one of Armia, Lehkonen, Byron, or Perrault (maybe 2). Lehkonen is playing good hockey so I'd ask high for him.
Now do you stop there or go full rebuild?
Petry? Price and/or Allen? One of Toffoli / Anderson / Gallagher? One of Hoffman / Drouin? Thats really the big question IMO, rebuild or retool.

Doesn't ARI get the higher of the two Carolina / Montreal picks??
EDIT: Nevermind, here are the conditions on the 1st round pick as part of the Dvorak trade, if you were confused just as I was.
The better of Montreal/Carolina's 2022 1st round pick BUT if either or both are top 10 picks then Montreal will instead transfer to Arizona the worse of Montreal/Carolina's 2022 1st round pick.

Niku played well, had 2 assists and was fairly responsible defensively, much like Norlinder in the preseason.

Guhle is 19, Norlinder is 21. I am not saying Norlinder will be better, but there is a better case for keeping Norlinder over Guhle for their development.

Opening night lineup
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>math731</b></div><div>Just switch Norlidner and Wideman and I think you got it. Top 6 is amazing imo and that 4th line might be the best in the league if Evans can remain healthy (i believe he'll make us forget Danault very fast). That 3rd line might bring a lot of offense depending on how Poehling adapts to the NHL and how good Drouin will play. 35-40 pts for Poehling? 60pts for Drouin?</div></div>
Is Norlinder use to play on his opposite side? I don't like placing him on the right side for his first year, it puts unnecessary pressure on his shoulders, I'm more a fan of making him learn his first games/seasons on his natural born side.

KK with good linemates
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>math731</b></div><div>Dont play Hoffman with Caufield and Suzuki on the PP. Give him to KK on the other unit. That way, you can keep Suzuki on the right circle cross icing passes to Caufield and the same with KK to Hoffman on the other unit.
Put Gally in front of the net and Toffoli bumper with Suzuki and Caufield (with either Romanov or Norlinder on the blue line). Drouin behind the goal line and Poehling or Anderson bumper/front of the net with the other unit.</div></div>
I would also swap Toffoli with Drouin at 5 on 5 cause Toffoli slows that line down a bit and Drouin would be able to not only keep up but also provide controled zone entries.

Starter and top 6 F
1. Drouin isn't a cap dump. He had a down year and still would have been 4th on the oilers for points by forward. He'd be pretty good with Draisatl or McDavid.
2. Why would MTL have to retain and give a 3rd?
3. Koskinen is worth > a 2nd round pick to dump, not quite a 1st but the difference between Drouin (with salary retention) and a 3rd makes the 1st not worth it... and I don't think MTL has any interest in taking cap dumps for contracts either after just going to the finals and drafting a lot over the last few years... they are looking to be competitive now not take cap dumps.

What the Sabres would accept from Montreal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Narwhal90</b></div><div>This trade is based on what the Sabres current asking price is (young top 6, two prospects, two 1st).
The issue with Montreal is that they have some cap issues, so Drouin, and Bryson are there to help make space. However Drouin would have to agree to this.
The second issue with Montreal is that they play in the Sabres division. This tends to be a issue in the past when teams move high end players.
Ik everyone will say it's overpaying, it is alot. But I honestly don't think anything less would get him into Montreal. And with his NMC kicking in next season this is kinda Montreal only time to attempt a trade for Eichel.</div></div>
Caufield is not being moved 1 for 1 lol this trade is a joke
