The return on that would have to be MASSIVE if the wild are retaining half of the contract + giving up the best player in that deal. The return would be more than what Buf wants for eichel.

Kap dosent have a contract atm, so there’s no way we could retain on it. If it was a sign and trade with retention that would not make sense at all. Rangers have about 8M in cap space this year left, I could see Kap going 4 years x 8M with them

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RoyalBlueSabres</b></div><div>For sure. Every team is trying to get the upperhand. The NMC isn't until Jul 1st next year so realistically they could hang on to him during the year and trade. But if eichel wants out that bad he would accept a trade to any team not buffalo so I'm not too worried about the NMC to be fair.
I think the trde has to revolve around some futures and some cap dump nhl players to get it done.</div></div>
I agree, the trade will be interesting to see what he’s moved for if it ever happens

At worst case he is 7th best. But younger than everyone on that list.
I would think that when a deal is close then that team would have access to records and physical.
This neck thing I believe has been blown out of proportion as it seems like more of a powerplay to get out of Buffalo than an actual lingering issue.</div></div>
I would like to think that as well, but if nobody has seen the medical records yet then that means Buffs ask is way too high. Buff also needs to consider that his NTC (Might be a full NTC/NMC or a 10 team I can’t remember) kicks in after this year which further complicates things. I think that yes Eichels true value is higher, but teams can see the situation and want to make the best deal for themselves.

Only Eichel Deal i think BG considers
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RoyalBlueSabres</b></div><div>Min is way too high on Fiala. He is a good top 6 winger. Literally every team has a Fiala.
Very few teams have an eichel.
The dude is a top 5 Center. Young. And under contract.
There is no scenario where Eichel is traded for anything less than a kings ransom.
Any playoff team that acquires him is going to be an instant contender. Of course at the price of the prospect cupboard and picks.</div></div>
“Every team has a fiala” that is very debatable, Fiala is a game breaker who’s played with bad line mates the last 2 years and has still produced.
Eichel is not a top 5 center, McDavid, Leon, Crosby, Mackinnon, Matthews are better. I would say Barkov is better as well. So he’s the 7th best center in the league, with a major neck injury, who’s team wants a king ransom for him but yet refuses to give anybody access to his medical records. Again Gurein and any other smart GM isn’t going to trade the world for Eichel without getting a look at his medical records. Until BUF allows that this trade is probably the best they will get.

Petterson offer sheet P2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Juiceman</b></div><div>Canucks have 1 week to match the offer which is plenty of time to get business done. Virtanen is pretty much guaranteed not gonna be playing for Vancouver next year and Holtby is most likely gone as well. Schmidt isn’t even a complete cap dump and he would actually give us a return like a third round pick. Eriksson and Roussel don’t have to be moved but they can or they can just be buried in the minors. They are only in a bad spot this year, after next year when all of the bad contracts expire, we will have a lot of cap space.</div></div>
1 week to match the offer, but you can’t buy anybody out after the 27th, so buy outs need to have happened before the offer sheet was accepted, or even offered. Van traded a 3rd for Schmidt last year, he put up half the points this year and was worse on D, I doubt they get a 3rd back this year. Maybe a 5th, and in the flat cap summer that’s pushing it. Burying Erickson and Rousell would save about 4 million max? I’m just saying any offer sheet like this would put the Canucks behind the 8 ball.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Juiceman</b></div><div>lol imagine having the audacity to offer sheet Pettersson for not even the max amount of compensation range. You know how easily Canuck can shed millions of dollars? Virtanen and Holtby buyout saves 6.5 million dollars. Burying Roussel and Eriksson saves 3 million dollars. You’re right Beagle will be off of LTIR but Ferland will probably never play a game again. If we decide to dump Eriksson and Roussel, the cost would probably be a few draft picks. That is the last resort but the canucks can easily move money in other ways.</div></div>
2 things:
1.They would need to Buy out Virtanen and Holtby before FA opens on July 28th
2. Im talking next years first round pick in order to get rid of Eriksson/Rousell/Schmidt if they were to match the Petterson offer sheet because it would happen after the draft.
The Canucks matching the offer sheet would leave them in a bad spot, unless they were to make these moves before FA.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>VAN will deal with that. It's only 1 year. It's not worth a high pick.</div></div>
If their roster stays as is once FA opens, I don't know how VAN would "Deal with it" since they will have 5m in cap space for 5 spots. They would have to unload either Schmidt or Eriksson contract, and if they were to match before doing that the entire league would see that they couldn't field a cap compliant team outside of signing 5 guys to 1M deals/need ELC guys to fill those spots. At that point they are cornered cap wise, and would need to give up significant assets to offload either of those deals.

Zucc NMC goes to a 10 team NTC next year, Dumba would need to be moved assuming Addision or Menell are able to give 85% of his production, just not enough money in the flat cap world to keep him. If it takes us moving Dumba after this year to sign Petterson I do it 10/10

If Van matches they would be in Cap Hell. They would be left with 5 million in cap space this year with only 16 players signed. They also have 6.5M on LTIR not counting against their cap at the moment so they would be essentially over the cap, unless those are injuries that will keep those guys out next year as well. Either way they would either have negative cap space, or 5m in cap with a min of 5 players to sign still. Also, a 5 year offersheet for Petterson would mean hes a UFA at 27/28 I think he would do that over being a UFA at 30

If Bob can be an average goalie here we will be fine with it, I doubt this would ever happen, but just tossing ideas out there. Basically Billy G would be banking on the cap to increase alot after 2024 or whatever year it can go up more than a million with the Kap and Fiala contracts ending then. Can also trade Fiala/Kap for a boatload of assets and build around Boldy and Rossi.
