Verhagee got $4.16M so they have $21M to sign Barkov, 3 top 9 forwards and a top 6 D-man. Then the following year notable expiring contracts are Weager and Hubredeau are UFA and Knight are RFA. Hubredeau we suspect should be at $8M and weager closer to $5M. If they play Knight a lot next year, all of a sudden he can be somewhere around Nedelkjicv at $3/Year. They are a good team, they cant sacrifice the entire third line to sign Reinhart IMO.

Lock up Hughes - bridge Petey
Im more confident in Peety over Hughes. Hughes so far has not shown he can play defense, use that against him in getting his AAV down. Peety if he plays a full year watch out, he could be scoring 90-100pts a season and thats 10M starting money.

We just got Dickensson, I dont think we need another 2/3rd line checker with light offesneive upside. Especially at $3.5M and considering Toronto traded for McCann, to protect Kerfoot, I dont see this trade happening.

Eichel hits Gold Fluery returns home
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dutchies</b></div><div>I'm not sure Vegas needs a top center. Tuch filled in pretty good, and Stephenson was outstanding this year and was hurt in the first game. Cudo's to the Habs, they've been excellent, but each team they faced has had their 1 or 1B center knocked out of the series in the first game. The prospect would have to be pretty decent I would think. Jarry would only be a stop gap as a 1B (and a pretty expensive one) behind Ullmark until UPL is ready. Joseph would be a good add.
BUF can't afford a long rebuild. Their fanbase is starving, and they have to make it quick (within 2-3 years). Picks are ok, but they need NHL or close to NHL talent in all trades.</div></div>
Tuch is not a top line player why does everyone think he is, he is good a really good second liner. Stephenson has potential to be a number 1/2 centre. They should and need an elite centreman.
No one is going to give what buffalo wants then if they are a contender. I could see Detroit willing to give up Bertuzzi/Vrana + Dman and picks because effectively Detroit's picks are full round a head of Vegas'. But there's no contender that could honestly give up BOTH a top 6 forward centre age 25 under and a top 4 d age 25 under. Only way is through picks, then BUF has to be smart and trade those picks away for players who contenders can't hold onto due to expansion draft.
If they want it all from one team they are going to lose the trade hard.
To the guy who said Jarry is no good, he's another asset for Buffalo to utilize either for trade or to continue develop. He's only 26 he's young and has shown he can be at least a 1B goalie. Buffalo needs assets as many as they can get

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dutchies</b></div><div>So you would rather trade it to Tampa for the likes of Johnson, Palat or Killorn or Gourde, all of whom have shorter and more expensive contracts than a young, tough Tuch who's signed to a long term team friendly deal? Cause I'm gonna be honest, those are the guys they are looking to move. Guys like Cirelli are gonna cost more than the 9th (like Tuch), and Point, Kuch, Stammer, are untouchable.
This is a pretty shallow draft. Top 10 are pretty good, but not earth shattering.</div></div>
Tuch is a really good complementary piece, we just can't justify the price for him. If we were a playoff team sure 1st+3rd and prospect is fine. But we are not at that competitive position to make that trade. With Tampa your going to get multiple pieces that could benefit the team enough that it will make a significant effect on performance.
Vegas doesn't have to move Tuch, they are only moving him if they can get a better forward. Tampa needs to move players and with Benning announcing to the world he wants to be active in the grade market it means there's a good chance he moves that pick.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dutchies</b></div><div>BUF flips Fleury to PIT for Jarry a pick and a prospect and then covers 50% of the salary. that makes the trade palatable from all sides.</div></div>
Thats what I wrote minus the prospect the 50% retained by a third party team I dont know how to do it in the trade simulator, but i wrote that down in the first comment to claifiy that issue.
If it has to be a prospect im guessing its a B-/C+ type at best. 2 former 5th round type guys who have a shot at becoming bottom 6 guys is what I'd imagine. They aint getting a potential top 6 prospect + pick ( i assume 2nd rounder) + Jarry. Jarry is young afterall he is only 26, he's still developing but we both agree if we were in Hextall's shoes we dont wait around for Jary to develop as Sid and Malkin aint getting any younger.
Vegas needs cap space for a top centre as the Habs series showed us
BUF needs assets, a lot of them and quality ones
PIT needs a goalie, Fluery has to be moved and he would only move there anyway, the other option is he doesn't waive his NTC and then VGK has to expose Lenher ahhaa

It doesn't even make sense for the Canucks, Tuch, is not 9th overall worthy if you're a rebuilder like Vancouver.
We are only trading that pick if we can bundle it for something really franchise changing. If not we are holding it. I'm on team trade it to TB for a bunch of their $18M over cap forwards

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dutchies</b></div><div>Pit's getting a steal here. Dumping Jarry and only giving up a second for a half price Fleury?</div></div>
Jarry had an off year, his ceiling isnt much more than a really good 1a goalie type. If he had a 910% save he easily gets a 2nd and 3rd; but down year he probably only worth a 2nd at best. But I wouldn't call it a steal, VGK couldn't move Fleury for anything of value last year while retaining salary and trading a pick with him. He had a great year but he only has 1 year left and I would imagine it's almost a guarantee that Fleury would be signing with Pit at the end of next year so that devalues him in trades because is there a contender that would want Fleury for just 1 year before going back to PIT, id say no.

CAP relief for a good future forward
to move Ericksson, its going to and always has been a 1st rounder, because he is in his final year, THERES A CHANCE a team who does not see it self as a playoff team who also wants to save money can make a trade for him but they will still ask for at least a 4th rounder MINIMUM. Thats a unique case and there arent many teams in that position. DET is one of them but Yzy is to smart, if we gave them a 3rd rounder for them to take him and Yzy doesn't think he can sign any of the big free agents this year I bet you he does it.
Personally, Id take a gamble on Tyler Bertuzzi, we don't know how he will be after his injury but TB needs cap relief and DET can offer it, and I guarantee that Yzy is going to get some pretty good players from his old team. Killron, Pallat, TJ they need to find a way to shed salary. So if Yzy can quickly acquire some draft picks and then go around and offer them to TB for some of their players I bet you its going to happen.

Eichel hits Gold Fluery returns home
I don't know how to have a third party team take on retained salary, but have Vegas move Fluery to BUF then BUF retains 50% of Fluery's remaining 1 year and move him back to PIT. BUF can have either DeSmith or Jarry whoever they want. Based on the Staal deal to DET and Marleau deal to CAR, $3-$4M in cap savings for 1 full year is worth roughly a 2nd and or 3rd round depending on the team who is shedding the salary off from.
Vegas does not have a top 4 dman who is under 25 to offer for Eichel, but with the picks coming back they have more than enough to pick up at least 1 if not even 2 top 4 dmen if they do not want to select with those draft picks.
It seems like a lot of draft picks but effectively its 2 2nds and 2 3rds which isn't bad but isn't great but its a lot of picks which are still very valuable (2 2nds gets you D.Toews)

Also Beagle and Russel have M-NTC. Assume you can not move either one, Louie IF the team has cap space, wont take Louie on for at least a 1st full stop. If the team has money issues, we could use him and get a low round pick back but again, which team has cap space? Ottawa and PHX would love him but do either team have the cap space?

USA core plus Peety
I just wish the NHL GMs were a little more bullish akin to their NBA counterparts. 1st round picks seem to be way over valued in the league except when its for top end talent, they rather trade for some 2nd line tweener and pick. CBJ did that for Nash, Buf did that in the O'Reilly trade, Stone trade (imagine had Ottawa just asked for a boat load of picks rather than 1 prospect) I mean we saw with Nonis + Gillis, 7 years of no impact 1st,2nd and 3rd round picks. If you think you have the core, go for it. For rebuilding teams, use those 1st rounders to trade for good players out of cap strapped teams. But yeah even with this many 1st rounders it wouldn't happen I understand. Though this year's first rounder is a lottery pick for the Canucks (Demko i love the guy but he cant play bubble demko all year).
Some where in between MLB GMs who trade boat loads of prospects who most times not end up being busts for the receiving team, and NBA pick happy trading teams. The NHL GMs are just not creative or open to a lot of contions/picks.

Cup Contenders Next Year
Peety aint taking 4years @$7M, if we get either Peety or Hughes on a short term its, 2 years or 1 year. In the case of Peety, he at worse gets 2 years @ $7.5M. I can see Hughes, getting a bridge like Boeser where the final year ramps up due to qualifying offer. For the team and both of them, if they can take 2 year deals at $7M, the flat cap will be lifted with fans + new TV contract. It makes sense for both of them to go short term bridge deals. But their AAV still going to be~$7M-$8M.
Also, how did you suppose Loui going on LITR, hes not hurt, maybe just emotionally he is.
