Happy playoffs for those who celebrini
As much as I'd love to see it, I don't think DAL would give up 2 first round picks for Jones. I think Davidson might take whatever return he could to get him out of Chicago, where he clearly doesn't want to be. Dallas is a place he definitely would waive to go as well.

I'm not saying they wouldn't retain a little, but I can't see them having the full $2.2M in dead cap over each of the next 2 years just to move Murphy.

Tyler Johnson is definitely getting moved and the Hawks will probably retain half to get the best return. It's really just a matter of who wants him for a playoff run.
I don't think they want to retain any salary in a Murphy trade, but I do believe Davidson would move him if the right deal came along.

Chicago passes. They have a gluttony of left defensemen in their system already and a 3rd rounder in this years draft probably doesn't appeal to them when they have three 2nds and two 3rds already.

Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>It really isn't, though. They aren't tanking, they are rebuilding. There is a difference. KD has preached patience and wants any progress to happen from within, through drafting and development. Any outside additions will more than likely be supplementary and short term. He has adamantly and emphatically stated as much multiple times since taking over as GM. Maybe when the kids are in their second contracts and the team overall is a lot closer to being ready to contend, they look to free agency and trade availability, but that almost certainly won't be for a few more years.
Most UFA's over the next two summers will be in their early to mid 30's by the time this team is ready. KD doesn't want contracts with a high potential of becoming boat anchors, to be on the books when this team is ready to contend again.</div></div>
Semantics. Yes, they're rebuilding, and Davidson also intentionally assembled a roster he knew would be bad enough to have them in the running for the 1st overall pick again, which a lot of people would call tanking. Davidson easily could have accelerated his timeline once Bedard was drafted, but he has remained patient knowing that building the prospect pool is priority #1. Having 2 first round picks in 3 straight drafts should help that.
You're right in that any move he makes this offseason will be with an eye on Bedard (and even Korchinski) needing a contract extension in 2026. I could see him potentially paying over market value for guys on a 1 or 2 year deal just because of all the cap space he needs to fill until then.

They have to spend. They're $30M under the cap floor for next season. None of the current players with expiring deals are in line for a major raise, so they have to break out the checkbook in free agency.

I figured Grzelcyk and Forbort being free agents would have Boston looking for a right D with some term left. Like you said, possibly a sweetener would be involved depending on how bad they need to move Ullmark after Swayman's new deal.

If the Hawks win the lottery again and land Celebrini, there's zero need to acquire Petterson. He slots right into the 2nd line center spot behind Bedard.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>Quite the opposite. He is their best veteran defensive defenseman, he eats tons of minutes, he is a consummate pro, a leader on and off the ice, an RHD, and CHI's longest tenured player. Sure his stat line tells a different story, but he is a good defenseman that they are in no rush to move, and likely wouldn't do it without a very good package coming back. It's not his fault CHI is the worst roster in the league and he has to babysit defensive liabilities every night.</div></div>
No, he's bad. He's always been bad. It just used to be easier for them to hide his deficiencies on better rosters. Bowman was dumb to acquire him in 2017, and he was dumb to extend him in 2021. He won't be of any use to the organization by the time they're ready to compete. A first rounder for him would be plenty.

I think Chicago would jump on the chance to unload Murphy ASAP. Getting Liljegren back to fill his spot plus a 1st rounder would be a deal they couldn't pass up. Murphy just seems lost out there. I don't know if it's trying to help bring along younger defensemen this season, but his play has been atrocious. Maybe a change of scenery to a contending team would spark him.

I think if Davidson could have moved Jones already, he would have. He's already moved on from as many Stan acquisitions as possible. I get that the cap is going up and his money won't be a major issue, but he's still a problem. He's a 2nd pair D-man on good team. They're this bad with him so what does it matter if they dump him?

Lots of Moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Aussie_Blackhawk</b></div><div>please take this the right way but do you actually support CHI or follow the team?
Some of the moves here are just plain no good for CHI. In no way should we be taking on additional cap and moving our top young player. KD has already confirmed he doesn't want unnecessary cap so this proposal is contrary to whats been announced.
CHI underselling CAT is also something that goes against what KD has proven to date. He didn't want to ship Hagel though got an offer he couldn't refuse. As much as I like CGY, this isn't the move and they cannot afford if they resign Chuky and Johnny.
Kurashev for a 6th! Another quality player u23 on a rebuilding team who's proven he can play in the NHL as a Bottom 6/Middle 6 in most situations is worth far more to us than a 6th.
Overall, most of these moves favour the other team and quite heavily. We need to turn a page, Stan isn't the GM anymore. If he was still in place, these sort of moves could occur (albeit still bad)</div></div>
Season ticket holder
I’m unloading Stan’s garbage so that they can start fresh. Kurashev’s grow on trees in this league.
It says in the description that this is based off of Gaudreau leaving Calgary and signing in Philly.
The only reason they got 2 firsts for Hagel was because of his cap hit. Obviously DeBrincat is a more skilled player than Hagel, but that doesn’t always mean you get more for him in a trade.

I was looking at it from a cost perspective with Montreal. I could have gone with Hoffman or Dvorak instead, but I just like Anderson's game best, and I think most teams would pick him out of those 3 choices.

Dach is looking more and more like a winger with his struggles at the faceoff dot.

Zary and Coronato are closer to being NHL ready and are less of a gamble than who they could possibly pick 2nd overall. Look at what happened with Dach at #3 overall
