Can you expand on this a bit more? I'm confused as to why the Rangers would prefer a prospect that while is good...you've got good LWers already. Is Othmann not any good in your mind? What's the best D prospect in the Rangers system?

Hawks aren't giving up Nolan Allan AND 2 draft picks for underachieving Lafrenierre.

It's gonna take a lot more than that to get Laf cause the Rangers aren't interested in trading him. Throw in Nazar or Reichel and you'll have their attention. Otherwise they don't have a reason to trade him.

You can say that it's not fair value and of course it isn't, but if you want someone a team isn't shopping you're gonna have to overpay.

Also you're wrong that NYR need LD prospects. They have Jones and Robertson in their pipeline. They don't need RD prospects either.

Rangers are already letting Jones and Robertson sit in Hartford due to their D depth already. Allan would suffer that same fate

Rangers are already letting Robertson and Jones (top 2 D prospects for NYR) sit in the minors and not play for the likes of Gustafson, Nemeth, Mikkola, etc. Getting Allan would be just adding to that logjam and wouldn’t help this team. If we’re trading lafreniere we need a piece with high end potential like a Reichel who would simply replace Lafreniere and get a potential top 20 pick is pretty much the best they can get for Laf.

As for the LW logjam, Othmann likely plays RW anyway so this would work. Rangers would also have to trade one of Kreider or Panarin down the line for cap issues regardless so it certainly fits imo.

They have Jones, Robertson and even Emberson looks decent in the AHL. If Jones doesn’t beat out Gustaffson then they’ll probably trade him for a pick or waiver exempt player

Kandre and Lindgren are their top 2 LD so they don’t need to trade Laffy to find a bottom pair defenseman

I wouldn't let him go for a 2nd. I'd find a team to dump Goodrow too, even if it costs a 1st to dump him. Then match.

At the end of the day though offer sheets are very rare and if he is offer sheeted I don't expect it to be for less than 5m.

I am just not THIS big of a fan of Laf. Pass for this Hawk fan and don't try to take a short cut in rebuilding...use those picks instead and keep building.

I would see if you could get a 3 or 4 year deal at 4.2 on an offersheet though as I am still a little miffed at the return paid for Kane and would like to return the over a barrel favor to the NYR's.
