Thoughts or Opinions
Even as a Ducks fan, kind of weak IMO for a player of Tkachuk's calibre. Literally the definition of a modern-era power forward that everyone seems to desire.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Traptor</b></div><div>Not a fan of it as a flames fan. This is a quanitity over quality offer. Chucky is on pace for 99 points 24 and plays a sand paper game. He's an elite player. Flames would want elite talent back.
Assuming zegras and drysdale are off limits, I would want one of troy terry or mctavish coming back or atleast zellweger.
If flames HAD to trade Chuky they should try and find a deal like the PLD for Laine trade.</div></div>
I think Mctavish is a must add, or at least what who Treliving will demand. Not sure I'd add a 1st on top of that, but McT + 2 x 2nd + one of the prospect listed above? Sounds like a steep price given that CGY only moves him if they can't re-sign him, but I'm a big fan of character players like Tkachuk. Kids built for the playoffs.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>I'm hoping that Sonny Milano and Simon Benoit continue their development and that we'd hang onto them.</div></div>
I'm totally open to that. I feel Milano is kind of riding Zegras and that chemistry. I'd be cautious with him and his next contract, but I'm totally open to him stepping up and becoming a staple for us. As far as Benoit, I've been a big fan of his since he was first called. Tbh, I never understood how Larson was getting the call above him. He's a big body who isn't afraid to throw it around.
Anyway, we'll need veterans and I'm sure we'll add them in some how. Just illustrating what I believe GMPV's plan is i.e. tank for Bedard, and what a beast line-up that would be. Could be a dynasty in the making.

What does a Chychurn trade look like
Awful. ARI can request 4 X 1sts for Chychrun. That doesn't mean they'll get it. Kids getting overrated IMO. He's not a #1D and not worthy of that return, at least not to ANA, who doesn't care about the cost-control. I'd do something similar to what Lindholm got and that about it.
Not giving up our 2023 1st. This team will be in the Bedard sweepstakes and Chychrun isn't going to change that.

Based on what he's done so far, I firmly believe GMPV is all-in tank for Bedard mode. That said, I very much doubt he's going to sign any big name players next season, not that I think any will want to come to ANA anyway. Personally, I very much see him continuing to leverage our free cap to acquire more prospects and picks and to get us to the cap floor. That may even involve moving Gibson at the draft. IMO, next year will be brutal, but, if successful in nabbing a top 10 prospect this year (David Jiricek would be awesome) and Bedard or Michkov next year, we should expect some level or improvement in the 2023-24 season.

I like most of the deals, especially locking in Isac Lundestrom long term. He's really coming into his own as a two-way 3C. Unfortunately, we'll need to take on some cap to hit the cap floor.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PaulieWalnuts</b></div><div>Not enough 2nd rd picks!
On a serious note, that seems like giving way too much up for Gibson, looks like he's really fallen off the last few seasons.
At the same time, I'm a big believer in Blackwood and think he has a ton of room to grow.
Adding Zacha, Foote and possibly a high 2nd on top of that makes this quite a bad deal for Devils imo.
Really hope GMTF wouldn't go through with something like this.</div></div>
In terms of ability, Gibson really is a top 5 GT in the league. He just gets ground down every year from the heavy losses and gives up trying. Is that the right attitude? No. Is it a player that you'd want on a non-contender, probably not. For that reason, I say NJ isn't the right partner. Gibby needs to be with a team that is contending for a cup. TOR makes a lot of sense. VGK too. Not sure if there is a deal for there for either of those teams due to their cap issues. MIN could also work. Personally, I'd want a 1st if we are moving him, but, realistically, I think the only way that happens is if we take back a substantial cap dump to facilitate the deal.

Try Again Next Year
I like most the deals you've presented. However, I'm not sure I'd give Milano that kind of contract. Money is fine, but the term is too long. 2-3 years would be preferable. I don't expect him to be in our top 6 as we become increasingly competitive. The Lundestrom contract also seems steep at this point in his career too. 1.5-2M max for me. Not sure I'd take Manson back either. His play has declined significantly over the years. I'm ready to move with a new core, even if means we suck for a little while.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jwg314</b></div><div>PHI and CGY top that offer for Gaudreau, I think no shot. He only maybe takes that with an 8-year term.</div></div>

Depends what evidence you want. Eye-test? Chychrun is absolutely more well-rounded and he's actually good offensively. Hampus has never been great offensively, but he's been worse this season. His defensive game has also been rather poor this season. Not horrible but considerably worse than before. Hampus is still a Top 4 D-man but not an elite shutdown player. The following isn't his fault, but the fact that he's on the PP as much, while being bad at it, doesn't help his case. Chychrun doesn't have to be elite in one area (Hampus isn't either at the moment) because he's good at almost everything and if he's on a good team, those areas will be really good again, I'm confident of it.</div></div>
Fair enough. Appreciate hearing your opinion on both players.

Ducks Deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TZ11</b></div><div>No, why would ARI add? For one, <strong>Lindholm's a UFA and will likely not re-sign there</strong>. Then, Chychrun is the better player, coming from a Ducks fan. Not having the best season, but look at his team and you'll realise that not many would be a true #1 D-man on that team. He is also on a bargain of a contract. Not a chance the Coyotes add.</div></div>
If that is the case then why would they be interested in Lindholm anyway? They're not a playoff team so the deal is basically for Larson + 1st + 2nd. In that case, I agree the deal is a little light (for what I think is a top 4 D-man). Having said that, we could move Lindholm to a team that will actually benefit from him and who may even sign him and get more value in return.
As far as Chychrun being the better player, have you got any evidence to support that? I'm asking this in the most unconfrontational way possible. I am totally open-minded to him being the better player. I just haven't seen it in what I've seen of him this season (a handful of games). My assessment would be that he's a high IQ player with a more well-rounded game than Lindholm and can play big minutes, but isn't elite in any one area and isn't particularly physical either. Hence, I question his top pairing potential. He also plays quite stiff and low energy, perhaps because of the big minutes he's doing/being forced to play. Anyway, that is just my opinion. Would love to add him to the team, but wouldn't want to sacrifice the elite shutdown skills that Lindholm brings in the process. Personally, I think losing Lindholm would be devastating for the team. He and Drysdale seem to have a working partnership and compliment each other in terms of their skillsets. However, happy to hear your opinion.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>No, but I suspect that you might momentarily have forgotten that Hampus is a UFA. Larsson looks to me like a bust, so this trade is Chychrun for a first and second (the premise being that we can't re-sign Hampus).
If Hampus had three seasons left on his deal, I wouldn't trade him for Chychrun.</div></div>
Again, based on Hampus being basically of no value to ARI, I agree we fleece ARI in that deal. However, IMO, ARI would be getting the best player in the deal. Of course, that means nothing if he doesn't re-sign, so I now completely understand your position.
I think the UFA status is getting overplayed personally. Any team acquiring a pending UFA with the abilities that Lindholm has is certainly going into it with (a) an understanding of Lindholm's contract wants, and (b) a strong indication that he'll re-sign. After all, it would be in Verbeek's interest to get that information across to an potential buyers to increase his value. So the value decline is just the risk that something awful happens and they either can't afford him or, in the 3 months he's with his new team, Lindholm decides he hates it and wants leaves. I think both are pretty low in terms of likelihood and so I don't buy into the narrative that Lindholm is only worth a late 1st + B prospect because he's a pending UFA. If he is moved, I'll be expecting a solid package in return. However, my preference is to re-sign him, even if we end up giving him that 8th year.

Rakell deal is awful for us. DeBrusk is equally as inconsistent as Rakell, but a weaker performer. The value difference between RFA vs UFA here is small, certainly not enough to have ANA adding to the deal. I'm fine with DeBrusk as a stop gap in a Rakell deal, but there better be at least a 1st coming with him or we'll look elsewhere.
The Lindholm deal is also bad for us. Anything involving our 1st is terrible.
PHI deal is awful for them. TK is a top tier talent and shouldn't be traded for picks and bubble players.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Well, if you ask me, we're robbing all three teams blind. The Chychrun deal is particularly awful for them, and investing a 2023 first-round pick (which won't turn into an NHL player until 2025, in all likelihood) to get a guy with Konecny's term would be one of the great GM moves in Anaheim history.</div></div>
Genuinely interested on your thoughts of Chychrun. Personally, I think he's getting over-hyped. From what I've seen of him this year, he's still the same top 4 D-man of previous years. A solid all-rounder who can play both sides of the pucks, but who isn't particularly physical. IMO, Lindholm is significantly better, especially on the defensive side of the puck. I wouldn't add to Lindholm for anyone who isn't an out-and-out #1C or #1D under 25 years old. Chychrun is younger and a good option for us if Lindholm wants out. Having said that, I'd expect the additions (if any) to be from ARI, not us. Am I missing something with Chychrun?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ON3M4N</b></div><div>Not funny at all, I use the 3 pervious season frequently because I feel like it gives the best snapshot of how a player is performing currently and not 5,6,7,8,9,10 years ago. DeBrusk the last few years has been awful production wise, which is part of the reason he was demoted to the bottom 6 and also why he had asked for a trade earlier this season. Yes Rakell had a few 30+ goal season 5/6 seasons ago. Those two season btw also happen to be his two best seasons from a shooting% standpoint. Funny that you call me out for using the last 3 years when the team was bad, but you want to use his two best seasons to show he's a better performer than DeBrusk.</div></div>
He's a better performer based on your numbers as well... Lol. Also, you're dumping on DeBrusk, but then saying Rakell is no better. Rakell best seasons may have been 4-5 years ago now, but he still had them and DeBrusk hasn't. It still proves his capacity to have those high scoring seasons. Anyway, not going to waste anymore time trying to persuade you that Rakell is an upgrade on DeBrusk. He is and I'm confident most neutrals would agree. The question should really be what would the cost of that upgrade be, considering contracts, retention, etc. IMO, I think the deal above is fair, but you are of course welcome to disagree.

Yeah, because a deal for Lindholm will only involve TOR and ANA right? I mean, its not like he's a desirable talent playing a position of need for many teams in the league. Are you serious?
Your offer would get quickly turned down and we'll speak to other teams regarding Lindholm... or, what is more likely, is we'll just re-sign him (he's playing hard ball with ANA, as he should, to maximise his contract. ANA has a history of low-balling RFAs under GMBM, but Lindholm is worth every penny of $8m per year and I hope Pat Verbeek sees that. Term could be a sticking point, but I'd suck it up and give him the 8 years if he demanded it).
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ON3M4N</b></div><div>You think so? Seems meh to me in all honesty.
Last 3 seasons
DeBrusk - 0.45 PGP
Rakell - 0.58 PGP
^The difference in production over 82 games is about 10 points. That's a 10pt difference with DeBrusk being pretty meh the last 3 seasons, playing mostly with bottom 6 guys and getting little PP time. Rakell obviously a pending UFA while DeBrusk is a pending RFA. DeBrusk over the last 3 years has 3 less goals in 9 less games and roughly 4 years younger. Not saying I wouldn't take Rakell, in fact I think he'd do well with Begeron & Marchand. I just wouldn't give up much more than DeBrusk for Rakell. So that leaves a 1st + Moore for Steel, which is an awful swap for Boston. We have enough bottom 6 forwards and Moore isn't stopping the team cap wise from making a move.</div></div>
Funny how you picked the last 3 years, basically when ANA sucked and BOS didn't. I appreciate that DeBrusk has gotten worse minutes than Rakell over recent years, but Rakell thrived on a winning team when he had a good version of Getzlaf (or Bergeron and Marchand perhaps) giving him time and space. I'm not saying Rakell is a superstar player or anything. In fact, he's pretty much to definition of a complimentary winger. However, I think he and DeBrusk are very similar (inconsistent scorers who are poor off the puck), but Rakell is a better performer (as demonstrated by his 2 x 30+ goal seasons) and has the ability to go full god-mode the way DeBrusk doesn't.
All that said, I think Rakell would be an excellent upgrade on DeBrusk. Something BOS should be looking to do going into a playoff run looking to go deep. Not trying to suggest the deal presented is good for you (it certainly would work for me). Just fighting from Rakell's corner.

Sadly, outside of Lundell, I don't think FLA has a prospect I'd take for Lindholm. IMO, Anaheim needs less quantity and more quality pieces coming back, even if that means downgrading 1sts to 2nds and/or taking back salary. That said, if Lindholm was to force his way out, I'd take the deal you've presented.
