<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>nics6ix</b></div><div>On this site, there are about 50% of the people like you and I who believe that the Leafs actually have good young man they have to trust in, and the other half of the site saying the Leafs defence is the worst in NHL history and they will back that up until they die. There is no in-between</div></div>

Much like everything in this day and age. You have to pick a side and if you don't pick a side, both sides hate you more than they hate the other side. Its ridiculous. In my opinion I just don't see the need to go crazy. Obviously if you can get a good deal that makes sense, pull the trigger but I am not sure that is anywhere to be had. I also think that under Keefe, the Leafs system was finally getting better for the team we have. Yeah there were still mistakes but anyone who watched them over the last 20 games or so, and knows how hockey works, defensively they were much improved. The way I saw it, under Babs they had a system of pressure everyone all the time and it led to defensive breakdowns all the time. Way too much space to operate for opposing teams and when they cycled around the offensive zone, eventually they'd get a wideopen shot from the slot. Under Keefe the team just collapses to the net to take that area away. It took a while for them to all buy in but they did. However, they did create problems for themselves by turning the puck over in the offensive zone resulting in odd man rushed in opposite direction. When they didn't do that, they often gave teams almost nothing offensively. I think they will continue to learn that sometimes, its smarter to just throw it deep and regroup. Protect the slot and let teams fire away from outside. When you regain possession go back and do what you do. Once they master that on a consistent basis, this team is scary good.
