Sens D moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Augustus</b></div><div>Would Detroit exchange Maatta and the 16th overall pick in the 2024 draft to acquire Jakob Chychrun? I think possibly. Getting another 1st round pick will help ease the sting of the Senators having to give one up probably in 2026, for the Dadonov trade debacle.
The second part of this is that, since the Kings may not be able to afford him, the Senators push hard to sign Matt Roy.
Ott:
Sanderson - Zub
Chabot - <em>Roy</em>
<em>Maatta</em> - Bernard-Docker
Det:
Walman - Seider
<em>Chychrun</em> - Petry
Edvinsson - Chiarot</div></div>
No, the 16th pick is needed to add a wing prospect or to be a trade chip for an upgrade to a position of need (RHD/2C/TOP6W).
Roy on the other hand, makes a lot of sense for the Wings to try and snag in UFA without the cost of pick 15/16.

We just traded away Okposo, who was our Captain
Why would we wanna bring in ANOTHER old, declining, expensive bottom6 forward ?
Rhetorical question
We wouldn’t

Anderson cap dump
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>People think of a "cap dump" as a player with a high cap hit who's no longer worth that amount. That's incorrect . . . or, at least, incomplete. The definition of a "cap hit" is a player who is no longer worth his cap hit <strong>which is a burden to his team because it brings them too close to the cap ceiling</strong>. You have $20 million in cap space here and plenty of open roster slots, so Anderson isn't a burden that way, either. I think that it's foolish to expend resources getting rid of a contract which may be a visual annoyance but is little more. Even buying him out is preferable to this, no matter what the cost is.
I've had this discussion previously with Habs fans who say But we need the cap space that would be taken up by Anderson's buyout down the line 2, 3, 4 seasons from now to re-sign x, y or z. I think you can afford to wait to cross that bridge when, and if, you get there.</div></div>
a man with logic, not too many of them around here.

Leafs 2023 2024 Season Discussion Part 6 - Nearly Playoffs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>fangm</b></div><div>Yea, no reason to spend upfront. Money should be going to the D core.
McMann, Robertson, Holmberg, Knies and maybe Minten can fill key roles.
I'd also move Kampf and Jarnkrok, with the cap going up both should have some value.</div></div>
0 need to move either
Kampf value is borderline capdump if they want to trade. Look what Van had to give to move Dickinson. Since we got Dewar hes been better and whether Reaves plays or someone else been happy with the second half 4th line. Jarnkrok when healthy is useful can play everywhere and we need guys like that.
Cant just be all kids in the lineup need veterans to in order to fill some roles. Otherwise other issues arise

Flyers turn Necas into a center
If TK had term, yes, there's a deal here somewhere. But he's a rental. He'd need to come with a reasonable extension. Either that, or start somewhere else. Also, if Rod hates him as a center, Torts may kill him

Far too much from NJ. Siegs is a top 4 D, mix in our 1B goalie (who actually was fine to finish the year), and then a load of picks.

I don’t see SENs getting near that much for chycrun - he’s pending LHD UFA. The Leafs (like a lot of teams) will go the FA route to address their priority need, which is RHD . Makes no sense to give up assets in off season - maybe at next year’s TDL

Andrew Dubas fixed penguins
Don't see any reason for the oilers to give up their number 1 defenseman who got more points than Karlsson this year with his enormous contract when they have already screwed themselves with nurse's contract. the only positive is giving up Campbell's contract but with a trade like that I would much rather buy out Campbell or package Campbell with prospects and picks instead of this trade. Also McLeod slots into the Oilers style of play very nicely with his fast skating and reasonable contract.

Blockbuster
If Chychrun was an RHD and had more term on a good value contract, the Jets may look at it. As it stands its too much to give up for an LHD to play behind Morrissey for a year and too big a contract for a 2C, that can't stay healthy.
The Jets aren't moving a high 2nd for a declining bottom pair RHD with a bad contract.
