Agreed, but Ottawa got him for a 1st (Korchinski), 2nd and 3rd. In my books, a 2023 first+Bokk is a better package but it's subjective.

Boston won't retain on Smith, they can't trade for Gavrikov because they're capstruct. Boston will pay another team to retain some salary on Smith.

ok it could be any team interested in Smith, I took EDM as an exemple.
Also, if EDM waives Puljujarvi it would give them some relief.

Unfortunately Barbashev just isn't the type of player you move a 1st and your top prospect for. Seems most teams wont move their top prospects at all. (NYI seems to be an exception seeing Horvat as a long term fit). I'd say Bostons first is rational for Barbashev, given their lack of 2nds.</div></div>
I agree with you for Barbashev's value
For Reilly, Minny got a 4th for retaining 1,8 millions on O'Reilly for 30 games. 3 millions for another year would cost a bit more than a 3rd I think.

I don't know.
1-Barbashev extended would take Lysell's spot.
2-They need more value since they are dumping Reilly but they don't have a second rounder

Maybe I'm too nostalgic haha. I remember his goal when he went 1 on 5 against the Leafs in game 7. What a beauty hahaha

I think you don't understand... the Panthers HAVE to trade him (or Bennet or Reinhart) to be cap compliant and teams know it. Maybe there will be a small bidding war but teams aren't gonna give up much when they know they have advantage on the poor cap management of the Panthers.

I doubt Florida trades Duclair to Boston. Also, they have no choice but to get rid of him so if you play harder, you can get him for less than a 3rd.
I'd rather have Forbort than Gostisbehere in the lineup, way more useful defensively.
I'm keeping Smith, he is a useful depth piece.

Schenn is much more useful than Reilly is to this team plus he is a RD wich fills a hole for us. We don't need our first. Plus we get a young D who has yet to prove himself. I'd take that chance.

he gets his ass carried by McAvoy that's why that pair is good. Put Grzelcyk with Carlo and he will struggle immediately

With the prospect pool Boston has, not drafting in the first 2 round for 2 consecutive years would be rough.

A big improvement. Grzelcyk is fine, but Chychrun is way better than him for almost the same cap hit.
