My initial thought would be Coots to the avs as the 2nd center, but couldn't think how to get it to work as we would not be retaining any salary and the return would be more. Yes I know you'll probably come back with Coots has not played all year and been injured, but Coots behind MacKinnon would probably be the best 2C I can see the avs getting less than 8m, but again I just couldn't think i could get the salary and return right

I love this team!!! We have loads of room to get JT now but it does make me consider 'are we wrecking the future in 4-5yrs time by signing JT now'. That top 6 is so lethal really don't know which is the top line and already having 2 top 6 on the 3rd line with potential of a 3 top 6 on 3rd line is rediculars but that is the situation hexy has put this team in. And im more than happy to have that conundrum.
We would be contenders from next season to the next decade at least
Sign him up now!!!

Why hasn't Stone already resigned if he's so happy in the city?? There must be a good reason for it as Ott where expecting to have a really good season. so you would think he would have signed on July 1st or at least last off-season and not gone into this season not knowing!! Maybe he's had a change of mind

I don't see why Stone would want to stay in Ott, clearly beginning the start of a big rebuild like the rangers.
I would happily add Weal, Phillys 1st this year (as long as we get STL 1st) and leberge in the trade although I do think that's a bit steep, plus they'll be able to at least a 1st in 19 and prospect for Simmonds next yr. That is a pretty big haul.

Kane
I like this a lot!! I see why Buf want more and rightly so we would say no to that trade if it was for Simmonds, got to pay the same price for Kane as we would expect for Simmonds so here is my counter offer:
Kane to Philly for Weal, leberge, 2018 1st round pick and 2019 3rd round pick (becomes 2nd round if kane resigns).
I would then trade Filppula to a contender wanting depth down the middle possibly 50% retained for highest pick possible maybe a 2nd in 18 and 4th in 19.
Call up Lindblom for 3rd line LW and move Raffl to center

There's plenty to go around I think we have more than enough to sign those mentioned as Weal, Raffl and at least one of the goalies will be coming off the books creating 5-5.5mill to add to the 10-11mill totalling 15-16.5 to resign key pieces. That's 2-2.5 to Simmonds, 3-3.5 to TK and 4.5-5.5 to Provy should have bout 5 mill spare after that.

Good to see most of you agree, i would be willing to add an extra mill on top to get Kane as flyers will have a fair bit of cap space come next year. I do think Hexy will spend some (not all the spare cap) as it shows we are nearing to become a regular post season team again and start contending for the cup once more.

ANA/DET?
I really like this team but agree with what others say, don't need to send DET both of Cousins and Leier just one will do. Would love Perry on the flyers but would hexy do it? Would Ana do it? Who knows? I think hexy would keep Jake just because of the age difference and when flyers will be contending Voracek will be the age Perry is now.
A trade I'd be looking to make before the expansion is adding a Dman who will be worth using that 3rd protection spot on, but who and what we trade to get that I don't know, cos as we know no-one is taking MacDonald and would need to add a lot if we were to move manning for someone worth protecting

DRW - Trade Feeler (DAL, PHI, WPG)
I say no as a flyers fan, I don't think the value is bad just the wrong way round (in terms of moving a prospect Dman to a young forward out of phi) and I'd be reluctant to do this without getting a full season from Morin in the NHL to see what he can do on the big stage and I think the drop down in draft pick I to much as its nearly 50 places. If the pick could be moved to a low 2nd or high 3rd (no bigger that a 25-30 place drop) swap Morin for manning and upgrade read for cousins/raffl, you got yourself a deal

Assuming Nico Hischier goes 1st Overall Jets trade for 2nd Overall pick
If Patrick is left by NJ there is no chance flyers trade the pick. I and I'm sure plenty others see Patrick as a top 5 forward in the NHL in the next 5-10 years. For a team that is building to be a top contender in that time frame the pick is pretty much untradeable. I think Hexy will be looking to get a Dman like Trouba and a top line forward prospect like Ehlers plus your fist round pick and we add Hagg. Nobody will offer that so this is a dead proposal!!
But if Hischier is left at 2nd overall the talks will be different!

Min trade before expansion draft
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FrodoBeggins</b></div><div>No from Wild/ I see no reason for savages in this exchange</div></div>
My thinking behind it is MIN would want to create an extra protection spot by moving pominville and getting simmonds would nicely fill that spot plus hes a great leader. Loosing simmonds means he needs to be replaced which is where Nino comes into it. Philly only have 2 dmen worth protecting so gaining a Dman would be good and Scandella was MIN 5th dman in TOI last season so still get to keep there top 4. Cousins and weal fill the gap from the departing pominville and can afford to loose one via expansion and manning will be able to be exposed and play 3rd pair mins if not taken.
Cap will have to be retained on pominville as Philly are receiving twice as much cap they are giving up.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ON3M4N</b></div><div>I don't understand why you'd sign Weal and then trade him lol. If that's the intention, he wouldn't sign with PHI and would pick is next team.</div></div>
I just signed weal to show a rough guild of cap coming and go in, if we are to resign him. Plus it seemed easier and quicker to sign him than write (rights to weal) lol

All The Rookies
This is very much the team I see at the start of the 17/18 season baring a couple moves, firstly I'd switch TK and Lindblom round, mostly to give G 2 big wingers and give the 3rd line a bit of creativity, but let's be honest the lines will change numerous times throughout the year. 2nd I don't see 3 rookies starting on D. I think Cousins/Raffl + manning + 3rd/4th 2017 round pick will be moved for a Dman before the expansion who will become our 3rd Dman protected behind Ghost and Gudas. Add Provy to that list it leaves you with 2 D spaces to fill with the rookies and the 7th will be Amac.
That means players left unprotected are:
Cousins/Raffl, Read, Weise, Bellemere, Laughton, Amac and Neuvirth
I also see laughts getting the last protection spot if they agree a post expansion contract with Weal so they dont have to protect him and can protect someone else.
After that I don't care who Vegas pick lol!!!

Blow up the core
I think the retained salary is important as I don't think G will be moved otherwise and 7m cap is fair. I know there's only 600k difference in retined salary for the first 2 yrs but it really kicks in after pominville contract is up and G still has 3 year left on his.
JT is my preferred option but could quite happily do something with either Col for Duchene or Edm for RNH but the pieces going to those teams would be different.
As for Jake nobody is taking on him and his contract at the moment and if they do they'll be looking at a deal involving 30-50% of his cap retained, which in my eyes is to much and will be better of trying him with some brand new linemates and one's that are snipers and can put the puck in the back of the net.
Would be good to hear what MIN fans think of the trade

I'm not buying anyone out it's pointless given as you say we are not contenders or struggling for cap space! Tavares is a guy who can put up point any which way, he is a proven goalscorer and playmaker, and with voracek on his wing he could hit the 40 goal mark and help improve konecny's game and get him to 50 points sooner rather than later. Granted the contract might be a bit long, how bout I change it from 8 to 6 year but increase to 9.2mil

I know what your sayin but was more concentrating on the G trade and what we could get out of it and how to regain a 1st line centre
The season after (19/20) I would expect Lindblom and Rubtsov to be fully top 6 players and point producers, pushing coots back to his 3c spot. I would expect chlapik to be pushing for top 6 mins as well. Plus whoever we draft with the 17' and 2x 18' 1st round picks i would expect at least 2 to be forwards and at least 1 pure goalscorer in there. That would be the depth.
What do you think of the trades are they fair?

You'd be better taking Hudson out of the trade retaining on Giroux and adding a 2nd or 3rd round pick from Philly.
And there's absolutely no reason to buyout MacDonald, yes he is bad a yes I don't want him on the team either but I also don't want to be handicapped paying him his 1.83mil for 6 years, we have room to carry his contract for 2 years at least and we can always send him to the minors saving 1mil in cap space</div></div>
Agreed on the AMAC analysis. As bad as they think he is, he really isn't <em>that </em>bad. He's just over paid. Posters do this all the time with players they don't actually know that well. There is a difference between being a bad player and being an over paid player.
AMAC has shown he's able to play tougher minutes and bigger roles with the team. Forget the 5M cap hit and just evaluate the player. He'd be in your top 6 at least. If you think you can have 3 rookies and 1 sophomore in your lineup and not get blown out from time to time you got something coming. Plus some contracts are just not worth buying out. Philly isn't winning a cup anytime soon. No point in jeopardizing future cap space when you might need it for the now when you don't really need it.</div></div>
Couldn't have said it better myself

You mean 1.83mil dead cap space for 6 years if you buyout MacDonald. Yes there are a couple players on this team that we would be better off without but we have the cap space to carry them for the next couple years wheather it'll be as a 13th forward or a 7th Dman while the youngsters are still on there ELC'S saving at least 2 years of dead cap space 4-6 years from now!
There won't be any buyouts this year or next year so please stop buying everyone out cos it won't happen!! We can always save 1mil in cap by sending them down to the minors.

That first line is terrible. However i think the MTL trade is probably fair but if we retain on Giroux and his cap is max 7mil to MTL I would expect an extra 1st round pick coming back as well. Yeah a top forward prospect would be good, but I don't see any top forward prospect in MTL's pool or AHL that projects to be top line player. The only forward I would want is Galchenyuk and don't see MTL giving him up and that would be a 1for1 trade again with cap retain on G but could MTL afford G on a 7mil cap with plekanec on 6mil Idk, that's when it get complicated.
