The difference between Garland and Zacha is more that ~ 10 draft spots in the third round

I understand with Schenn now, I thought you were saying he would refuse a trade there. I agree but he is good depth and his value in the trade is negligible.
Fiala not being on the team next year is why I think Miller makes sense. You lose Fiala due to the cap next year and your teams gets worse than it is today.
You add Miller, not only do you get much better today, he also offsets the loss of Fialas production come next year, meaning the team takes less of a step back.

I have no idea what you mean by Schenn won't play on Wild.
Anyway, Miller isn't a pure rental and provides a way for you to keep Fialas production (more) next year without sacrificing Dumba to do it.

Miller allegedly seeking 7x6
Even with Miller taking that this is effectively the same Canuck roster as this year expect we're probably looking at decline from OEL, Myers, Poolman, and Pearson.
The only way this system goes anywhere is with MASSIVE improvement from Pete, Quinn, Hog, Pod etc.
Changes need to be made regardless of if we can keep everyone otherwise we will be stuck as a middle 10 team forever

Oh I agree, that would be an overpay. Hence the issue I am having coming up with a proposal I think it's fair. It's there maybe another prospect you would be able to throw in to offset the difference between a 1st and the 2nd.
The other thing I could think of is it would be appealing if Ott took some of Vans dead cap space (Poolman, Dickinson, Myers) to offset the value difference.

Ideally I would want the second to be this year's first but with Ott that's not happening. It would be ideal if they could acquire someone else's to give to us.
The issue I have with a 2023 protected first is it's still pretty likely that gets bumped to 2024 which is a long time to wait to see a return.
Unless the protection on the 2023 was very loose (ie only top 3 protected)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Well, to begin with, I don't see LD as a position of priority for the Canucks. Both Hughes and OEL are signed through 2026-2027 (i.e., five more years), which would seem to put a damper on Zellweger's development chances. Meanwhile, Zellweger is our #1 LD prospect. (If Vancouver really does want an LD prospect, I'd feel fine about giving them Jackson LaCombe or Henry Thrun.) And I agree with you about the first and second, especially in the same draft year.
I think Vancouver might be interested more in forward help. My idea would be the 2022 first, Max Jones or Sam Steel, and perhaps another prospect, like maybe even Brayden Tracey (but not Jacob Perreault or Sasha Pastujov).</div></div>
I'm not a fan of Steel/Jones tbh. At their age I would be looking for more production.
A combination of the prospects listed would be more appealing

It's there another prospect you would think to replace him with?
I don't know if I would want the Canucks to move Boeser for just Zellweger +2nd (that's a lot of faith in one pprospect) or a first + second (your first will be too low for that imo)

I was wondering how Ducks fans would feel about that. Not sure on Z's value but he has looked impressive.
Would dropping the second make it better? Assuming the first will be in the early twenties/late teens

That's way too much for Garland. That's a top 10 pick and one of the best rookies in the game. Tbh I doubt you get one of those in a straight up swap for Garland
Then you also throw Zacha and a second in for lols.
Pearson adds almost no value

The entire <em>point</em> of acquiring him would be to play him between Fiala and Boldy.
Therefore it's asinine to even think about moving one of those two for Miller. It would defeat the entire purpose of getting him.</div></div>
Fiala coming back to the Canucks doesn't make sense for us either so idk what he was saying.

No, don't use nick foligno's trade because Toronto bid against themselves</div></div>
The trade hasn't happened because we're still way away from the deadline.
Coleman had the same term as Miller and went for a first + prospect. Goodrow was the same term and went for a first. Duchene had the same term as well.
I would expect a first, A prospect, and filler for Miller and imo the only A prospects the wild have are Rossi, Boldy, Addison.
I'm not saying he will 100% be traded, but if we can't get a similar return we're better off keeping him and exploring trading Boeser and/or Garland.

Miller >> Zucker, and it's not even close.
If you really want to straw man yesterday into lowering Miller's value that's fine - but it's just as easy to look at his WPG hattrick.

IIRC Eichel was rumoured as 3/4 first round assets and he got 3ish (depending how you value Tuch)
The Eichel situation also isn't remotely comparable to Miller's.
