how the team will go this year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>john_michael</b></div><div>Still a lot of work to do for Steve Yzerman to bring this team in the playoff. Hopefully, when McIsaac and Seider will jump in, the D will be solid with Hronek. Need more talent offensively but Zadina and Veleno is a good start.
Also, where is Cholowski ? Isn't he ready for fullt-time job ?</div></div>
I think Cholowski is read for NHL but I cant see the wings sitting both Daley and Ericsson to play Cholowski. Id expect Cholowski to be half way trough the year after trades. but D core looks bright. Im a big fan of Mcisaac. That's why I was saying if they choose to go 2 extra D and one extra forward they will probably have Cholo up.

Please we have one right hand shooter in the NHL and 0 in the AHL. Glendening which he usually plays centre. Right hand shoots completely over rated.... 2020 draft year will be getting a righty hopefully.

2019 Wings Opening Night
I would think Svech will be in the AHL being waiver exempt. Probably having Rass or Zadina make the team preferably Zadina. Flip Nielsen to 3c and Filppula to 2C seems like they are practicing that way. If Veleno plays well in the exhibition games there is a possibility he may play to. Should be an interesting couple games

They get a little extra wiggle room with Hyman and dermott on LTIR for 2 months and a 22 man roster. Will put them at cap

I do think V should make the team with how he looks but I feel they won’t have him play. If he makes the roster over Z the having V on the line with Hirose and AA would be a sweet line. Knocking Nielsen to 3C and Filppula to wing

Agree but last year at the end of the year when are the young guys were playing the D were better then all the old guys. I don’t think they have much to loose but I’d think bowey would play more then Kaski or Seider.

Then they can decide what to do with other players contracts next year. Wont happen until team can get relief from LTIR

end of year roster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TMarch</b></div><div>I think they are all reasonable except the Svech/Helm move. They'd only give up on Svech if he wasn't performing, and if he wasn't performing he wouldn't have a lot of value, and Helm doesn't have a lot of value on his own.</div></div>
I agree but I think Helm has some value especially adding more speed to an already fast team. Playing on the 3/4th line and PK during playoffs is worth having. I think for svech he will have a good year in the AHL but I don't think he is NHL ready and hes worth more If he plays better in the A then poorly in the N. Looking down the pipe I see Rass and Kuffner playing better then svech. I liked the way Kuffner was playing at the prospect tourney looked better then end of year last year. and Rass will be much better by end of year this year. Svech may be better the Erne come that time but I think it may be better to trade Svech and Helm for that or if Svech looks good maybe get torontos first from Carolina. 2 yrs down the road may be good once Filippula is done, to keep Svech and have a line of Kuff-Rass- Svech for 3rd line would be good. One year if they trade Erne but wont happen since they just picked him up.

Now that Kronwall is officially gone
I would say switch Svech out for hirose and that's more likely the line up. I would also say by the last 10 games hirose played along side AA and they played very well together, there's a good chance Blash, will switch Taco and Z throughout the year depending on how they play with AA.
Hirose is a great playmaker and would help with Ras' development

Woll was not the best goalie in the NCAA last year. Larsson had better stats then Woll.
I just don’t think it makes sense to get new hopefully goalies. Red wings are talking about Larsson being the start goalie next year. Then Eliasson will be when bernier is done

I was watching the development camp when it was going on. Detroit’s two top goalie prospects are Larsson and Jesper Eliasson both looked really good. I did think Eliasson looked better still 19 but in a couple years I can see him being the starter.
They have a lot of young prospects but goalies always take longer to develop. My guess is both Larsson on Eliasson will be the goalies once berniers contract is up.

zadina will probably start in the AHL to play on top line with veleno. Svechnikov will probably play on the team just because he would required clearing waivers. I can see either Ehn or Rass getting on but I like Rass better as hes a big body for PP. Allow ehn to be 2C in the A. But Hicketts is not ready for the NHL no one will pick him up on waivers. Cholo should make the team again to start year if the buyout or trade a D.

I don’t actually mind that trade. I would say retain 1.5 though. I see where your coming from to help both teams with cap. For picks I’d send a 3rd to Calgary with Calgary returning a 5th condition which could move to a 4th.

Kylington 2019</a>). The depth chart at LHD looks fine to me even if they don't get anyone right now and only make the move for a Daley or equivalent in the event of an injury.
Gio - Brodie
Hanifin - Hamonic
Kylington - Andersson
Davidson - Yelesin
Valiev</div></div>
Agree it’s unlikely but veteran depth would be nice for playoffs. Would love to see them past the first round. But a good option to wait until trade deadline.

Calgary has already commented that they will be looking outside the organization to fill the role. If they cant find anyone they will then use Kylington. They could sign one of them, I think daley is a little better then them but if Phaneuf would sign for a mill, then by all means bring him back. Also Daley has a salary this year at 2.2M. Detroit could look at throwing back a 5th as well but I don't think it would be needed

Both players are below Larks in talent and will. 5.75...even 6, over 8 years is a great deal for both AA and Mantha and the team for what they provide around the 25-30 goal range. Unless the both take massive steps this year and become 40 goal scorers, I don't see them getting 6.5 for 8 years.</div></div>
Most likely they will be short term deals. Around 5 years. You have to also consider contract are not based on team signing but at an NHL level. Since cap has increased players are asking for more. Just because Larkin is the best on the team doesn’t mean he will always be making the most. Most likely Mantha and AA will be above 6.5 assuming they have a decent year. I can see Burt not getting more then 4 or it will be short term because he may get moved out of top line next year. And his production will decrease.

Detroit doesn’t need Brodie. He’s really not good. He make way to many mistakes. We already have one that does that. If Detroit’s prospects work out by next year they will have a solid D core. Will take time for them but withHronek, cholo, mcisaac, kaski, Seidel, bowey. If they play to their potential they will be set for many years.

Also, if he can plant himself in front of the neet on the 2nd PP unit, he might be effective.</div></div>
Agree. It was posted before trade happened. Just figured it was going to be similar money. Neal should be able to be on with McDavid so he will do better. If they get Lucic on the first or second and changed calgs first line a bit separate more talent he could do better. Sticking Lucic on the third one won’t be any better.
