Kyrou is great but he's not nearly as complete a player as Tkachuk. I personally think thats about what it'd take to get him and I'd be all for it. He's already got 4, 20+ goal seasons. One of which 30+ and then there's everything else he brings. He'd be a perfect fit with Thomas.</div></div>
No, I absolutely would not. As good as he is, Matty is not two 1sts more valuable than Kyrou. That's nuts.
Besides, until he inks a new Flames deal, chances seem decent he could go UFA in <em>just over a year</em>. No need to overpay in trade when he could well come home for no acquisition cost if we can be a little patient. Or even less patient than that if the Flames know he won't re-sign and he becomes available a cut trade price.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PleaseBanMeForMyOwnGood</b></div><div>I highly doubt if this was offered that St Louis would say no. It's a clear win.</div></div>
I explained exactly why they'd say no. They're already concerned about finding a D upgrade on the left, so they obviously are not going to get rid of a 24-minute RD for something they don't need. But hey, you go ahead and imagine otherwise if it makes you feel better somehow.

Just an Idea - Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>buffdaddy</b></div><div>Have to factor that you're ditching Scandella's next two years, plus getting a solid middle 6 forward in Crouse who fits the Blues style. All that plus the fact Chyrchrun has a sweet contract and we can't afford both Thomas and Kyrou in a couple years. I don't want to see Thomas leave, but we have to address our top 4 D if we want to go anywhere in the playoffs.</div></div>
Thomas is a 22 year old playing all-situations 1c minutes and on pace for 60 assists despite the apparent lingering injury. That’s the player type who u trade under almost no circumstances.

The Blues have no need, want or use for Strome. The Rangers have loads of pieces that would do the trick, he ain't one of 'em.

Headed for boring
It's such an underwhelming deal for the Blues. Doug Armstrong said he's only gonna do a deal that will benefit the Blues this does not. So Blues hold onto Tarasenko and when his value pops right back up it's gonna cost you a pretty penny at that point.

Dude, that offer of yours is not even in the same galaxy. Thomas is nigh untouchable, and all you've done is throw a pile of aging cap dumps over for two excellent young talents, two high picks and a guy capable of getting back to being one of the top snipers in the league.

That's a misunderstanding. Scandella won't be protected, but my point is he won't actively tried to be dealt.

He’s a middle 6 forward who’s solid. You’d be crazy to pay him 5 mill tho. Also Hyman is on cloud 9. I wouldn’t pay Hyman more than 4.5 mill.

Isles have already passed on Mark Stone for Dobson, no way Lou deals Dobson for a forward with way more question marks than Stone. If the Isles miss out on Tarasenko, it’s not the end of the world, they’ll still compete and have opportunities to acquire a top winger at the TDL.

Ideal Islanders Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AndrewGoalie33</b></div><div>How so?</div></div>
1. You're sending the Blues $11M in cap, not including Bellows and MDC rights
2. You want Tarasenko 50% retained, totaling $7.5M over the next two years
3. Eberle and Leddy aren't even high impact players, only reason I'm even fine with taking Eberle back is to make the cap work for you guys
4. MDC is a legitimate bust, and Bellows isn't really trending in a positive direction either
5. Assuming Dunn takes like a $3M bridge deal, and Bellows/MDC take like $1M each, Blues gain over $6M in cap including Tarasenko's retention, really quality stuff
All together, you're essentially using STL as your cap trash dumpster, and not even sending any actual decent value to them.

Fauteuil - DG

Gotta improve
My thought on the Girard/KK trade.
Girard- established, young Top 4 Dman. Great skating and can move the puck well in all 3 zones. Smaller, not a lock down defender. On a very reasonable contract for a #3, second pair D. He would slot into any team as an offensive, high skill second pair D. Defensively he uses skill over size and isn’t going to be a top pair D.
KK - young, very skilled Center with good size. He has great vision and has the potential to be a top line player. His skating continues to be a concern, and he hasn’t produced in the NHL...but remember he’s played one year in the AHL, and two messed up years in the NHL. He might have a 2C ceiling for many, but a 2C is still a very tough position for contenders to fill. There is projection risk, he may never realize his potential and end up as a bottom 6 forward.
Next year, Girard would be more valuable, but in 2-3 years, it’s much less clear. What would be reasonable? Not Suzuki or Caufield, they are much further along than KK right now. AVS would need to add to put either of those players in play. I can’t see a straight up given the upside KK. AVS would need to add another asset, and I’m not sure a late first is enough. I think that Girard and Newhook or Jost might entice Montreal, giving them a 3C for the next 1/2 decade to replace Danault.
I struggle to see a fit, bit perhaps something like:
KK + 2nd for Girard and Newhook.

For me, he's better at center. Likely a Kerfoot 3C type if he pans out, but a bit better on draws and maybe a bit less productive offensively. And that's great, but he's not ready to do that every night yet and we have other more pressing needs.
