I don't agree that there is no chance that Dolan makes a push to keep Kane if he makes an impact in the playoffs and would consider resigning. There is a culture in the NHL that minimizes how much owner involvement there is and how directly the actions of a franchise are motivated by the goals of ownership.

Realistic Rangers Offseason
I don't think it's realistic to expect the rangers to open with 6 rookies. I don't think they play more than 1-2 tops. More realistic to expect them to open with 0 rookies.

Gallant over-thinking
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Onlyfairtrades1</b></div><div>I didn't think it was possible to find a forward that backchecked less than Panarin, until Kane came along. Kane doesn't even know what back checking is. Tarasenko at least back checks some. They get pinned in their own zone a lot because the D has very little help from the forward group who are usually looking for long stretch passes through 4 defenders. GG can shuffle lines as much as he likes, but they won't get past the Devils unless their forward group changes their ways and really start backchecking effectively every shift.</div></div>
Even with that, I would be very surprised if we made it past the 1st round with their "system"

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>la_scaloneta</b></div><div>Also I don’t think you can have Lafreniere with Kane. Frankly, I don’t think Lafreniere should be in the NHL, he really needs to improve his standing posture so that he can have more balance when battling along the boards / receiving the puck under pressure. His puck control & positioning is good but if you can’t keep yourself from falling down every time you need to change your body position, you can’t stay in the NHL.</div></div>
I agree. When he's got the puck and time, he reminds me of Huberdeau. They did all the kids a disservice force feeding them NHL minutes. Hopefully that doesn't continue with Othmann.

Idk that changing lines has as much of an impact as the fact that their "system" amounts to trading rush chances but only 6/12 forwards backcheck. Man on man d zone coverage also, so they do a lot of unproductive skating. Guys are gassed all game and they don't get many quality chances because nobody knows where anyone is going to be aside from a couple set plays and the same 2 breakouts. No amount of chemistry is going to make a difference when there is nothing to fall back out when things go sideways. things go sideways all game. It's such a waste of talent to have this coaching staff at the wheel.

If the Terry did this to Dolan, they'd find him in the Danbury dump.
A top 4 of all LHD? If he signed it, I think we'd match it reluctantly and then probably trade him for more.

Worse case - Everything fits
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NYR1983</b></div><div>1- you probably can do small bridge deals, ones that no one will agree with.. like a 1-2 year deal. There’s been heavy chatter about adding new teams so if there’s an expansion draft then you can likely watch kreider and Trouba get snatched free of charge and then have that extra loot to pay the kids of the future. Something that no one on here would ever consider..
2- guess I was right about the Kravs value 🤷🏻♂️</div></div>
2- Yeah, definitely. Although, I believe the organization valued him more than GG had and only due to sudden Kane deal did they absolutely have to move him, and settled on the price that they did.
1- What would be a better use of the 3-4m you save in cap space next year in going with bridges vs lower cost long term deals? Keeping Goodrow? Paying another Bottom 6er? The kids need to play in the top 6. The following year the cap will go up 8-9m, and they'll have Kakko, Schneider and Lindgren to sign and it's all gone.
If another team is to be added (there is buzz around the topic, but the league was pretty firm that the chatter is not substantiated and there are no plans) it's going to take 4-5 years. Trouba, Kreider and Panarin will be gone.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>glarson17</b></div><div>Lol Karlsson on a bottom three team in the league putting up these numbers is way better than what Josi did on a playoff team last year. If what you suggest the sharks would get is true, San Jose just keeps him. Karlsson likes San Jose, the contract isn’t really an issue either as they won’t be good until it’s up.</div></div>
With how bad of a job Grier has been doing, I do believe SJ ends up just keeping him. He might help sell tickets during this time, and it's understandable to keep him for those reasons, but If he found any deal at all that would free up even 8m in additional cap space, most GMs in his shoes would do it.

EK65
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>glarson17</b></div><div>Whose to say he won’t do this again? After all his injuries he’s stayed healthy this year and already has a career high in points this year. Likely will be the first dman to score 100 points in a season in 30 years. $9.5 mil for that is more than fair.
In this trade the sharks get a pick likely in the 20s, a pick in the 90ish range, an ahl goalie, a 4C, a 5th and a 6/7th dman. That’s a steal for Buffalo</div></div>
The odds say that he won't do this again. He's shooting 11.5%. Josi got to 96 last year shooting 8.2%, so it's not that much more impressive what EK65 is doing. Everyone regresses from record years. Josi is closer to his average this year than where he was last year. Whether or not he does it again doesn't matter because the odds are against him, his history is against him, his age is against him, and most importantly his contract is against him. There are only a couple of teams that could theortically fit him in, nobody that will do it without retention, and not enough bidders to get more for him than probably a 1st and (since Greer likes qty) a few C/D prospects. What is really of value to SJ here is the 9.5m of cap space dealing him would free up.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>I'd imagine the Canes ask for Cuylle or Sykora instead. Carolina's D prospect pool is incredibly deep as it is. I like Jones, but they need forwards. With Morrow likely to sign his ELC when UMass' season end, Seeley, Honka, Heimosalmi all in the system, and Alexander Nikishin being the best defenseman in the KHL aged just 21, more D guys doesn't make sense.</div></div>
I see. Svech, Aho, Jarvis, Necas, Turbo, Puljujärvi, Martinook, KK. More on top of that? Maybe you need an elite player, but that seems like a different move altogether.
I imagined Jones could be a Gostisbehere light right away and has upside, but at a fraction of the cost.
But if they want B6 forwards, I imagine they probably would just want to keep Drury.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>glarson17</b></div><div>Nobody wants a 100 point defenseman at a proper cap hit for a discount return like it has here? Oh please, get out of here</div></div>
This deal could have materialized already if it were the case, while he's a year younger, giving you another year of value on the contract. He's going to be paid until he's 37. Even though he's a pretty lauded player, this level of production isn't normal for him. He's shooting 4% higher than his average, when he was healthy. It doesn't make sense to look at his production this year absent of context, or to expect most of the years remaining of his deal to match this level of production, which is why it makes sense that there was only one team in on him this TDL. (EDM)
That's not to say that he isn't a great player, or that you look at the info above and not still take the chance regardless. Just that there aren't going to be so many suiters that you'd get close to this level of an offer. Realistically, you're going to talking about 1-2 teams total who this type of move is within the real of possibility.

No way Sharks would even get this for EK65, even with retention. Nobody is vying for that contract.
