Honestly he's much better on the wing he can play center but over the past two seasons he was playing the wing a majority of the time. If he was going to play center I think he'd be the ideal 4C

Why would Flyers want Rielly? Provorov, Sanheim, York is our left side, we have zero use for him.

Better without tarasenko
While I do think Ghost is on his way out, I think people are overblowing the waivers thing which is more about COVID as the Flyers were calling people up at the time and needed some room. Similar to Byron I would say. But I do think he gets traded for less than what you'd want, though I doubt its a 7th D, AHL D and a 5th.

Different offseason look - want value critique on laine especially
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lightman13</b></div><div>I hear you, I thought it was more real dollars being saved between the two. Henrique dollars are 11.65 vs parise 6.66m. That’s only 5m. I thought it was more like 12m in difference.
In terms of cap hit - I was looking at the Henrique cap hit vs the parise buyout going from 5.8m Henrique - to parises buyout 6.3, 7.3 and 7.3. That’s the slight difference I was looking at. The 833k for years 5-8 of the buyout being negligible.</div></div>
When the NHL cracked down on contracts like this (And Weber/Suter-type deals), they made them essentially as close to buyout-proof as possible. Plus, if I was taking on a p1ssed off Parise, I'd do my best to convince him to play the next 2-3 years, then stick it to the Wild with the recapture penalty that they'd have for year 4. Not that I have anything against the Wild, but if they traded Parise right now, their cap advantage would be locked in at $18,615,385. If/when he were to retire, that number would be spread out over the number of years remaining on his contract (Example: If he retired after next season, the Wild would be stuck carrying a $9.3 mil cap hit for 2 years. If he retired the following year, they'd be hit with the full $18.615385 mil cap hit, all in one season).
Not that I have anything against the Wild, I just think it would be incredibly interesting to see this happen at some point.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>smkruzik</b></div><div>why do all leaf fans think Philly would want Engvall? Nothing against him; it's just we can't spend money on anything outside of a RD right now. Once we get that in order; maybe we talk about this trade depending on draft picks we have left after acquiring Jones, or Dumba, or Ekholm, or Ellis....or whoever.</div></div>
I just picked Philly cause they extra picks at the end rounds of the draft, I am just showing they would get rid of him for picks and cap space, anyone who wants him can have him, Philly is just an example.

Fill me in if I'm off on that.
Also: It would be hilarious to see JVR sign yet another contract in PHI just to be traded.</div></div>
I think people over estimate the waivers thing with many players (not just ghost). There are teams that I think would have had interest in ghost but due to it being mid season and no one having cap space I don't think they wanted the contract. Now that it is the offseason, there may be teams that have more space and are willing to take a chance on a guy like ghost (Who after being placed on waivers was the flyers best d-Men)

The flyers aren't trading a productive, under team control with a great cap hit, young top 6 forward like TK for a left handed dman (which they do not need more of) who has gone downhill over the last three years.
I think that AZ-TOR trade is absolutely nuts, and what's more nuts, not sure Armstrong would go for it. But it's a good idea.

Dream off season Johnny hockey and Ryan Ellis
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Alfie11</b></div><div>I’m not sure it’s fair to say that Konecny is in between this year and last year, as that would be his 2nd highest point total. If anything, this year (55 point pace) is a reasonable expectation, as it’s between what he got from 2017-19 and his 19-20 career year. The term is nice, but Johnny’s willing to resign in Calgary, and in the minds of everyone who thinks he wants to go to philly he’d be willing to resign there so that doesn’t affect the value of the trade at all. Patrick would be a nice piece to have, and Calgary might be interested in him as a reclamation project in theory, but he doesn’t hold much value period right now (2nd or 3rd, which doesn’t make up for the difference in skill level at all), and Calgary isn’t the place for him to recover his career (constant weather changes, particularly chinooks, would worsen his migraine issues). Also Ottawa and Philly are not in the same place at all. The average age of Philly’s top 4 scorers + Hayes is 31 and the average cost is 7mil apiece (even with Couturier’s steal of a contract). The average age of Ottawa’s top line + Stutzle/Pinto is 21 and 3 of those guys are still on an ELC next year.</div></div>
Nobody on this website knows who wants to sign where. We have no clue what JG wants, so for safety I assume the worst case - that he's a one year rental. Does PHI pay this price for a one year rental? Heck no. Most of the Flyers had a down year, and Konecny was definitely one of those on the eye test. This year shouldn't be an indication of what he usually is.
You skewed my reference to ottawa. I am talking about both teams missing the playoffs and looking to take steps forward. Batherson is essentially the same thing as Konency, especially given it seems like he will be signing a comparable contract. Given that both teams just missed the playoffs, it doesn't make sense to move a young piece on a nice contract for a one year rental. If PHI wants JG, this is not the best way about it.

Philly Fly
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jacketsman61</b></div><div>It’s not. Philly needs to add to that trade. Patrick at this point is a bust. He can’t be the centerpiece of a trade for Jones. If the Jackets were to use this framework, Cam York and Morgan Frost would need to be added.</div></div>
Don't be absurd. Jones is really good but he isn't going to get that kind of return. Not because he isn't deserving, but because he's only got a single year left on his contract and isn't coming with an extension. There's no guarantee he signs one with Philly to stay longer. He's a rental. The trade might need to add something, but it won't be either Frost or a top 50 prospect like York. Certainly not both. Likely either an additional future 3rd round pick or a c-level prospect.
The centerpiece coming back isn't Patrick, it's the Philadelphia 1st. Which is 13th overall.
Furthermore, I would hardly call Patrick a bust. He's only 22, and just played his first full season in the NHL. I get that people think he should of taken off by now, given the fact he's a former top 5 pick and all. But the simple fact remains that he's honestly behind the developmental curve of where he should be thanks to his set backs due to his medical issues and concerns. He's had a hard path to the NHL and the fact he just played a full season of it, his first, is a massive win for him. Does that lower his value and raise concerns that he could stay on the ice? Absolutely. Does that necessarily mean he's a bust? No, not at all. The talent, skill, and top-six potential and upside is still there. If he still hasn't clicked by age 24-25, then yeah you can call him a bust. Until then, it's too early to say that. He's worth taking the shot on though, to see if he makes it.

plus, isn't Minnesota looking for an impact player in the immediacy? Even if Patrick does turn things around and reach his potential; it won't be for at least another 3-4 years.</div></div>
I flipped him as part of the Eichel package. Valuation with PHI I know is off. I’ve done several trades involving dumba and no matter what you do, it’s either MIN fans arguing dumba is worth more, or opposing fans saying he’s worth less. So I just put this in because it’s trendy and relatively non triggering on this site. I personally think if we got a 1st for Dumba, it would be a win.

I agree with Dangles, this is way too much for Marchessault. Hayes also has a NMC that I doubt he'd be quick to waive, though the low taxes of Nevada might convince him. .
