Make DC Great Again
Flyers will take that. Agreed.
Though you make a BIG mistake putting Braun on the top D-pair. He's been exposed in Philly due to his age. With Ellis in, Braun would be a 4-6 guy which makes him perfect for what you need in terms of depth, but with Ellis out, he's been forced to be a top 2 d-man playing 20+ minutes a game. You're going to get fatigue and a drop off in production.
The deal still works for the Caps if Braun is put in a 4-6 role where he doesn't need to play any more than 15 minutes a night.

Giroux
from the Flyers side it looks good but you're right about Annunen, and the flyers don't want another goalie in the pipeline. We have Hart as our future. So far, Sandstrom,Ersson, and Ustimenko look decent enough (even if not the potential of Anunen) that we're not really looking at goaltending when discussing a trade.

Philly declines. It's a late round1st, a bottom 6 forward, and an unproven as of yet prospect.

Red Wings add a vet for the playoff push
if it's 2 minutes to the end of the deadline, I'd accept; but I imagine Fletcher is going to dangle Braun out there as long as possible to try and push up the price.
People think Braun is too past his prime, but anyone who's followed knows that he was supposed to be 4-6 dman with <15 minutes per night. He only looks slower and less skilled because Philly has been playing him 20+ on the top pairing all season. You put him back at the bottom of the d-corp, and he's going to make you 100% better.
...I suspect you know that though since you proposed the offer in the first place.

Konecny to LA starts Flyers rebuild
If LA were just a fringe playoff contender I might consider it based on probable position of the 1st rounder. with a somewhat shallow draft (speculated) this year, that 1st isn't quite as meaningful; and we'd be taking a gamble on Faber reaching full potential, whereas we at least know what we got in Konecny.
Interesting offer though.

the return isn't going to cut it for Philly.
Plus Thompson is on IR pretty much indefinitely right now with a shoulder injury so Sakic isn't asking for him.

for Philly, swap out Behrens or Kaut for Barron. Is it a massive overpayment? absolutely; but the deadline is always a sellers market, and Giroux is easily a top 5 target, even if just a rental, right now.

Flyers would give you a 4th with Brassard; not a 3rd. Not saying he's necessarily worth that much, and anyone outside the metro might be able to get a 3rd, but the rivalry penalty is for sure going to push it to a 4th on the return.

Laughton's not going anywhere. Amongst the dumpster fire that is the Phiadelphia Flyers; Laughton has been the only one outside of Giroux to show up every night and play like it's a playoff clinching game.
He's on a rather cap friendly deal and is the kind of vet leader Philly is going to want to build around (especially if Giroux is gone)

Sandstrom has some real potential. May not be top-10 NHL goaltending; but definitely better than an UDFA that at best will be in a crowded locker room full of 4th line talent.

Beckman is 3 years in and hasn't shown anything yet (not that he won't; but for expedience sake, not now)
Hunt is interesting. Again though, the bidding war on Giroux will be high. this offer won't even come close to what some others will surely give.

not come trade deadline time when a RH dman is available. Flyers will get more than what he's worth thanks to deadline bidding wars.

Flyers Cap Relief
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Obtaining an LTIR doesn't give a team more cap relief. Would is this obsession you have with this?</div></div>
yes it does. How do you think TB made it through the whole season and then playoffs when Kucherov suddenly was well enough to play when the cap didn't count?
It's a terrible loophole where teams acquire a player that will never play again, but are still under contract. You have someone making 3.5 who can't play. They get thrown onto LTIR and now the team is allowed to go spend 3.5 more than what the team is currently at cap-wise. Hence, Flyers are currently <500K under the cap. They get Ferland and put him on LTIR, then they get 3.5 million minus the <500K, so they still end up close to 2 mill under the cap.

Flyers Cap Relief
it's not.
We want to carry 14 forwards. we're only under the cap because we're projecting to carry 13. Right now it's NAK, Frost, Allison, and Lacynski all vying for the 11-13 forward spot. Allison looked good in the home stretch for us, so I think he can make the big club; but that would put us over the cap by just a bit if we carry all all 4.
Trading for an LTIR player alleviates the problem; plus gives us a few extra million for call up's and such during the season.
The alternative is trading for Kesler to use the LTIR relief. I figured Ferland would be a little cheaper and NAK could also slot into your bottom 9 lineup.

point taken; but yeah, Philly definitely doesn't have any chance of taking on salary unless money is also going the other way. Good insight though.

So what does this team look like after all the moves
I don't think Laczynski makes it unless he has a tremendous camp. I think it's more likely that Allison gets carried onto the main roster. Even then; depending on how camp goes; I doubt Thompson signed to sit in the press box every night. based on your lineup; I'd think they put put thompson on 4th C, and move Frost up to 3C. Move Laughton to the right wing (I realize it's out of position; Laughton seems flexible enough that it might work; and if not swap him and Frost) Laczynski is scratched and NAK is moved to 4th line RW.
It's all conjecture at this point; but if either of our ideas for lines work out; it's a vast improvement over last years lineup.

Yandle will easilly get more than that, so forget that option. Sanheim is arbitration eligible, so he's likely to get a true bridge deal. 4.7 at least, and likely more if they can lock him up for 5-6 years
